There's a guy on EBay has about 30 pictures from the 1969 Nisei Week Festival. Interesting to see how much Little Tokyo has changed.

Looks like they ran the parade the opposite of how they do it now. Went up 2nd Street, down San Pedro and then down 3rd Street. These were all taken at the corner of 3rd and San Pedro, this first one, where that Texaco station was is now where Union Bank is located: https://www.ebay.com/itm/235-1969-35mm-Slide-Photo-LOS-ANGELES-Little-Tokyo-Nisei-Week-Parade/202236452973?hash=item2f163b606d:g:y0EAAOSwpYdajicE

This second one, same location, but a better look over at what is now Weller Court, back then it was still Weller Street and ran all the way thru:https://www.ebay.com/itm/232-1969-35mm-Slide-Photo-LOS-ANGELES-Little-Tokyo-Nisei-Week-Parade/382388345436?hash=item59081f1a5c:g:9NcAAOSwNURajib6

Down in Little Tokyo for the Tanabata festival and the first day of Nisei Week. Picked up this years Nisei Week t-shirt: http://www.niseiweek.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/38614660_10155828794743261_6400901413198626816_n.jpg

I guess they figure since George Takei is so active in the Japanese American community they won't get sued by Paramount or whoever has the rights to all the Star Trek stuff.

Was over in Little Tokyo yesterday for last day of Nisei Week. Saw this petition. Apparently, somebody thinks there should be more high rise apartments there that nobody can afford to live in: https://www.change.org/p/save-little-tokyo-save-first-street-north

Dunno how old this news is, it's been about a month since the last time I was at Mitsuwa. Anyway, they are moving to Del Amo Fashion Center. Can't post the link, because I get a message "spam detected". Bang Head

If you can't wait for Nisei Week and anywhere near Torrance the weekend of the 13th, you can get Japanese Bunka fix here: http://www.torrancesistercity.org/gallery/bunkasai2019/bunkasai2019.html

The price is right. Bleah
