Utada Hikaru to transfer to Sony label and make new release this year

Utada Hikaru has announced that she will transfer to Sony Music's EPIC Record Japan.

Utada and Sony Music are set to seal their contract on March 1. She is anticipating a new release within the year.

Utada resumed her activities last April after a 6 year hiatus. In September, she released an original album "Fantome" which marked her first new album in about eight and a half years.

Utada Hikaru to sing theme song for TBS 2017 Summer drama "Gomen, Aishiteru"

Utada Hikaru will be singing the theme song for TBS Summer 2017 drama "Gomen, Aishiteru" starring TOKIO's Nagase Tomoya which will begin its run from 9 July in the Sundays 9pm timeslot. The song titled "Forevermore" will be Utada's second release since she joined Epic Record Japan in March this year and it will be released on the streaming portals from 28 July. The last time Utada wrote and sang a drama's theme song was "Hanataba wo kimi ni" for last year's NHK morning drama "Toto Nee-chan".

It has been reported that Utada Hikaru has gotten a divorce.

Utada married an Italian man in February of 2014. A year later she gave birth to a son. She was previously married to photographer and director Kazuaki Kiriya.

It's not know exactly when they divorced, but news of the divorce has already reached her husband's hometown. According to people acquainted with the couple, it's been several months since they went their separate ways.

Utada Hiraku to release 7th album in June

Utada Hikaru will release her 7th album "Hatuskoi" on June 27th.

The album will have a total of 12 songs including "Oozora de Dakishimete", "Forevermore", "Anata", "Chikai", "Hatsukoi", and "Play A Love Song" which was digitally released today, April 25th.

Utada Hikaru to release analog version of 'Hatsukoi'

Utada Hikaru will release an analog version of her latest album 'Hatsukoi' on November 7th.

'Hatsukoi' has had good sales since its release on June 27th. The analog version will be released in response to fans' requests will be a limited edition item. This will be her first analog version of an album since 'DEEP RIVER' in 2002.
