NAKATANI MIKI IS BACK AGAIN FOR ANOTHER HORROR FILM

Photo Source: Sankei Sports - Singer/Actress Nakatani Miki (30) who showed off her acting prowess in the horror film "RING 2" is back again seven years later for another horror film titled "LOFT" (directed by Kurosawa Kiyoshi). The story features Nakatani's character who discovers a female mummy living in her loft.

Nakatani Miki returns to horror in Kurosawa Kiyoshi's "Loft"

In her first appearance in a horror film since "Ringu 2" seven years ago, actress Nakatani Miki (30) stars alongside Toyokawa Etsushi (44) in Kurosawa Kiyoshi's long-awaited "Loft."

The film explores the primal fear that human beings possess, and is centered around the tale of a 1000-year-old mummy. Nakatani plays a writer who witnesses the mummy's resurrection in the home of a mysterious university professor (Toyokawa).

Although she is now known for her versatility as an actress, with recent roles as a working woman, a mother, and a prostitute in a period film, Nakatani was initially saddled with a pure, squeaky-clean image early in her career, before a string of successful horror films in 1998, "Ringu," Ringu 2" and "Rasen," gave her the opportunity to show her range. Her comical performance in TBS detective drama "Keizoku" was widely praised, and in 2000 she was awarded the Japan Film and Television Producer's Association's Elan D'or prize for her significant achievements.

"Loft" is Nakatani's first horror film in seven years, and director Kurosawa cast her because "Her vitality and subtly mysterious gaze was perfect for the lead role." The movie received its world premiere at last October's Pusan International Film Festival, and is already scheduled to open in South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and England following its Japan release.

Nakatani is currently appearing in South Korean film "Rikidozan," and has also been cast in "Kamikaze Girls" director Nakashima Tetsuya's "Memories of Matsuko" (Kiraware Matsuko no Issho) which opens on May 27th. (source: Sanspo)

"Loft" synopsis:

In the middle of a career slump, writer Reiko (Nakatani) moves to the suburbs of Tokyo. In the home of her neighbour, university professor Yoshioka (Toyokawa), she witnesses a mummy coming to life. It was once a woman who for some reason fell into a pond 1000 years ago, and is now severely decomposed. The mummy appears in Reiko's nightmares and her physical condition deteriorates, further preventing her from writing, which leads her to plagiarise an entire novel she found in her room when she moved in entitled "Dearest One," written by the previous occupant... Who is Yoshioka? And what is the truth behind the mummy?

On November 14, 2007 (noon, Japan time) Miki Nakatani will appear on YAHOO LIVE TALK! with Kou Shibasaki, Erika Sawajiri , Keiko Kitagawa and Takako Tokiwa, to promote the newest Kanebo line COFFRET D'OR!

Just finished watching this...amazing...all that star power on one stage...Keiko was cute and charming and held her own ...Sawajiri was all sweetness and smiles, the total opposite from her meltdown...Kou Shibasaki, Takako Tokiwa, and Miki Nakatani looked truly beautiful...it was a treat seeing them all...

Watching Merry Christmas in Summer.

You know Nakatani Miki's a knockout when, despite the frumpy country-bumpkin clothes and bad hairdo they have her dressed in for this dorama, she STILL looks beautiful.

Do you mean Christmas on July 24th Avenue?

The description seems to fit. Smile

BMW

Manatsu no Merry Christmas (Merry Christmas in Summer)

It was a TV series that Miki did in 2000. I love that show.

And yeah, she goes through most of it wearing either baggy overalls, or formless shifts... and she's still the most beautiful woman on TV.
