Finally finished Neechan no Koibito. Despite the title, it's actually very well balanced drama. The second half didn't have many surprises but it cheered up the audience. Heartwarming and hopeful, I enjoyed this very much.

Also finished Kono Koi Atatamemasu ka. Liked it mainly for Mori Nana, it's structured a bit like Korean drama.

It has a love triangle (or quadrangle) and misunderstandings that are very typical of k-dramas.

I am about 6 episodes in and quite enjoying it. Mori Nana is quite engaging, and I am surprisingly liking Nakamura Tomoya more than I thought, he is very charming in this. I also love the theme song by Sekai no Owari.

Started watching Oh My Boss and My Daughter doesn't have a Boyfriend. Seems good so far but too early to tell. Refreshing to see Hamabe Minami in a "normal" role, she is really good at playing those eccentric, wacky characters too but I much prefer her here. Kamishiraishi Mone is good as I expected, but the support cast and story felt a bit underwhelming. The setting of fashion magazine publisher is not as engaging/empathetic as hospital, in comparison with Mone's last drama.

With the k-drama reference, I meant that Kono Koi Atatamemasu ka has 2 main leads and 2 secondary leads, and there are romantic relationships between them. Fortunately there is no misunderstanding in this one. Misunderstanding as a plot device is very much on the wane it seems, audience in general are tired of it I think.

Started Isekai Izakaya Nobu, which seems like a food drama set in some isekai mediaeval European setting. Otani Ryohei is the chef and he's a sight for sore eyes.

Speaking of Otani, I'm also watching him in Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu. Yes, I know, everyone but me has watched it, lol. First episode was pretty cute.

Oh My Boss episode 2. I thought apart from Mone chan, the rest of the characters were rather forgettable. Story telling was not as fluent as I would like. May stop watching.

My Daughter doesn't have a boyfriend episode 2. This was really fun to watch. I laughed and smiled a few times. All the characters have their own little quirks and they are all pretty likeable. Relationships between them are fleshing out too. Can't wait to see how Sora's romantic adventure will turn out. Big Grin The mother daughter relationship between Aoi and Sora is funny and heartwarming.

Edit: seems like most other viewers don't share my view though Sweat so maybe avoid if you don't like the start

I still haven't properly *watched* either of those (as I'm back on a full-immersion C-dramas stint Sweat ), but judging from cast, synopsis and a few scenes I've glimpsed here and there, I tend to agree with you..."Oh My Boss" doesn't interest me in the least, whereas "Uchi no Musume..." seems like it's totally up my alley! I finished Kono Koi Atatamemasu ka, and really like it. The leads made it work despite the age gap, and it was just one of those light and cute dramas that I needed in times of stress. I also adore the theme song.

Started Shanai Marriage Honey, which has a dumb plot but apparently lots of skinship. Finally moving on with Suits 2, only to find out to my horror Kamishirashi Mone has a recurring role in the remaining episodes. Sigh.

I don't want to get my hopes up and be disappointed, but I thought Nijiro Karute showed a lot of promise. I loved the first half hour.

Mokomi: Kanojo Chotto Hendakedo's premise sounds interesting. I like it so far.

Seems like there are quite a few interesting dramas this season.

I've watched the first episode of "Ore no Ie no Hanashi", for which I had great expectations...and as it often happens in that case, I've found it such a big letdown Beaten
Similarly to "Gomen ne Seishun" by the same wrtiter (Kudo Kankuro), the storyline involving the ML is interesting (and BTW Nagase is great as usual!), but imho everything else is just "meh": the other characters are basically either bidimensional caricatures or else they're written inconsistently and end up behaving schizophrenically, the really funny moments are but two or three...of course one episode isn't enough to judge it, but as far as I'm concerned it hasn't gotten off to a good start.... Beaten

Nijiro Karute is so funny and heartwarming. After Neechan no Koibito last season, I didn't think I will like another drama that much so soon. This may even be better than that. :o

I enjoyed Uchi no Musume wa, Kareshi ga Dekinai a lot too. It can feel a little bit scattered, with many characters and jumping between tidbits for each of them, but it wasn't a problem for me.

Same here! Kanno Miho's comedic skills plus a great script filled with witty dialogues and so many references and puns! I hope Fukuhara will get some more screentime in the upcoming episodes! w00t!

p.s.
On a side note, taken by an insane curiosity I went and watched the first episode of "Ultra Q" from 1966...note that I'm absolutely no fan of "tokusatsu" to begin with, but it was honestly and objectively terrible...the plot so basic it could fit on a fortune cookie's paper (and leave some unused space, at that!), the script as plain and uninteresting as they come, the "monsters" so ridiculous they honestly looked more like Muppets, LOL...all in all, living proof that "oldies" don't always rhyme with "goldies" Beaten

I've watched the first episode of "Edo Moiselle" and it was really good! w00t!
Okada Yui is a very talented young actress indeed! Too bad she's got no luck with English fansubbers though! Two of her previous dorama (both very good imho) were dropped after a few episodes by their subbers... Bang Head Puppy Dog Eyes

On the other hand, I've also watched the 1st ep. of "Dareka ga Mite Iru" and that was, imho, abysmally terrible (imagine the lousiest American sit-com from 40 or 50 years ago, keep everything - including the constant, überannoying laugh track - and just throw in Japanese actors instead of the original ones bleh )

Dropped "Ore no Ie no Hanashi" after 2 episodes; I expected this to be a very funny comedy with a few deep moments. Instead I found it an überdepressing drama with a few (waaaay to few, imho!) funny moments... Grumble

Horimiya episode 1

I read the original manga years ago and liked it. The pace in the first episode is too fast I think. I wish they spent more time on how the two main characters became closer, and the female lead could have been played by someone younger, though I understand she's a mature character. But overall, not bad, quite enjoyable.

I kind of skip-watched the first episode but it felt like the actual script is almost as uninteresting and random as the script inside the drama. Was half hoping/expecting that it would be an interwoven story with writing inspiration coming from the protagonist's daily life, like Tiger and Dragon.

Nijiro Karute continues to be my favourite drama this season. The characters are so likeable and endearing. Even though nothing really happened in the latest episode, I kind of wish we can continue looking into their lives well past this season.

Glad I'm not the only one thinking that... Sweat

While still mostly on C-dramas lately, I still managed to appreciate "Pension Metsä" (like that, with the Umlaut...it means "woods/forest" in Finnish and it's definitely done "Kaurismäki style", LOL)...while I've dropped "Kakenai", kind of a missed opportunity imho... Beaten

Finished "Joshi Kosei no Mudazukai" (BTW, I've subbed the last three episodes myself Sweat ), you might think I'm now praising this drama because of that, but it's exactly the opposite: I liked it so much I just couldn't stand seeing it in the "Dropped Subs Limbo"... Sweat
I wholeheartedly suggest it! As far as I'm concerned, this is a hidden gem! 10/10! w00t!
