Hi blaupunkt ,
I think Yada Akiko is playing in dorama called "NO LOVER" (Koi wo nan nen sundemasu ka?)", alongside such artistes like : Iijima Naoko, Kuroki Hitomi, Koizumi Kyoko.
It's a new drama (previous season dorama) and already available in English subtitled VCD.
Not yet watched it, but I love to see it maybe someday.

hello KiTHuNg
most sorry about this late reply! and most sorry i forgot to include the url from which i obtained the ratings information.
http://www.videor.co.jp/data/ratedata/r_index.htm
the page is in japanese. it would be best if you could get someone who knows japanese to let you know how the ratings are exactly worked out.
generally, as advised by a friend who lives in tokyo, japan is divided into smaller areas (eg. nagoya) from which a certain number of households per area are selected for the ratings measure. i've heard some things about the way the measurement is done, but since i can't work it out for myself in such a way as to understand it clearly, i won't confuse you with the details.
like yourself, i wanted to know how representative these ratings were of how popular a drama was. at this point, as far as i can ascertain, i would say there is some factual truth to these ratings in terms of if you like X drama so so much, then you would make the effort to watch it no matter what. it captures this group of viewers. so yes, defined in the sense of "most watched", the ratings do count for something.
btw, video research is a well known company. the ratings it has been providing carries a fair amount of clout.
best ... ml
p/s - i would also like to know "how many people" the percentages represent but not a clue! only can tell you there are about 120 million people in the japanese population. so just go with what your instincts tell you is good ne, and certainly yamato was one tremendous drama.
gomenne, this is the best i have for you right now

yamato and summer snow (at least i THINK you're referring to this one) are both great love dramas. i liked both of them, but some of my friends didn't like yamato because nanako portrayed a female "playa".
personally, i think she acted extremely well because she played the role of the playa, but she also did it in a way that showed she had a conscience, you'll understand what i mean if you watch it.
you can't go wrong with either _________________ o|o -- i am NOT ultraman!

Look at these points:
Production - Look and feel of the dorama. Summer snow looked cheap!
Script - Yamato Nadeshiko is such a rollercoaster ride! SS is predictable!
Cast - Yamato Nadeshiko had the top notch Big Guns!
Music - Misia's title song was a big hit worldwide |
Production - Both of em were good! Yamato had richer location! Bigger budget! Busy city with busy ppl.
Summer Snow location fits perfectly to its theme, a peaceful town where ppl know each other. Warm and cloudy climate.
Script - Actually Yamato was more predictable than Summer Snow! The poor wasn't that poor at the end and then happy endin- thing. Summer
Snow was sad and had its happy moments too.
Cast - Yamato had a bigger "star", Nanako herself. Sosuke only whined, not much of progress from him. Akiko Yada was overshadowed by Nanako! Liked Kasuya's part, hehe. Especially the scenes where he jumped on to that Hanabusa guy over the girl-issue.
Liked Domoto's role as a careful big brother of the two siblings. His additive method was quite old fashion. Yes, have to admit that Ryoko didn't do her best at actin. The other actors/actresses did a great job!
Music - You mean nationwide? Misia's song was ok, repetitive and got annoyed.
Summer Snow theme song was a true masterpiece!
So much of warmt and feeling the singer ,Sissel, did for the series!
Both of em are good! Both series have its different meanings, Yamato about money and Summer Snow life!
Yes, I enjoyed watchin both of em!
BTW
the thread starter was talkin about "Merry Christmas in Summer" aka "Midsummer Snow", not Summer Snow.
hehe

I just found Yamato nadeshiko, Love Complex and midsummer snow auctions with english subtitles, but very expensive So I can only buy one of them. Which one of the three would you recommend? |
Go for Yamato! Love Complex, weird! Merry Christmas in Summer, watchable!
If you don't wanna pay for Yamato, check out "Bittorrent Sites" -thread for obtainin jdramas! Yes, Yamato with eng subs is available on the net!
