There ought to be a ratings system/list for fansubbers: quality, reliability, etc. |
I think Haruspex is a good, reliable subber. I'm not that upset about these two episodes and think they'll be done eventually (hopefully soon). There are some other subbers/groups I would not rate so high though. _________________

It still doesn't explain why Episodes 7 and 8 are missing...

Haruspex did explain the missing episodes a while back:
Quote: | Now for the bad news.
Looks like this series will have to be put on a bit of a back-burner for me. I've gotten increasingly busy in my personal life, which naturally puts pressure on my ability to translate episodes. Since I am currently working on two series at the moment, what with everything else going on, it's begun catching up with me.
To help close the gap, I have been using the close captioning from jdrama.cc for this series since it would take me more than twice as long to translate each episode otherwise. However, jdrama.cc will be down for the next couple of weeks. Since I am likely to just be getting busier moving forward, I just can't spare that sort of time anymore. As a result, I'm going to have to put "Monster Parent" on hold for awhile. Once the CC's from there return for the last two episodes (since there will be total of 10), I'll try my best to at least squeeze those in. After that, I'll go back and fill in the missing episodes, but it may take quite awhile.
Since "Monster Parent" is such an episodic series, with little or no character development within each episode, it shouldn't be too bad. Getting at least the last episodes done will answer what few questions there are for the characters without missing out on too much. Still, I hate having to set it aside...

Yeah, I saw that... Vague as it was.
And there's 11 episodes, not 10.

Fansubbers seem to be biting off more than they can chew at times... Even worse are those who drop one project before it's done to work on a more interesting or "hotter" drama...

A lot of things can go on behind the scenes on fansubbing projects, depending on how the team is structured and who works on what. Also, Haruspex explained that the Closed Captioned script for the missing episodes of Monster Parent did not get captured. And so, this makes things more difficult. Translating from the CC script is much, much easier to do than listening to the dialogue. I know that Koori no Hana had the CC scripts captured, and thus the translation could probably be completed very quickly, in comparison to Monster Parent.
Also, Haruspex was the translator for Tomorrow, as well as Monster Parent, and Koori no Hana, all in the span of a couple months. Quite a lot to have going on.
Just try to be patient...

Yeah, I know all that. It's just a shame that he/she knocked the rest over so quickly. And his/her subs are usually pretty good and don't need much editing compared to a lot of subbers. I guess we're a bit spoiled.

I would say yeah, at times we can be a bit spoiled. When you compare how fast RAWs get uploaded and subs get released to just 5 years ago, it's amazing how hard some fansubbers work and the dedication they have to do something that has no real tangible reward.
Haruspex is one of the good ones and hopefully will continue to do this for those fans that can't understand japanese well enough to watch dramas otherwise.

I could probably have a go at watching without subs. Hell, it's Ryoko-chan, it's worth it just to watch her But I probably wouldn't understand a lot.

Ironic that a streaming site ends up completing the subs. That's good news, but I hardly have an interest to go back and watch this.

I still can't figure out why the subs for the middle two episodes were left out by the original subbers...
