What do you guys use to type in Japanese from with in an English operating system? I know there are products available from NJStar.com but $99 is pretty pricy. Is there any other alternatives?

I don't know what operating system you're using, but this excellent website should be able to help:

Yep. just go to micrsoft's site and downloads page. you can also get other asian languages, as well. besides, it supported by M$ so you know it's got backing.

not knowing how to pronounce your family name I just have to guess.. but It would be something like A}hEN} AMAADO RUKUMAN (which would sound rougly like amaad rookman)

Did you set up your keyboard localsH If you did then you should have a small box that says [EN] if you click on it it should give you a drop down that will let you chose japanese [JP] then for most applications you will have to change your input setting to be hiragana instead of direct input. You type sylables and they are automatically formatted in to hiragana. when you hit space after a word it will try to convert it to kanji or katakana based on how it think you most likely want to handle it. continue pressing space untill you see the one you want and hit enter. alternatively... don't hit space, just hit enter and it will stay as hiragana.

Non japanese names should be pronounced normally.
They are also written in english rather then japanese

For Microsoft Win2000 & XP, it's built right in~

Try look up IME input on Microsoft website, they're FREE to download.
