how did u guys become interested?
I'm a rookie thats 4 sure, been a fan for only about 6 weeks. My first impression to laruku was not that good, the first time I saw ready steady go played on MTV last year, thought that it was definitely not my "stuff". The next thing happened was kinda funny since a friend had offered me to at least listen to some of their songs before passing judgement. So I ended up listening to brillliant years, ready steady go and hitomi no jyuunin (by his demand). hitomi nu jyuunin struck my ears and blew me away. I couldn't help becoming an addict, tracking down their latest news and downloading every single thing about them that I came accross in the internet. I must admit that listening to J-rock isn't easy when u're accustomed to listening western stuff, since they have completely different and distinct flavor of their own. This thread is the best thing that could ever happen 2 me.

I first heard their song flower a few years ago but back then I didn't like men singing in Japanese (don't know why...) and I never heard any Japanese rock so I thought it was weird. I deleted the song.
Then in February I was on a website with streaming Japanese music videos, so I somehow came across hyde's video for HELLO. I saw hyde for the first time and I saw how very very sexy he is. Also, I liked the song very much! So I looked for more hyde videos but then the search showed all these L'Arc~en~Ciel videos! I was confused at first but I figured out that hyde is the lead singer of L'Arc~en~Ciel. So I decided to give them another try.
I saw the video for niji and loved the song so much! Then I saw another video and the song sounded familiar.. It was of flower! Well, this time I heard it I liked it!

i never had a group favorite, because i didn't like so much the music, but now i have a group favorite l[color=white]aruku[/color]...and punk en ciel!!!!....

I'm still considered new I guess, about last year ^^" I'm an anime fan and I fell in love with Full Metal's alchemist's second opening, Ready Steady Go~ It caught my attention on Hyde's vocal. And then during Pop Jam their performance of New World at Pop Jam, I was over them XD!!! Hyde especially

darn....Laruku should come back to the US!!!!!
still can't get over the fact that i missed the Smile Tour 2004 at the Otakon Convention in Maryland. it'll only cost me about $50 or so to go to the Otakon convention and to watch Laruku's was free as long u paid for the convention. and i'll probably cost gas money if to drive to Maryland, still it would've been worth it. (dun mind me, i've complaining about this fact for a while. needed to get it out)
me? just started last month... the first laruku's song that i listen is an anime theme song ( if i'm not mistaken) , samurai x. i like it very much and i think it's cool. in my memory, i just know it's a 'cool' song, but i can't remember what is the song because i listen to it long time ago and i didn't know anything about laruku at that time. does anyone know this anime song title?
later, i listened to Ready Steady Go from Fullmetal Alchemist and i started to know laruku a little. i get to know them more during thier release of Awake and i like the song JyoJyoushi. i love Hyde's voice and his songs especially the album Roentgen. i like him in the movie Kagen no Tsuki. i thought he's a very cool and kinda mysterious person for my first impression, but later i found out that he's very kawaii too after i watched him on some tv show. i just get to love laruku more as i get to know them more!!
did Ken said something about 'dolphin' in the Smile Tour 2004 in US? i watched the concert on dvd, i just only heard him talked at the end of the concert.

Hmm... I used to be a hardcore X-Japan + Luna Sea + GLAY fan until I saw HONEY's PV on some ranking show back in 1998. I went crazy because it was sooooo damn cool and full of energy. Bought the single the next day and never looked back. Their imported singles and albums were very easily available in Singapore back then, so that helped to fuel my craze.

I just saw the talk show that tetsu was on (2005.08.08) and it was really saddening to see him soooooo depressed about his current situation! (though people who dislike him will probably say he's just gaining sympathy...)

Wow, did you download from youyou? I tried, but the download speed was soooo slow (said it would take 34 hours or something like that) and then it just kept freezing up so I gave up

I couldn't get the file to upload so I spent my time doing a simple translation (based on the Chinese subs) of the show. Until Nanai from Pieces can do a much more accurate sub, I think my lousy one is readable for now. She will probably get a fit if she sees this though...

Ta: To be a musician?

A: If you are capable of thinking that way, it means that you are suitable.

A: People who are truly unsuitable will think of themselves as genius-es, such that people around them will get irritated.

Te: I like both. I love tall buildings, you can say that its a "tall building" obsession. I occassionally go to New York and Hong Kong in private.
A: What kind of buildings do you like? As in the material, style, architecture etc.
Te: Ah...My favourite is the Chrysler Building in New York.

A: That is a new-century [something I can't translate] principle. The Chrysler building can be seen from many places. It is regarded as an artistic example that posesses the new-century XXX principle [sorry this part is rather messed up]. Lately, people like Ando Tadao and Tange Kenzo [note: they are modern Japanese architects] have been using smooth glass, steel and iron, concrete to construct buildings that have good facilities and functions but are not beautiful at all. They are like old and broken down hospitals. This is what is being built nowadays, I guess you don't like it?
Te: Ah...this...[he appears hesitant]

Te: Up till now. In order to find a place that I truly like, I moved house.
H: But this might be due to some reasons that are embedded in your sub-consciousness right?
(tetsu laughs)
A: He (Hiroyuki) will start to analyze (you) bit by bit.
Ta: Because we have already missed one commercial slot.

Ta: So let us now perform a spiritual analysis. His past life was...
H: Hmm... he is always rejecting my soull probing [actually he means that he is trying to see tetsu's soul, but I don't have a short word for that], always closing himself. Actually soul probing is not something that anyone can see. If he or rather, his soul, is in a state of violent rejection to outside probing, it will be rejected outside [not sure what he meant, probably referring to his probing attempts being rejected].
A: Correct. There will be a defensive wall.
Te: That is my own self?
H: Yes. If I have to force my way into you time after time, it wil be uncomfortable. I will feel uncomfortable. So I try to be "careful" on my way in since just now. Then let me first say something that might be extra, may I?
Ta: Yes, please do.
H: Sorry, it might seem wierd saying this. Up till now, you have been working hard living till now.
Te: Me?
H: Yes. It is the same from now on. You need to have the ability to continue living. Being born into someplace in this world and living on. That is survival. However, with regards to that (survival), there has always been conflicting feelings right.
Te: Yes.
H: You must accept your own life more (than what you do now), how should I put it.
A: The purpose of survival.
H: Yes. If you do not have a reason for living, then it is not too good. Then, the reasons behind it...just treat it as though you are listening to a story in your dreams.
Te: Yes.
H: Actually, with regards to your past life...I am very sorry for saying this...in your past life, you were abandoned by both your parents.
Te: Ohh...
H: Also, you did not have a fixed place, always wandering about. Always being bullied by evil/ill intentions, very very often. I see that you have closed your heart to everyone. Isn't there those kind of veils?
Te: Yes.
H: [something I can't translate]. And then, like animals, those small horses etc.
Ta: Ponies?
H: Yes. Ponies. That is like in manga. Like "3000 Leagues in Search of Mother". Do you know that kind of appearance? It is just like that.
[Note: ��������˂ĎO�痢 is about an Italian boy, Marco, and his journey in search of his mother. Italy was in a deep depression, so to support her family, Marco`s mother went to Argentina to work as a domestic (like Piccolo`s sons went to America to work in Porco Rosso). But after she wrote to her family that she was sick, her letters stopped coming. So Marco decides to go to Argentina to look for her. Marco has to travel across Argentina to find her, meeting many wonderful people, and encountering many adventures during his journey.]
The energy and the emotions/feelings back then, even though you did not notice but right now in your work, style etc, that same energy is released. Of course, guardian spirits[direct translation] are another existence, and there are a few of them. However, the one that has the deepest influence on you is a monk/priest.
And under the influence of that guardian spirit, even being reborn in this life, human relationships including family ones, you have always been detached in a way. It the kind of family values or emotional issues like what everyone or friends think about - and that to you is something you cannot comprehend.
[I have no idea what this has to do with the monk/priest though]
A: It is cold and desolate, being all alone.
H: Yes.
(tetsu nods in agreement)
Using those cold and desolate eyes to look at things has thus caused some trouble. And so, not caring how things became what it is now, if this continues, life will be tough.
Ta: Then how can this be changed?
A: The simplest way is to bid farewell to the consciousness of your past life.
Ta: Bid farewell?
A: Past life (tetsu's) is definitely one that is rather tragic.
(tetsu looks as if tears are about to roll down)
Human beings are the type that even though something sad has happened, they can continue watching television and laugh. But once they are back to reality, they will burst into tears. Tetsu's past life is the kind that...
[The subbers didn't complete this part but I guessed Akihiro was saying that Tetsu's past life was the type that didn't even have that brief respite of laughter in between sadness, his was pure sadness. It is abit deep but I hope you get what I mean].
So, having always been looking at the darkest of the darkest side of people - cold, cunning, filth, betrayal etc. Always looking at that kind of view (of people) while walking along that small twisted path. And then saying, "Hmph, so-called humans are creatures like this". And so, that is what has been carried over from (tetsu's) past life.
Since he has already seen and endured those twisted portions, why was he reborn in this life? Was it for him to experience happiness, to make others happy and then being able to enjoy his life to the fullest?
That is why L'Arc~en~Ciel is so popular and sales have been good. However, the consciousness of the past life does not agree (with that purpose for tetsu's new life). Because you have always been bearing the burden of the past life's consciouness, dragging it along with you. Thus, you need to put it down, to graduate from your past life.
And then you have to openly and bravely accept that many people are happy, that your fans accept and support you. You have to be happy yourself too. If you can change your consciousness in such a manner, it will be good.
Ta: Changing your consciousness...
A: Yes. Because you are already equipped with these qualities. [I take it to mean that she is saying that tetsu is equipped with qualities that will help him lead a happy life and his past life experiences is an obstacle to him leading such a life]
Ta: Ohh...
H: Talking about France just now, it might not be France (Taichi jokingly said earlier that tetsu used a French word for the band name because his past life was somewhat related to France). His past life seems to be more closely related to Spain.
A: Inca? [referring to the ancient Inca civilization]
H: Ah...so it is like the scenery in Toledo [Toledo is a city in Spain which is regarded as one of the most important centers of European medieval history]

H: Sorry.
A: And so, the Inca people are a very noble group with high character etc...but after being defeated by Spain, they kept on running and running all the way to the mountain peak.
Ta: And now, that person in the (tetsu's)past life is...
A: There are many past lives, and there are those that keep on repeating over and over again. The Inca civilization was built on the highest place, what was it called...

Machu Picchu. Yes yes yes, Machu Picchu. [The Inca people lived in the Andes Mountain at this place. It is very high. Using stones to build a city at such a high place, it was discovered recently (1911). Past lives like that do exist.
H: And so when a person is born, he lives on experiencing bits and pieces of everything.
Ta: So he becomes hardened, having gone through hardship.
H: Yes, there are alot of lessons.
Ta: Having said that, do you wish to change your current feelings?
Te: Hmm...
A: There should be something that you must have thought of doing right?

The proper way of saying should be that it is a silver emittance but with an outer ring of black. So I am sorry, for what I have said are not pleasing to one's ears. From this moment on, it might not be possible for you to continue living. Because now everyone needs you, and there is work...but in future, if you suddenly feel that living is meaningless, then it is bad...

hm....now i'm gonna answer the question of how i became interestd in Laruku.
letsee, i'm still new to L'Arc~en~Ciel since my obsession w/ them started June 2005. the first songs i heard was Evergreen, and Ready Steady GO. at first i wasn't a huge fan of j-rock, but then a friend of mine who is a major J-rock addict kept persuading me to listen to Laruku by burning a CD of their songs. it was then that i went w/ Laruku. started reasearching about them, downloading everything from songs to PVs. i loved Hyde even more when i first saw him in Moon Child. and after seeing the Niji PV i got hooked!
