Went to the Festival today and watch some good ole SF Taiko Dojo performance. Being the idiot I am, I forgot to bring my camera (thought I left it in my car, but I was so wrong... Doh! ) I'm probably going back next Sunday for the Grand Parade, so I won't forget it then.

Yeah, I'll be there on Sunday, walking with either the 2006 CB Court float or the 2007 CB Court float.

I'll try to look for you in the parade. Remember to smash a pie in your face before you start. hehe

One of these days I will help carry the huge mikoshi in the parade.

And I thought that was bubblegum.

PCM: Here's your 2007 Queen Court with Ms. Sawako-Queen-For-A-Year third from left.

I guess it pays to be tall...

...and talented. Her foot-stomping Yankee Doodle got the jury on its feet.

Yep, thanks. I know all of them but was away on vacation in Europe on Program Night.

I was pleased to see a candidate from my town, Fremont.

Other than that, a bit sad about the incorrect program listings--I totally missed the kimono show today. The dance group I saw instead was good, though.

That would be Haseena. You and everyone from Fremont should be proud, she's a very cool person. Of course, I'm proud of all of the 2007 SF Court.

And we're proud of you, PCM, for playing the knight to the ladies.

A perfect day for the parade too. Looking forward to dochira's photos.

Watching my dance group minus me made me miss being part of it this year. Sad So busy with school these days.... Tired

Just to give you an idea, I consumed 3 gigs of space for pics. Granted I was shooting in RAW and Jpeg, it comes out to ~450 pics give or take. It was difficult shooting out there with the sun playing peek-a-boo with the clouds. But it's my first parade watched from start to finish.

I didn't see anyone out there with a pie in the face, but I didn't miss the Court's JAL float.

Friday night, spent the evening at the Friendship Reception dinner at the Miyako. That's where the various committees of the SF CB Festival host the visiting groups such the Nissei Week Court, Hawaii Court, Seattle Court, Japan visitors and VIPs.

Did you photo the 2007 All Japan Kimono Queen? Impeccably attired.

Sunday, spent the most of the day escorting the 2006 SF Court and later the 2007 SF Court.

There was this odd Japanese thrash-metal band playing on one of the float ahead of us, dressed in orange and yellow and gold and white. One of the performers had this big white hose blowing incense-smoke, it looked like a Cheech & Chong-size joint. rofl

Shari, which was your dance troupe? I saw a number of them this weekend.

That was Madame Hanayagi's dance group. They were just ahead of the mayor, sweeping the pavement with their kimonos, making sure his car wouldn't get a flat tire.

We'll have to call you Baron von PCM.

Guess KTSF will show the whole thing next Saturday. Guess dochira's spending his nights sorting his photos. Sleeping

Posted comments to Doch's pictures at the website.

Doch', if you want to be a part of the Mikoshi team next year let me know.

May come down in August for Nissei Week to chaperone the 2007 SF Court.

Aw... no pics of the great food eh? hehe
I went the first Saturday and the 2nd Saturday to eat a bunch of food. Mr Green But I forgot my camera both times.
Some things I ate:
Takoyaki (the lines were always long for this booth).
Spam musubi
Green tea ice cream
Strawberry short cake
Udon
Croquette
Red bean filled pancake things... (I forget what it was called).

I waited for 25 minutes for takoyaki. So I decided to buy 18 of them. Big Grin

I also had some short ribs, garlic fries, and garlic noodles. I looked at the teriburger booth but decided to pass on it.

Late August?

It's usually the second week of August... Guess I'd better check.

EDIT: It IS late August: 18-26... That's the first time it's been that late into August, I think.
