The wiki still works and it resolves to the same ip address as the main site. The server is at Leaseweb in Frankfurt (aka the old Netdirekt). I think maybe the mysql back end got hosed.

If you know what you want, then (as a temporary measure) look for it at bitsnoop.

The sky is falling on our heads! How do I live without d-addicts?

Someone needs to get hold of Ruroshin. Smile
The site isn't completely down, both DramaWiki and FansubWiki works.
Just guessing here that it could be a database crash, as have previously.

I think he lives in Australia but not in Melbourne. Looks like he hasn't posted on this site since 2007.

Ethlenn have e-mailed him weeks ago but haven't gotten any response, and we keep waiting.

I've been a long-time user of D-addicts, former uploader and currently fansubber, so I registered over here after seeing a tweet by Keiko1981.

This link has been going around on Twitter and people are claiming that some Korean company is to blame. Does anyone know if this might have something to do with it?

I personally don't really care for Korean drama's and the Kdrama fansubbers haven't been active on D-addicts anymore anyway. It would be sad to see the Jdrama subbing community go down because of this...

F*ck you CJ Entertainment America if that's the case.
What a shitty day if that's the case!

No, those are just removal requests, including asking google to remove d-addicts from the search. Besides, CJ Entertainment has been doing this for weeks.

What we saw was the server not loading, then the mysql database being gone and now it's all down. My guess is something got fried big time. Repairing can take a while (especially over the weekend), and usually you wait for any news on that before switching hosts. I'm convinced d-addicts will come back, it may just take a while.

And as fobdstn said, bitsnoop works to find recent stuff. Just found Going My Home ep3.

Fingers crossed
I hope it is not because of a Korean company. Especially since I only download Jdramas.

Hi,
I don't know yet if it is a technical or a legal problem. But the forum server is not reachable for me. Only Ruroshin is in contact with the hosting company and can find out the reason. I'll send him an e-mail too. It could be that the hoster turned the machine off because of legal issues with Remove Your Media LLC (who represent CJ Entertainment and others). We will have to wait and see. Oh Crap

The hoster is in Frankfurt/Germany. So, it is not "Sandy" related. We have daily forum backups and the last one is from Friday Nov 2. So nothing is lost.

Our wikis (DramaWiki and FansubWiki) are running on a different server and are not related to any filesharing activities. So, at least the wikis should be legally safe.

Good to hear nothing is lost. Smile I guess all we can do is wait and see what will happen. I'll try to get my drama from other places for the time being. Thanks for the update. Smile

Thanks MoerkJ

I remember Leaseweb took some flak a few years back in the Netherlands and had to shut down some sites. Might be possible the same happened in this case.

It would be all so much easier if content producers would adapt to modern technology. But noooooo, RIAA, MPAA and whatever they're called in whatever country they operate in like to sit on their outdated business models with dinosaur technology.

but the error reported from bmwracer in the previous page seems to be technical, not legal - it seems that the DB is corrupt..

Yeah, some years ago we had a downtime for a few days because some law firm filed a complaint to our hoster. But as far as i remember it was a misunderstanding. Somebody mixed up the kdrama "Bodygard" (Bodigadeu) with the Kevin Costner Hollywood movie "Bodygard". Doh! And before that, when we had the torrent upload open for everyone, we got similar problems when someone uploaded some unwanted movie torrents (Disney Anime or sth similar).

Edit:
@Milano: true, the error makes it look more like technical problem.
