This doesn't really apply to KTSF but I see that in San Francisco they have something called "Crossings TV" mostly Asian broadcasting: http://www.crossingstv.com/programming/programming-san-francisco/

All Japanese programming have been removed from KTSF, I just now realized that today. OMG I am freaking out because I have been watching the Japanese programming on that channel since 2001, and to find out it is all gone now is just WRONG.... Shake Head Shameful Cry

Back some time, there was a ton of Japanese stuff on Saturday and Sunday nights, at least in San Francisco. On Saturday, they'd air dramas and some variety from 8PM to midnight; that was the first time Iron Chef was aired locally, and subtitled. On Sunday, TBS would show either subbed or unsubbed dramas from 8PM to 10.

I remember when the original Hana no Ran aired for a year - an outstanding Taiga drama.

If you miss those great Japanese ads...there's always YouTube.

I was wondering why they were back loading the episodes of the sembei show, airing three episodes the final weekends.

It's a far cry from the weekend programming back in the 90s.

^ Good for you guys up north! Applaud

You need to get those people to drop some of those Home Shopping timeslots and replace them with some dramas or variety shows.

Down here, 18.2 has gone away and now the only Japanese programming we have is a couple hours on Sunday night. The taiga drama and some local stuff. It's probably just a matter of time before it goes away completely. Shake Head

Getting back into the taiga watching habit with Sanadamaru.

It's not the same without Toshi by my side, but still...

She's been missing from NHK Newsline since September 1st. Miki Yamamoto is the anchor during that timeslot now and Kobayashi isn't on the NHK webpage anymore. Puppy Dog Eyes

Thanks for the update. I checked out her Instagram page and she does seem to be in New York now. Too bad she didn't come to Los Angeles, wouldn't mind having a roommate. Naughty

Maybe Kobayashi is back with NHK. She did a piece today from New York about space saver apartments. I wonder if this is full time or just part time. Speaking of part time, Yamamoto is gone almost as often as she's there. What ever happened to good old Japanese work ethic? Head Scratch

It looks like she's back full time now. I noticed last week that the NHK news at the top of the hour, weekday afternoons, she's anchoring the broadcast from New York. Good to see her back on the air.

^ And I noticed a few weeks ago Minori Takao has joined the New York bureau as well. Looks like she and Kobayashi are alternating being anchor. Found this online:

A big congrats to Ms. Takao Minori for assigning to US to join Catherine Kobayashi on NHK Newsline from NY! Takao was last seen in Newsline Asia 24 as an anchor in April.
