Hi Loveless,

Were you there? Dude, I don't get paid for the J-ENT related interviews. All of us in the promotions for Japanese or Asian artists, we are investing our time and money, so we can bring these artists to the mainland or promote Asian music in the US. When we meet with a company or label in Asia, they don't pay for us to travel. It all comes from our pockets. The long distance phone calls...again, using our own money. The time we put into this.... It's expensive and its so time consuming but its something we believe in.

There's several of us who have different talents which we serve the different entertainment related companies or labels but the goal for me, it's the same thing it has been for my work since the day I started doing this and that is to support and promote Asian and Asian American artists and breakdown the barriers that exist for Asian entertainers in the US.

What I do for a living...is the same as you. Create ads or graphics, write press releases or PR related promotions for clients and try to make a living. The entertainment side is something that I enjoy doing. There are benefits but definitely not monetary. Attending parties, knowing celebs or hanging out at covering events does give people the impression that I'm like loaded with money but dude, that's not the case.

As for entertainment writing, I give people the opportunity. If I like their work, if they can write (know a little about AP press style) or are talented via photography (good judgementt and know their boundaries of not trying to flirt and mess with the artists - which has happened before) or event planning, I'll give you a chance.

It's all good!

Hi Loveless,

You have to deal with the record label and management(s). As for hanging out, if you work in media or cover entertainment, you are bound to start meeting friends and certain people that many others know as music celebs and such. It's not a bit thing really...but there are levels of stardom. I have not met with Hamasaki Ayumi or Morning Musume and get to chat with them or anything like that, but there are those not super-popular that live regular lives. Unlike the U.S., attention span for Japanese artists are quite short.

For Puffy, they are the coolest to work with and pretty open and joke around. Same with TMR. But I'm not in the league as some friends and associates who interview them daily, have dinner with them or get invited to their homes or have them come to your home and such.

For me, it started back in 1993. It was hard because I was just a gaijin. Then in the mid-90's, a few writers for Japanese papers notice how I would post and comment on Japanese entertainment related news and they would interview me and from then on, developed good networking with friends and associates involved in the industry.

What kind of work do you deal with in fashion? I think that's so cool! As for the money thing, yeah...it does suck! Having your own business has it's perks but late payments really do put a hamper in things and that voice in my head keeps reminding me to get back into corporate life for that weekly income..but I'm pretty cool for now.

Since you are in a similar field as I'm in...the most expensive thing for me is purchasing the software licenses...hardware... It's so expensive! Everytime I have money, I have to put it back into my business. But upgrades, software, misc. stuff like royalty-Free images, etc.... and whatever I need to upgrade on my Mac.

It's cool to meet individuals who are into similar things - I'm interested in like the pop culture, fashion, music, video games, etc.

As for KROQ...yeah! Smile

holly kawazaki !!! .... that's still better than us 'regular folk' dude.... they wouldn't have a normal conversation with us even if WE PAYED THEM... that's why i kinda envy/respect/drool after what u do XD... damn it now everytime i listen to puffy i think of ur interview..lol darn u....

This is as close as we've got to a T.M. Revolution thread, so:

T.M. Revolution to hold live in Taiwan

T.M.Revolution will be holding his first live in Taiwan on October 19.

This was announced by Nishikawa Takanori on June 14 on the red carpet of the 'MTV VMAJ 2014' at Maihama Amphitheater. The live will be titled 'T.M.R. LIVE REVOLUTION '14 in Taipei', and the venue will be announced at a later date.

Together with this announcement, T.M.Revolution has launched an official Facebook page for his upcoming Taiwan concert.
