I found this magazine at a Japanese store in Honolulu... Seeing some people here are more familiar with Japanese models than I, I'm wondering if this girl is well known, or known at all for that matter.

BTW, though this magazine is actually a directory for Japanese people visiting Hawaii, it has TONS of great photos of... well, you know... Hawaii... swimsuits...

Yo Groink! I don't know who the hell that chick is. But she is DAMN FINE!!!!! GOD DAMN! Where'd you get that? I've never seen that magazine before....... A good magazine to look at is "Fine" magazine. (Only junk thing is that you can only get it in Japan. It's a Japan surfing magazine. They have all kinds of corny stuff in there like how to make Momi-cha, celebrity corner for "American rap artists" and Japanese surfing "wannabes" corners and stuff.) But the models are great!!!!!

I bought this at Shirokiya in the Ala Moana Shopping Center, about 1/2 mile from Waikiki. Throughout the issue, the girl on the cover, along with another Japanese girlfriend, poses in many different types of clothing. Great shots in this issue... What I find amazing is that the cover girl has her naval pierced. I didn't know this was an okay thing to do in Japan. A few years ago, I went on a blind date with a bo-bo-dah (in Hawaii, this is a girl from Japan) who came to Hawaii to compete in a hula competition. Besides being able to tie a knot of a cherry stem in her mouth, she also wore black nail polish. Someone told me later on that the Japanese look down on the black nail polish type of thing. But now, I see Japanese girls do all sorts of things, including finger nail art. But I've yet to see body piercing until now. I would imagine that having a tatoo in Japan is still a bad thing because of its links to the Yakuza.

Groink-san, you'd be amazed on how much the younger generation of Japanese has changed lately. You'll find that nail polish is nothing! I have many tatoos on my body as well. (And I still went to Onsen in Osaka with all the tatoos I had. I didn't get stares, and I didn't get shot by Yakuza either!) I get it at Hawaiian Tatoo Co. in Kapahulu (Joe M. is the best!!!) Anyways, when I was there to get my last tatoo done, I met up with 2 Japanese girls from Japan. I spoke to them (In Japanese of course) and asked them why they want to get tatoos done. They replied that............ 1)Since they're in Hawaii, they want to do something "outrageous, fun and different" and 2)It looked like fun and 3)They always thought about doing it. Look at Amuro Namie. She got her son's name tatooed on her left arm shortly after he was born. The younger generation in Japan is changing and cannot be compared to "Old Japan" or the "stero type typical Japanese" anymore. The new generation is here. Good but bad in a way. It's good that Japanese are not such "squares" anymore, but at the same time, it's too bad that they are becoming too much "like Americans" becoming Westerninzed and all. Like anything and everything, becoming up-to-date/modernized is good because of advancement in society and whatever, but at the same time, bad because we lose the traditional ways of thought and action.

Yuko's got rounder face. She does resemble Yuko a bit. I think I've seen her before, can't recall now.

Sorry to go against the flow guys, but the gal on the cover of the magazine is only okay...
And it's not because I'm using Ryoko-chan as a gold standard (which she is)... Really!

I don't know dude. ganguro is/was pretty outrageous and JPN has survived that fad.
