i usually don't listen to western acts actually.. usually only japanese music and stuff from the region.. but western music is very much around here in the region also.. mtv keeps playing linkin park stuff and stacie orrico and stuff from britain like gareth gates and robbie williams.. so actually here in asia we get a BIG BIG variety of music.. japanese, korean, malay, chinese, cantonese, american, british... blah blah blah... :hehe:

agree with that!

being in a japanese household, we listen to a lot of JPOP. I used to listen to ols rap (run dmc, beastie boys, LL cool j) and since i thought i've grown out of that....until I ran into this kid last week. He's Jin tha MC, the first asian rapper (my fellow cantonese) to go into BET's hall of fame, who are mainly black artists. 7 weeks in a row, winning freestyle rapping against fellow freestylist, until he rapped himself onto a recording contract. Dude has got talent, no denying. It's tough to go up on stage no knowing who your opponent is and then just dishing out rhyme after rhyme, out battling the other guy.

He's also in a movie recently called 2 fast 2 furious. He plays a car mechanic called 'jimmy'.

Another reason that I think he'll go all the way is...he went to the same high school as me!! Small world huh? Applaud

Anyways his site is here:
http://www.holla-front.com/
And be sure to click 'audio/video' to download his "freestyle friday" battles.
Once he comes out with an album, support our fellow asian artist!!

um do we really need to ask this kinda question?? sorry the question just sounds like we're limited and stick into one category.
anyway, to me i listen to not only asian music (such as: jpop, kpop, cpop, flip-pop, etc.)
i also like slowjams, underground music, rap, triphop, trance, electronic, bossa nova, classic and modern jazz, alternative rock, gospel.. practically almost anythng but i cant stand country though Sweat

oh yeh im also picky to mainstream hiphop now idk, i just hate about that 'all about the bling bling and sex thing'. if im gonna listen to a good hiphop the lyrics should have a deeper meaning to it, otherwise the song is a piece of trash.

Oh, I forgot to include Taiko... They had some great taiko demonstrations in Little Tokyo during the Nisei Week Festival...

There's this great Japanese taiko group named Kodo, who are supposed to be the absolute best in the world: http://www.kodo.or.jp/

I'm sure all of us have a cool life in some shape or form. Look at you dude, I wish I can say "Today is my day off. Well, let me bust out my stick, because the weather report says thst the waves are good today." like you. I gotta drive 3 hr for the beach here in virginia, and the waves here aren't nearly as good as SoCal.

That is cool man i too listen to many type of music sometime i can't really understand a words they say but the sweet sound and the voice of the performer really convey their emotion. They says music is the universal language. Anyone here like country music? Big Grin

Mostly J-pop and some K-pop. I get to hear an awful lot of Chinese and Western music owing to the factor of where I live, but not much of a fan. I do enjoy listening to Eminem and Linkin Park though.

Personally, I myself like to listen variety of music from all over the world. I also got quite a lot collection of Jpop which I consider nice, especially SMAP, Ken Hirai, V6, Chage&Aska, Mr. Children, D.A.I and Rena Shiingo(btw she got the chance to be on the Cover of TIME magazine which currently exposed how Japanese culture has rock the world!)

As for western music, I stick to Aerosmith, Alanis Morissette, radiohead, manic street preachers etc (that sort of music) Mr Green

O, I also like classical music i.e chopin, Rachmaninoff, Baroque music Big Grin
So basically I listen to almost anything. I guess that asians are more receptive in accepting music from all over the world. Applaud

I think that europeans and asians tend to be more in touch globally than most americans. Not to say that most americans are ignorant about global views.
