Last episode of Edison no Haha. I really enjoy the "genius" kid Kento. He is so cute. But Ito Misaki just CANNOT ACT. How did she get a leading role??

Almost done with Motto Koi Seyo Otome...

I started to notice some Churasan-like tropes lately in this show (the spotlight bit) , plus the presence of at least two actors from Churasan...

a little research done and yep, its the same screenwriter for both shows, Okada Yoshikazu...

Sugoi! I'll definitely move Koi Seyo Otome up on my watch list! Thanks for sharing this observation. Big Grin

LIPSTICK episode 6

Even though some of the writing was lost in translation, really impressive, the connection between the two main characters, and how some of the dialogue hit home inside. Trademark of Shinji Nojima's writing. I have always been a bit afraid of watching his early jdoramas, because there was usually something very disturbing. In this, it wasn't too bad, but still I did skip some parts. I am going to continue watching though because of the writing. The music really fits the drama too.

Golden Bowl episode 1-3

It's described as a comedy but really quite serious and almost opposite to a comedy sometimes. Also written by Shinji Nojima.

...I may try Miseinen afterall. http://jdorama.com/drama.261.htm

^I agree with you about Golden Bowl. I didn't find it a comedy either... Head Scratch

On Topic: I finished Love & Eros last night...

My Review: 6/10

Ifve finally completed Love & Eros and I must say that the cast was absolutely amazing. There wasnft one weak link in the entire thing and I feel very fortunate to have seen Asano Atsuko on the small screen. This was my first experience with her and I was highly impressed. Tomoya Nagase was wonderful, as usual, and although I still prefer him in the silly gangster role, it was nice to see him pull off a harder, more emotional character. Fujii Fumiya was adorable and although he doesnft stand out (how can he with Asano and Tomoya flanking him on both sides) he has this subtle quality that creeps up on you.

That being said, Ifll never ever watch this drama again.

This drama made me feel ridiculous. At first I found the storyline stupid and the plot insufferable. The character of Kasumi was so annoying I felt like slapping her every time she was on screen. Jiro was also a pain in the butt and I couldnft understand why I wasnft attracted to my Tomoya. Slowly (around episode 6), the writers complicated the characters by changing character traits. Suddenly the things I admired in Ruiychi were transferred to Jiro and vice versa, so that I was now attracted to Jirofs character. Then of course the End of the drama came along and everything just splattered against the wall, leaving behind a mess of nothingness. I donft know how I feel about the ending. In one respect I thought it was brilliant. In another I felt it was overdone, predictable, and stupid.

Regardless, Ifll never ever watch this drama again.

RE: Asano Atsuko.

Give "101 Kaime no Puropozu" (101st Proposal) a try, if you've got it. That was the first drama I saw her in, and I've been nuts about her ever since. Romantic comedy. (Sort of a frog falls in love with a princess story.) Amazing supporting cast. Simply one of my favorite shows.

As to what I'm watching... Rats. It had to happen. I've been watching each episode of "Weekly Yoko Maki" as it comes out (no subs) and this week's was simply too much for my almost nonexistant Japanese.

I couldn't follow the ladies conversation at the table, and I'm really not all that familiar with the type of show they were parodying. So I was pretty much lost in this one.

Noted! 101 Kamie no Puropozu is now 4th on my list of dramas to watch. For now I'll be starting Galileo. I'll prolly sneak in one episode before bedtime.

Sadly, I got my first one of those when I saw Honey and Clover.

^

There's no way any attempt at a Live action H&C would ever be anywhere as good as the anime...the animation set the bar way too high.

but at the same time, I think the casting for the live action one was so much better than the character design in the anime. I think it was just a tragic screenplay/director - could have been soo much better!

well comparing character design to casting is bit of an uneven comparison methinks...there are tons of dramas that are basically adaptations of mangas/animes and I would concern myself with the casting as it relates to acting ability or lack thereof, rather than looks...

Case in point, many people are enamoured with Kyoko Fukada's looks but she couldn't act her way out of wet gyoza skin dipped in chili oil.

Or Yamapi, he may have captured the look of the manga character in Kurosagi but if people want to believe that he convincingly played an adept conartist capable of swindling people at will they should put down the crackpipes and seek help. He was more convincing as the goofy Akira from Nobuta wo Produce.

No, you're totally right - it's really hard to compare and the drama really was a let down. I just thought that the drama Takemoto was so much better cast (and written, at least at the beginning), I really wanted it to succeed more than it did.

I can appreciate that....in this particular case all I'm saying it was a really tough act to follow. Sweat You win some, you lose some, I guess.
