^ I don't know what you have seen so far, but here's a few series I highly recommend watching.

Timeranger- A rather dark series. It starts out slow the first half but the story really picks up steam in the second half. Also has an great cast with deep development. Subs aren't that great but they are serviceable, better than most of the J-drama DVD's that I've imported from SE Asia.

Hurricanger- Mostly serious ninja themed Sentai, but its tone can range from dark to silly. Some of the villains are kinda lame, but I love the cast and the story. Like Timeranger, the subs (particularly episodes 11-51) aren't that great but are watchable.

Boukenger- Probably the closest to Dekaranger in terms of style. Has an adventure theme and is like the Indiana Jones Sentai. Great cast, good villains, descent stories.

Shinkenger- My second favorite Sentai next to Dekaranger. I love just about everything in this series including the cast, story, villains, the Samurai theme, and the fights. Only problem here is combining a gazillion mechas gets out of hand.

Gokaiger- Currently airing, but great with all the tributes to all the past Sentai teams. Villains are boring but I love the cast, the fights, pirate theme, and the stories. Also would be a great starting point to get a glimps of all the past Sentais.

Other series that I think aren't as good as the ones I mentioned above, but still descent.

Gaoranger- Beast themed Sentai. Has a fairly good cast, some descent villains, and a couple good story arcs. The major problem is that it looses steam in the last 1/3rd or so of the series.

Gekiranger- An interesting mix between beasts and Chinese martial arts. Has some great villains and good story arcs. The cast as a whole is ok, however, the red ranger is annoying.

Magiranger- Like Gekiranger, great villains and some good story arcs with an ok cast and magic as its theme. However, it does get pretty silly at times.

Think Boukenger will be the one worth checking out, how can a series go wrong when there's a pink and yellow? Nut

Not that they can compare with them! Shake Head

The Boukenger girls are quite good. Natsuki is a lot like Umeko with an interesting backstory, and Sakura is like a Tomb-Raider action girl. They're my second favorite girl combo in Sentai next to the Dekaranger girls. I also like the Go-Onger, Shinkenger, and Gokaiger girl combos.

^^ Been curious about those 2 in Boukenger, have an old mag from 2005 where they did a couple features on the show but the small piece they had on DR made me put it on my have-to-watch list. Victory! Peace!

I don't recall either of them being in Dekaranger. However, Sakura's actress did play a small role in the movie Battle Royale 2 with Umeko's actress. Boukenger was an anniversary year for SS (30th anniversary). For their anniversary, they held these short clips at the end of each episode called 30 Sentai Encyclopedia. Each clip would pay tribute to a particular past Sentai team, in order (I believe this starts on episode 3). Usually the Boukenger cast would dress up as the team they were giving tribute to. As such, there's this pic from the Dekaranger tribute clip.

Boukenger also got a special team-up movie called Boukenger vs Super Sentai in which they teamed up with a handful of past Sentai warriors. Unfortunately Jasmine didn't get picked, but one of my other favorites, Nanami/Hurricane Blue did.

The Japanese military playing the Gokaiger theme song, and doing an awesome job at it. Big Grin

Some screenshots from the Gokaiger Goseiger Super Sentai 199 Hero Battle movie, which celebrated Sentai's 35th anniversary. It's a great movie and a must see for Super Sentai fans. Smile

^^ Umeko Victory! Peace! but no Jasmine? Shameful Cry
Just got this, not a drama but probably not quite a Sentai series either but looks really interesting.

^ Ah Japanese Spiderman. It actually plays an interesting role in SS. Japanese Spiderman actually introduced the giant mechas, which TOEI imported into SS starting with Battle Fever J.

Have you ever heard of this series, Evolver? Wasn't at Nihon but saw it another site, was thinking of grabbing it.
