Rie Miyazawa announces finalization of divorce

Miyazawa Rie announced through a fax statement to the media on 18 March that she has divorced her husband after going through negotiations for close to 4 years. The couple met in Hawaii when Miyazawa was there at the end of 2007 for a CM shooting and her husband who is a former surfer and entrepreneur, was the coordinator for that trip. Miyazawa later announced that she was six months' pregnant in February 2009 and the couple got married two months later. Their daughter was born on 20 May the same year. However, Miyazawa revealed in May 2012 that the couple had already separated and were in the midst of divorce negotiations due to differences in their thinking. It was reported that Miyazawa's husband was shuttling between Hawaii and Japan which led to problems from an early stage. The divorce negotiations took a long time primarily due to their daughter's custody issues but it is believed that Miyazawa has obtained custody and her daughter is due to enter primary school in April.

In her statement, Miyazawa commented that the decision was made after numerous discussions and she hopes that with the divorce finalised, she will move on with new resolution as an actress and a mother and called for the support of everyone around her.

Noriko Sakai was married to a surfer as well and he did a pretty good job of derailing her career. I guess one word of advice for Japanese actresses is, "Don't marry a surfer!!"

Rie Miyazawa and Go Morita officially announce their marriage

Rie Miyazawa and Go Morita announced on March 16th that they had officially registered their marriage. This is Morita's first marriage, but the second for Miyazwa, who was previously married to a Hawaii based surfer turned entrepreneur. They were married for seven years and divorced in 2016.

The marriage was announced to fanclub members and the couple released and official announcement in which they said, "From here on we would like to support and motivate each other as a family, while spending an enriching time together with care."
