Just finished watching Antique.

Pretty enjoyable, and like many doramas where the characters go out to eat a lot, it really made me hungry! Cake cake cake! w00t!

Trade/Distro it's all good!!

Hi there
Dont give up on Antique. Even with poor subs it still one of the cleverest dramas made. The humor cant be missed even in a poor translation.
Don't miss out!!
But I would love a set with great subs too!!! Mr Green Mr Green

Yeah, thankfully I still understand a smattering of Japanese, so I wasn't completely reliant on those awful subtitles.

I died laughing every time Shiina Kippei would nonchalantly dump the menu on the table whenever that boy would come to visit Antique. rofl

There were so many brilliant little moments. Like when they used boiler room sounds in the background for tension.
Or Kippei and Naohito having a stare down.
Think I may be due for another viewing!
WAhhhH!!
Shameful Cry Shameful Cry Isnt it ever going to have good subs?

And since Ive started watching dramas from other countries as well my tenuous grip on Japanese is slipping. Puppy Dog Eyes

i wonder why you guys find it hard in looking some sets of series with english sub. i know you've watched antique already, but here in manila(philippines) we can buy a jdorama series that has an english sub already. (or maybe we are too late, because i've just watched it hehe ) antique is one ok. specially the three hunks (shiina. fujiki, and takky). they are so cool. although in the first episode i found it boring.

I too kind of gave up on Antique due to the horrid Esubs. I found them very distracting. If I ever learn enough Nihongo I'll dust it off and watch it again, with something covering the subtitle part of the screen Smile

I seem to remember they translated "waka" (which I think should be "young master" in that context) as "childe". That's just gibberish. bleh

The Esubs I've seen on shows capped from Singapore are sometimes mediocre (I think "100 tales of Horror" were a little duff in parts), but the version of Antique people are talking about really wins the prize for worst.

Maybe for the Japanese series but certainly not other Asian dramas.
Antiques subs are poor but Love Storm's or Snow White's were completely deranged.
have a fun one-EVe

rofl rofl Truly Im not arguing..... they are bad......

Still I found some great humor in the Antique subs sometimes.

Every time I read "Master Worker of Western Foods" rather than the Head Pastry Chef it makes me crack up!!

I watched Antique and its one of my favorite dramas. Mainly because its minus the romance stuff w00t!. I could understand most of the language so the subtitles didn't really bother me. They were funny tough. Gotta agree with donna8157 rofl.

Good afternoon everyone! Hi!

This is my first time to post in this forum. All I could say is I love this TV series. It has brought out so many emotions from a viewer like me. It has made me realize that happiness is the only key for our lives to be worthwhile.

I absolutely love the manga this show is based on, but before I download the series and watch, I am curious as to whether or not the boy's love themes and storylines are touched upon at all in the drama.
really? are u talking about the Antique Bakery manga? i saw it at b&n today and i was going to buy it but i wondered if its the same with the drama cuz i read some of the reviews thats its somewhat of a yaoi going on thing.. even if i read yaoi stuff, i still dont want it to be changed into another version. =T but if its still the same, ill probably go buy it tomorrow Mr Green
