Well, finally got around to trying out the tutorial, and wouldn't you know it, my #@$! computer didn't come with PhotoShop. Mad Got a Dell PC and it comes with Paint Shop Pro, so I tried to see if I could use the terms in PhotoShop for similar ones in Paint Shop Pro. That was a waste ... Angry At this point, I've decided to pass on it. Beaten Too much of a hassle for someone like me who has no knowledge of these types of programs. And that includes all the other things I've tried creating avatras too ... Sweat
But, thanks, everyone for the help. Big Grin I appreicate it! It's just, you "can't teach an old dog new tricks". Oh, well ...

I just checked Mircosoft Paint. The resizing option uses a percentage of the original pic rather than actual pixels.

I use the freeware IrfanView to resize/edit my avatar pics. Download and install. Open pic and goto Image->Resize or press Ctrl+R then a pretty self-explanatory box pops up. You can either resize using percentage or actual pixels. For avatars here, set the width to 150. The height doesn't matter (doesn't seem to be a height limit here?) but obviously don't go overboard. Then File->Save. Save as JPG file and choose 85 for quality to cut down on the file size.

Loveless,
Gotta tell ya, tried using Paint and couldn't get anywhere with it. Bang Head I really wanted to learn to do it so I can change the images whenever I want. I don't want to have to bug you every time I want to change the image.
But, if it's not too much trouble, could I accept your offer, impose on you and ask you to write a tutorial using Paint Shop Pro? I'd really appreciate it! Thanx! But, if it's too much trouble, don't worry about it. Thanks!

If a friend of yours has Photoshop, you can always ask them to burn you a copy. Then you could install it on your comp.

I don't have photoshop. I just take and use the pics "as is".

It's good being cheap and easily satisfied! Beaten

Go to your profile. In the signature box part, you should see a big space to input your sig. The rule is the same as posting pics.

Input the link (to the picture) and surround it by the image ( [img and [/img] ) tags.

For example, [img] http://www.mypictureofUchiyamaRina.com [/img]

Only thing is that you don't add the space between the image tags and the link to the picture. Rather, it should be one continous link with no spaces, the image tag included.

A picture/visual tutorial link can be found here: http://jdorama.com/viewtopic.4483.0.htm

You might want to add that scaling the image down or reducing the .jpg quality a bit will result in a smaller file size, allowing faster downloads for us non-broadband folks... Sweat hehe Beaten

I give you credit for your endurance, Beemer. hehe

I dont think I can figure out how to add pics even with this tutorial because I have a Macintosh.

Thanks.

Like I said, if your scale the image/file size down, it's not a problem uploading or downloading...

Genma has limited image widths to 500 pixels because some people have gone nuts and posted wallpaper-sized images and the like.

Mac or PC doesn't matter, Evie... All you have to do is have a file in .jpg or .gif format and some site (like Photobucket) that will host (store) your pics for you so that you can link to them...
