'TRICK' series to reach final conclusion with 4th film

Director Tsutsumi Yukihiko is going to conclude the very popular 'TRICK' series - starring Nakama Yukie and Abe Hiroshi - with a fourth feature-length film titled 'TRICK: Last Stage'.

The fourth installment is said to become the most ambitious film in the series, and it's going be the first time that some of the filming will take place in foreign locations. Of course, there will be a lot of gags in typical 'TRICK' fashion, but all the fans of the series are bound to shed tears after this film according to Director Tsutsumi. At the same time, it's going to maintain that certain charm of the series that will even allow people who have never watched the drama or the films to enjoy it as much as everyone else.

Nakama and Abe are going to be joined by the well-known regular cast from the previous dramas and films, including Namase Katsuhisa and Nogiwa Yoko. Starting with the upcoming summer drama 'Keibuho Yabe Kenzo 2', there are going to be various promotions for the movie's Japanese premiere sometime in January of 2014.

I don't even recall there being a Trick 3 movie... Guess I lost touch/interest with this series. Sweat

A fourth movie could be nice, but the last movies and TV-Specials of Trick were just so-so...

I might be as well, but like most people, everyone's moved on.

I don't know if this belongs really in this thread but there's a second season for Keibuho Yabe Kenzo (Hopefully better than the first one)

It's as good a place as any. And I'm with you, I didn't think the first series was all that great.

I also had high hopes for the Yabe spinoff. But I only got to the 2nd ep and I realized it's not as funny as Trick.

More cast of upcoming 'Trick' movie announced

Additional cast members for Nakama Yukie and Abe Hiroshi's movie "TRICK: Last Stage" were announced.

As previously reported, this movie will be the conclusion of the popular "TRICK" series, and not only Nakama and Abe but the familiar cast, such as Namase Katsuhisa, and Nogiwa Yoko, will also be making appearances. The additional cast members are Higashiyama Noriyuki, Kitamura Kazuki, and Mizuhara Kiko.

Higashiyama will be playing "Kagami Shinichi", an employee of a trading company, who goes to a village in the innermost depths of the jungle with "Yamada Naoko" (Nakama) and "Ueda Jiro" (Abe) in order to develop the underground resources there. Kitamura's role will be a doctor named "Tanioka" who accompanies the members to the jungle. Lastly, Mizuhara will play a mysterious shaman who lives in the jungle.

The filming for the movie began on July 5 in Kuching, Borneo of Malaysia, which is known as the city of cats. This is the first time for the "TRICK" series to be filmed overseas.

Nakama commented, "It was my first time in Malaysia, and we were able to film it in the very 'TRICK-like atmosphere' in which all the cast members and the staff members worked very hard dripping with sweat," while Abe said, "It was also in the summer when I first attended the filming for 'TRICK', so I am expecting that we would be able to see a similar atmosphere from the very first work of the series."

"TRICK: Last Stage" is set to open in theaters on January 11 of 2014.

The series had run its course a while back... They should leave well enough alone.

I wonder if this is the 'FINAL' "final":

TRICK to air final special in January

Previously, it was reported that popular "TRICK" series starring Nakama Yukie and Abe Hiroshi would conclude with a fourth feature-length film titled 'TRICK: Last Stage' (to be released on January 11th), and now it was announced that its final drama special will also be aired in January.

This drama special is set in a village located in the middle of a mountain. There, the three beautiful sisters of the "Mizukami family" take control of the entire village and develop a family quarrel over their inheritance. Meanwhile, the family members of the clan begin losing their lives one after another in the ways which can only be described as supernatural phenomenon...

The three beautiful sisters are played by Iijima Naoko, Fujita Tomoko, and Kokusho Sayuri.

Other cast members include Fukushi Sota, Asakura Aki, and of course those familiar regular members like Nogiwa Yoko, Namase Katsuhisa, and Ikeda Tetsuhiro are making appearances.

"TRICK Shinsaku Special 3" is schedule to air in January of 2014.

I have only seen the first season, and I enjoyed it thus far. I have started the second, but haven't yet watched many episodes. Perhaps I should continue sometime soon...

Definitely continue! I LUFFED Trick! All three seasons. I know some people thought it got a bit tiring since the blueprint for each episode is pretty much the same, but I loved the chemistry between the two main characters and that kept me entertained. Mr Green

Katsuhisa Namase to return in TRICK spin-off drama special this Spring

Namase Katsuhisa will be reprising his role as Yabe Kenzo in a new spin-off drama from the hit drama series TRICK" for the first time in four years. This time, the drama SP titled "Keibuho Yabe Kenzo ~ Jinkou Zunou VS Jinkou Zumou ~" (Lieutenant Yabe Kenzo ~ Mechanical brain VS Artificial hair ~) will be shown via au's mobile video service "Video Pass" and TV Asahi Douga. There were two Yabe Kenzo drama SPs made and shown by TV Asahi in 2010 and 2013. In the new SP, his partner will still be played by Ikeda Tetsuhiro.

With regard to having a new drama SP in four years, Namase said that in his career, Yabe is a character which he had a lot of fun playing and he always thought that there was more to explore about him. As such, he is always ready to play Yabe as long as there is an offer from the TV station and looks forward to display the signature traits of Yabe to the fullest this time too.

Co-stars include Hakamada Yoshihiko who plays a genius scientist Deep Manabu at odds with Yabe and has developed a new form of artificial intelligence to solve difficult cases. Yabe will be investigating a series of murder cases taking place at an onsen ryokan isolated due to a landslide and find the serial killer nicknamed Yami no Gyouji (the sumo referee of darkness) who is supposedly responsible for the murders by making use of the artificial intelligence technology.

Watched the first two series. Stopped there. If you've seen two, you've seen them all.
