I think the dialogue is very well-written. I love the light, funny and fast dialogues between the 4 main casts... Eri Fukatsu did a great job portraying the role of Sanzohoshi. Shingo fits really well with Songokuu character(comical, loves to eat, hyperactive, hmm...its almost himself^^), he acted alot natural here, rather than when he acted as Isami Kondou.

Havent's seen much of the pig and kappa's characters...but they're quite interesting...

Rinrin, the thief girl, is interesting! I'm glad she's gonna be a regular character. I'm looking forward to see more of her scenes. And I wonder, if she'd become Goku's love interest?^^

The special effects is nice. Not cheesy, and not too much.

The fight scene between Songokuu and Genyoku Daio (Kimura) was really well-choreographed and detailed. I just wish this was applied to all of the fight scenes x)

Costumes are odd, indeed.

For those, who's comparing this with the chinese version...may I know which version? The 1986 Mainland China one? Or, the Hongkong version with Dicky Cheung/Benny Chan? Just curious^^ I've never watch them, though.

hah~~

yanie, if I were to compare, i'll compare it with the HK one cos both has the funny factor in it.

I just watched ep 1 today and I was laughing from the start till the end. But when I saw a yasashii looking Goku... I was like "Argh, kill me plz..." Bonk

i laughed hard while watching Kimura and Goku fighting. Don't ask me why. while watching I felt as if they are doing some kungfu stuff in concert. reminds me of 2002 concert where they did the star wars theme. rofl

LOL!! I know wat u're talking about! I think, all Smappies must be laughing watching the first 6,5 minutes! It was practically a SxS skit! haha! The way Kimura acted, was just soooo SxS-Kimura!!! xD

But, still...I was really impressed with the detailed fight choreography in this scene. And Kimura did great with the fighting scenes, considering his heavy costumes, I thought he's gonna have trouble moving...but his moves flow perfectly...using the 2 short swords, looked really cool^^

Well...for me, its not only the yasashii Goku...but the childish Goku, the angry Goku, the Goku that always wants to pee...haha, all of them! Suki!

DESHO?

it's like i'm watching sxs instead of saiyuki for that 5 minutes.

for those who wanna compare i would reccomend the HK TVB Dicky Cheung 96 one..The first one gotta be the funiest one...The second one with Benny Chan werent bad, but i just thought Dicky Cheung played monkeyking better...Don't bother with the Dicky Cheung produced/tawain 2002 one...i watched bits of it and thought it was rubbish...never knew there was 1986 one...

i watched the first 5mins the fighting scene was funny...
didnt watch anymore..waiting for subs... Fingers crossed dont wanna spoil it...

The 1986 Mainland version was said to be a classic. Much like the 1978 Japanese version, I guess? Some people with "different taste" thinks that the HK one deviated too much from the original, and prefer the Mainland version much more coz it stick true and not out-of-characters. Just read some reviews about it^^

You can read the Mainland version review here: http://www.spcnet.tv/china_journeytowest.shtml

Hmm... I wonder if KimuTaku's character is like the last boss, or like someone they fought before the desert scene? His character was not in the original novel (I think), and Gokuu didn't have ring on his head yet Crazy I wish he would appear again though.

Well, I guess...if Gokuu didnt have the ring on his head yet...Genyoku Daio must be an enemy before the desert scene. But yeah, somehow they made the scene, looked like he is one of the tough enemy to be fought for few eps later...I know wat u mean^^

Anyway, minna-san!! The english subs is out on d-addicts!!! thanks alot alot, 8thsin!!! You're an angel! And thanks alot to your team too!!!^o^

The Saiyuki anime rocked. Dancing

Im having a hard time picturing Eri as Sanzo though.
Shake Head Pretty bizarre idea.

Eri Fukatsu as Sanzohoshi, The Priest. Japan has mostly casted female actress to portray this role, I guess because of the priest's soft and gentle character? She really has shaved her head bald for the role of Sanzo. Fukatsu's willingness to take on this role is said to be due to the flop of Slow Dance and as a sign that she takes responsibility for this matter.

And Slow Dance was great IMO! I thought she was terrific in it!

Hmm..not quite sure what to make of this series yet since the only thing I have to compare with it is Mainland China's version (which is one of my favorite drama series of all time from when I was a child). I haven't seen the anime series so I'm not sure how close it is to that, but so far .. I don't like it very much. I find Sun Goku a little too loud. Lol. Characters seem a little more over the top, but then again it is based off of an anime series.

I believe this saiyuki is not based on the anime... am i missing something? Head Scratch

but Gensomaden Saiyuki, the anime only takes the basic elements (they're going to the west, and the group's made up of a monk, a monkey, a pig and a ... not sure what demon gojyo is...) of the legend...

There'd have been an uproar if the director had decided to have a monk with a head full of golden hair Mr Green

I finished the Saiyuuki fanvid. There were way too many scenes, so I decided to divide it into two different ones. I'm gonna upload another one in a week or so Wink
