Just a guess but I'm sure this will do REALLY well in ratings. Beaten Smart for Fuji Telebi to start this at the end of Golden Week.

Doesn't hurt to have Kimutaku in the drama, either... Seems like a stereotypical role for him.

Pass.

I loved KT in Pride, but... wow. Lame title, even lamer summary. I agree though, probably a ratings blockbuster. Wink

@ Takoyama - Hey thanks for starting the TnK thread over here! Smile

@ Laica - Lol yeah, the title IS lame and sappy. (Moooooooooon Luhverrzzz Nut) You can almost hear Barry White's velvety bass in the background.

But I'm really looking forward to this drama. Frankly I'm sick of seeing Kimura in his goodhearted-weirdo-changes-the-world types of roles, or even his "Tom Cruise" roles. He needs to go back to what he does best: a full-on romantic drama, something he hasn't done since... BEAUTIFUL LIFE back in 2000. Sweat If he's going to go stereotypical, at least it'll be the kind of role most fans like best. Naughty

You? A Hater? I never considered you one. The term is too facile and irrational: doesn't apply to you. Although if we had to use labels, I'd say you're more of a... "Disdainer," perhaps? hehe (But only towards all things KimuTaku- and JE-related. And believe me, I don't blame you, lol Beaten) I'm the Hater. i.e. cannot abide that little butterball from MY BOSS, MY HERO. Hating is irrational. So is the other extreme: fangirling. Wink

LOL, "Disdainer."

A little bit of a tongue-twister, but I like it. Mr Green

Don't judge by the title. Romancing the Stone, my all-time #1, Great-movie-with-a-terrible-title. Applaud

Fair enough. Grumble hehe Oh but hey -- I don't think "Romancing the Stone" is a terrible title because at least it's unusual, it makes you think "what stone...?" At least that's how it was for me, and I remember being intrigued by the title when I watched it in the '80s. Smile "Romance" and "stone" don't usually go together whereas "moon" is more conventionally associated with things romantic. That's why I think "Moon Lovers" is lame for a title: it brings nothing new, just rehashes already trite visual symbolism. Mr Green

Well, it's non-issue, anyway. Kimura's new drama could be called "Beach Blanket Bingo" and I'd still watch it. Ten times over. Beaten

Heyyyyy I said the title was lame. Leave the plot alone!!! Beat You We don't know enough about the story (all we have is a two-line synopsis, hello!) so there's no reason to call it anything... yet. Shake Head

I wonder about putting my toe in this water...

I think it's a strange title considering Takuya said the role he plays is not a nice man but a hard and miserable SOB. I am assuming that in the end the plot will thicken and three females will hit the dust, and may the best girl win him...maybe.

Every time I see that title in English I hear "Mooooon Riverrrr" and it drives me nuts.

I'm hoping that it will at least be more of a comedy. Takuya does comedy rather well now that he is getting older.

Found a little better synopsis:

Kimura plays the president of a company in the interior design industry who gets involved in a web of relationships with the three actresses and Matsuda Shota. Shinohara plays an interior designer who has been holding a torch for Kimura's character since they were in university. Matsuda will play Kimura's subordinate who can speak Mandarin with a secret ambition. Kitagawa will play a rich girl who works as a model and gets close to Kimura's character with a motive. Meanwhile, Lin will play a confidante of Kimura.

And don't bother wasting your time trying to convince BMW that Kimura is a good actor. You'd have better luck converting Osama bin Laden to Christianity.

@ brad2 I hope there's some comedy as well. Shinohara proved she can handle it in Gift Applaud

To motivate myself - I feel like watching this because of the supporting actors, whom I all love - I will have to paraphrase Gmark and Egirl: Don't judge a show by its Kimutaku.

Has anyone had the chance to check out the CMs? The scenes thrown together feel like a weirdly scrambled hodgepodge.

We'll know what kind of hard-nosed business man Kimutaku makes on Monday. Those who ever tried watching Lin Chiling in Chinese movies will know that she'd make a better model in a music video than an actress.

I like the 9 (getsukyuu getsukoi = monday-9 moon-love) trick they've obviously invented it for, so I can't help liking the title.

That Shinohara Ryoko bags the "miserable SOB" ... must be! Mr Green

Thanks for providing the links here. Victory! Peace! I've seen most of the CMs except for the most recent one because I'd rather not know too much about the plot. My expectations are already jacked up THIS high. Sweat (Nice theme song, though. La-la-la-la-la-loooove sooong (hey baby, hey baby)... Dancing)
