Lol. I know what you mean. I'm like that too. Even though "Majou No Jouken" was terrible, I ended up watching the whole thing.
Ahhh, Tokyo Wankei. Another stinker. I think the only good thing about that drama was the theme song. Although I prefer the Loveholic version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLQPq0QjtYY
Okies, I've just finished Tokyo Wankei. I couldn't find its thread, so I'll just post my review here.

Ummm... there are a lot of spoilers. Gomen.

Okay, I realize there are a lot of stupid issues with this drama. To begin with, it really annoyed me how Mikafs motherfs story began in the EXACT same way as hers. I mean, the boyfriends even had the same lines, with the EXACT words. I know they were trying to show how Mikafs chance meeting with Ryosuke was similar to her motherfs tragic love (who happens to be Ryosukefs own father), but to make it that exact just ruined the reality of the coincidence (or fate) of the situation. Also, the fact that Mika and Ryosuke fell in love at the end of the second episode, far too quickly after they met, was also unrealistic. It felt really rushed and there wasnft enough ground for their relationship. It felt like Mika was forcing herself to fall in love simply because she wanted to feel what her mother had felt, and Ryosuke was conveniently available.
It was also annoying how the Diary entries revealed throughout the duration of the show served only to shadow the incidents in the main love story. For example, Ryosuke is asked to go to Korea, and asks Mika to go with him. She pulls out her motherfs diary and TA DAA! Therefs an entry where her mother and boyfriend went to Korea. This happens a lot and itfs dumb. It takes away from the actual power of the Diary itself.
And lets not forget the melodrama. I mean, they go off to Korea, and the same day Ryosukefs mother randomly goes mental, and Inoue is randomly stabbed in the back. After episode 7, things just went downhill at an abrupt pacec from being siblings, to introducing a third lover, to getting amnesia, Kamiyafs book being published out of thin air, Ryosuke learning Korean over night, even Mikafs seeming indifference to the fact that she has an estranged father and a brother shefs never metc
Soc I KNOW and can see the many issues this drama hasc and yet I still canft dislike it. I mean, I donft necessarily love it, but I donft dislike it. And I canft dislike it because I find Mikafs situation so much like my own. Her problem about not really knowing who she is, because of her culture clashing with her birthplacec clashing with everything she knows, and coming from such a strict family with rules she just doesnft understandc being forced into a marriage when all she wants is to marry a man who will love her for who she is, just as she as, and not because of where shefs from or where she lives. This is me exactly. Because of this, no matter its faults, I find that I liked Tokyo Wankeifs story. I could relate to the plot, and to Mika. Regardless.
So there you have it. I enjoyed it. _________________
Should you want to get a head start on who this guy was, you might check out "Kagemusha", the film Kurasawa Akira did about this character in 1980. Doubtless Kurasawa's slant on this guy will be different from a Taiga's take... but it'll give you an intro.
Dang. I was thinking about taking a break from Taiga's for a while, but Misa Shimizu is in the cast... so that makes it a must see for me. _________________

The NHK Taiga for 2007 is:
Fuurinkazan.
Arigato Geezer, But they're going to have a tough time giving better performances than what we had in Komyu ga Tsuji Funny how that happens when the cast contains real actors and not J-pop singers/idols.

Then watch Toshiie TO Matsu. Quality acting, a great story line. Cant beat it. That's why Im watching all 49 episodes for the second time with my BF who is still a drama newbie and is totally hooked. We're on ep 16 now.
my gosh this dorama is daymn good!!! It's very nice to see a rare mystery/thriller/action dorama.
I have to say, the cast in it was totally perfect. Hideaki Itou was utterly convincing playing two roles at once, the hero and the villain (Arisue Sei and Amemiya Rin). And Kashiwabara Shuji who played as the blind guy was daymn good he really acted like a real one. 'Tasty' yet very nice to know tha fact that the japanese still has some great young actors in their entertainment industry who is not another dancing boyband pretty face turning themselves into horrible actors only by selling their looks and makes your sister become annoying by making them say "kakkoiii..." or "kawaiiii" every 10 minutes when they're watching a dorama with you in the living room.
No doubt on the script. Maybe that's why Abe Hiroshi agreed on only doing a side-role; being a bodyguard/asassin.
thinking that the manga-ish plot and chara development was too biased to be made into a dorama, once you've seen it, you will be feasted with such juicy mystery, yet the wrapping gives you vivid imagination making the storyline and characters feeling more realistic. And these facts erases all the pessimistic accusitions that i had when i watched the first episodes of this dorama ( the first two episodes were daymn slow and lead into dullness, but it was very worth continuing ). i wonder, why is the rating is so low?

Finished "CA to Oyobi" yesterday. It was quite fun, but felt a bit like a budget version of "Attention Please", even though I mostly prefer the cast in "CA" to "AP".
Then I believe, and I'm sure many of the others here would agree, that I've done you a favour.
I started Kekkon Dekinai Otoko. SO FUNNY!
Just reading that you started Kekkon is enough to make me watch portions of it again. I've seen it about 3 times already and it just gets better each time. It will be one of my all time favorites..
