After seeing all the other new dramas that Takoyama has posted, this is definitely the one to watch. Victory! Peace!

(Koshonin doesn't count: it's a sequel... But it's also a must watch. Bleah)

I watched the 1st episode and thought it was ok. I was expecting 20 high school ikemen to bust out and yell "Yankumi!" Fortunately, that didn't happen. Beaten This one does look promising.

The synopsis seems reminiscient of a 1998 dorama, Tabloid, starring Tokiwa Takako as a highbrow journalist who gets demoted to a lowbrow tabloid. Good supporting cast including Sato Koichi, Tomosaka Rie, and Sanada Hiroyuki. It was a pretty serious drama with Tokiwa giving a fine performance and Sanada in a creepy role as a suspect who may or may not be a murderer.

I'd love to watch it in HD since I just got a WD player that can play from USB drives. The only eps I can find with subs are SD .divx with hard coded subs. Bummer. I hate to watch SD blown up since I'm just getting used to being able to watch HD content.

The rationale and methodology of the subs seems to change every week. I'm lost.

The impression I'm getting is that they are using divx with xsubs precisely because they can't be demuxed. You have to watch on a PC using Divx Player. No other app I know of will play the embedded subs in a .divx file. Maybe if you have a blu-ray player that does .divx. My stand-alone player won't play .divx larger than 720x576 resolution. My WD player will, but it won't show the xsubs.

Plus there seems to be no way to know for sure what you are downloading. It's all kind of a mess.

If you can play .mp4 you can get hard-subbed HD episodes. Go to Sars Fansub site and check into how to get episodes from IRC.

There's a list of episodes in both SD and HD format with strings to paste into the IRC client once you are connected to the Sars server.

Episodes 1-5 have English subs. They are either hard subbed or embedded, that's all. The IRC downloads are hard subbed. The best quality videos from torrent are using embedded .divx subs, which makes it a pain to watch on HDTV unless you have PC output to your HDTV. I'm watching the IRC HD ones now. Not as high a quality as the torrent releases but still noticeably better than the SD ones.
