Can "Winter 2006 Dramas" poll/post be made maybe for every different airing drama season to organize the "Upcoming JDramas" thread that already exists?
I'm not sure if this goes against any posting rules..
I'm just suggesting this since the "Upcoming JDramas" thread has so many separate posts on upcoming dramas along with discussion on them intermixed. >.<; The seasonal dramas thread could consist of all the dramas for that season in the first post and people can get info on them and share discussion below.
No, N's Aoi is based on a shojo manga of the same name. Usually shojo manga are of the lightheared variety, but based on the trailer, I dunno. You're right. It does seem more serious than I thought. Hmmh... looks like I'll have to rely on Gachi Baka for laughs.

Saiyuuki
It was officially announced on Jan 5th, that Takuya Kimura will be making a guest appearance in the first episode of Saiyuuki, broadcasting on Jan 9th. The first episode is a 1 hour 24 minutes special. After that it'll be the usual 54 mins per episode.
Takuya Kimura will play the role of Gen-yoku Daio (Great King of Phantom Wings), an original character created for the serial. This monster lives deep in the forest and eats human hearts. He is so powerful that no one has had the nerve to challenge him. Son Gokuu fights him. No clip has been shown yet, but his costume was displayed and it's all white and gold trimmed with lots of white feathers.
There is some rumor that he might appear in the 3rd episode, too.
I saw the trailer on the official FUJI TV site. About Saiyuuki, man, what a cheap ratings ploy using Kimura! (ha ha ha j/k)
I'm kinda excited about it, because I've never bothered to read "Journey to the West," (xiyouji) and I'm studying Chinese right now, and the teacher's have talked about the story so I figured I'll probably tune in to this and see what it's all about.

im surprised at Saiyuuki's popularity...i remember reading the story in chinese when i was...o....about 4? so that was like 14 years ago...and yet, there still anime's (Saiyuki, Saiyuki Reload, Saiyuki Reload Gunlock) and dramas coming out just NOW (if you dont count the chinese cartoons and dramas)
ive seen this story hundreds of times but im still interested to see what new twists will come about this time round since in every version, theres some new twist to the plot that wasnt in the "original". i predict in like 100 yrs, the story will be completely different, just with the same characters in it with similar characteristics. want proof? read the synopsis of Saiyuki Reload
Quote:
Saiyuki Reload is the continuation of Saiyuki. It is based on four shady characters: a trigger happy monk, a womanizing half-demon, a sophisticated demon who has a pet dragon, and a hungry, hyperactive child demon. They are on a quest for the gods to stop the revival of a man-eating demon lord. As they journey west, they encounter many opponents and obstacles.
~AnimeYume
btw, theyre using guns in this anime -.-''
anyways....im getting a bit off topic...
Id like to see another tear jerking yet "cheerful" drama like 1 litre. that was a really great drama

Well, the Japanese version isn't that accurate of a depiction of "Xi Yu Ji", in fact, it's more like an anime series. If you want to "see what it's all about" I recommend that you watch the Mainland Chinese version of the book. It's great and is pretty accurate, acting is wonderful - especially Su Wu Kung (Monkey King) _________________
