New ramen joint opened up in Honda Plaza in Little Tokyo, across the way from Sushi Gen. Men Oh Ramen.
Specializes in Tokushima ramen, an area in Japan famous for its pork.
Ordered the signature Tokushima ramen which is a a Kurobuta tonkotsu-shoyu (Kurobuta pork bone-soy sauce broth) ramen which is bit different from the straight up tonkotsu ramen which is ubiquitous throughout L.A. The shoyu cuts through the richness of the rich pork flavor so it's a bit more balanced in flavor which is slightly less oily. Straight (hosomen) noodles of medium thickness which were cooked nicely and were al dente.
Topped with stir fried butabara (pork belly) that is thin not thick like the buta kakuni style pork belly and traditional chashu (roast pork). The chashu is delicious...fairly thick, roasted, tender and delicious. Some of the better chashu I've tasted here in LA. Ramen also has the ajitama (seasoned egg) and green onions.
Overall it was pretty tasty. A welcome addition to the panoply of ramen shops in LA.

Hehe. Gyoza was just okay. The gyoza at Ramen Mottainai and Daikokuya are better but it's cool b/c obviously the ramen was the reason I decided to try this place out.
Last week went to "Guisados" in East LA because it was boldly named the best taco shop in LA by LA Weekly. It was truly amazing. They have a huge variety of tacos but thankfully they have a sampler of six mini tacos served on handmade fresh tortillas. All the tacos are filled with stewed or braised meats which is their specialty.

I was thinking about you when I posted that pic. Fortunately for ppl so inclined the poached egg is cooked a bit more here than most places so you could easily remove it without breaking the yolk.

I went with one of my best friends who is Mexican. He was skeptical of the claim best tacos, but even HE was duly IMPRESSED. I trust him in all things Mexican cuisine so considering the flavors won his praise, I definitely feel confident in recommending this shop to all others.
