1. Yup!
2. Unfortunately not.
3. Yup! a proper codec is needed to able to view the media. Latest Divx codec is good enough (www.divx.com). Ffdshow is superb! no divx and xvid codecs needed when you install ffdshow.
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=53761
Download the latest alpha version or version "2003-01-03", I have this installed. Works perfectly!
Be sure to uninstall your previous codecs before installin ffdshow!
I highly recommend BSplayer for viewin media files!!! Why? Cos it's the best! It's not heavy compared to Windows Media Player!
BSplayer rocks! No doubt about it! You can get the latest version here
http://www.bsplayer.org/
4. Yup. There are other bt sites as well. Be sure to check out "Bittorrent sites" - thread in Discussions on dramas.

There you go! No problem, glad to help!

i recommend using bittorrent++. you can manage all of your downloads in a window with a nice interface, overall its more organised and does some automated downloading.

I had experience with bittorent client (not bt++) when I open many download windows my computer performance will drop significantly. I don't think because the bandwith because it's rare to see the speed above 20KB, well my guess is the software it self. How about using BT++?

PostPosted: Mon Jul 21, 2003 4:32 am    Post subject: Bittorent Question Reply with quote Back to top

Sweat Okay, so I was trying to download Summer Snow ep1 off of a Bittorent site. However I only have a 56Kbs Modem. After several nights of letting the computer run, and finally finishing the download, all I have is a picture with a lot of static (sounds good though... which doesn't help me).

Before I attempt this again, I thought I beeter ask.... I'm assuming the problem is the slow speed of my Modem and more than likely line noise messing things up as I D/L? If your on a phone line can you just rule out using Bittorent?

Thanks!

You have the latest divx installed on your comp? Download the latest version 5.05 on www.divx.com It should work.

No, a 56k doesn't affect anything, it's only s-l-o-w at downloadin.
To heavy internet users, the 56k is an antique. Slow and inconvenient.
Have to respect you for your persistance, on the 56k Smile

Isn't it about time to switch to a DSL?

Don't erase Ep.1 after doing the effort in downloading it nights after nights!! It's probably like Pemu said; you're missing the needed codec.
You can ether download the new version of divx player or you can try updating you're Windows Media Player WMP, just click the " ? " tape in the WMP-opionsbar and select check for updates (If you use Window XP)!

Gambate!!!!

I know, 56 is a bit slow. I'd LOVE to get a DSL line, and luckiily my ISP doesn't charge anything extra for using one, however the phone company does ^_^. I've been thinking about it,... maybe after I graduate in Jan. and get a better paying job, then I can do it.

I just realized what the problem might be... I didn't realize you needed a "DIVX Player." Ooops... It auto loaded its self into RealPlayer, and i really didn't give it a second thought. I'll try the DIVX player and see if that helps any ^_^.

Well, it does look like it's a Codec problem, even with the newest DIVX pllayer Sweat. Anyone happen to know anything about "FOURCC code XVID"?

Well, at least now I know that it isn't the file, so thanks everyone ^_^v. At least I know I'm not wasting my time downloading, and won't be worried about giving it another try.
