Okay, I'm three weeks late, but congrats to Andy Murray for being the first Brit to win Wimbledon since 1936. Applaud

I read somewhere that this year was the worst showing at Wimbledon by American men since 1912. Personally, I thought the worst showing by American men was anytime John McEnroe showed up. Bleah

(And no, I didn't know we had a tennis thread, either. I just stumbled across it while looking for something else.)

Haha, sorry, couldn't resist since his name is also Kei (albeit with a different kanji).

Japan da! w00t! Victory! Peace! Dancing So happy for Nishikori, to beat Djokovic is a big scalp. Now he'll play Cilic. That should hopefully be a good final. I have to say I'm glad not to see Federer anywhere near a final these days.

Yup. The way he was booming those serves I said to myself, "Kei-kun, you better figure something out." He never did.

Yup, with Cilic being 6-6, those serves probably are as intimidating as fastballs from Randy "The Big Unit" Johnson. Sweat

She'll be the underdog, but Naomi Osaka (who is from Osaka) will play Serena Williams in the U.S. Open Women's Final: http://www.latimes.com/sports/more/la-sp-sn-naomi-osaka-usopen-20180906-story.html

Now little girls, and maybe even some little boys, will be hitting up their parents for a new tennis racket: http://www.latimes.com/sports/more/la-sp-sn-us-open-serena-williams-20180908-story.html#

Congrats to Naomi, well-deserved win! Pity about Serena's outburst.

Yup.

I watched the entire fiasco... Sadly, it pretty much overshadowed Osaka's historic win. Sad

Serena let her emotions get to her (again) and it made her look bad. In the back of mind, I thought it was a calculated tactic by Serena to try to upset Osaka's momentum, since Osaka was mostly in control of the match.
