I was reading the forums about them charging $20....me and a few people from J!-ENT are just there for several hours to get video footage, interview and take some photos. Although it would be nice to play "Tekken 5" but curious if we can get in there for press or we have to pay $20. Haven't heard back from evo staff...so I posted on shoryuken, hoping to get an answer.

Auron...hehe...don't think so... I'd probably get jumped in the parking lot!
Hehe...the cosplay thing was part of my one year report (cosplay underground www.nt2099.com/cosplay/) on cosplay on why people did it. Auron cosplay was for me to pretty much learn myself on how the experience was (making an outfit and then walking around a con with it on)...one time was enough for that...hehe. Not my thing but I do appreciate people with the talent to make it and look good wearing it.
We just found out it's Cal Poly Pomona....we thought it was Cal Poly near the beach. Hoping the breeze would make things cool...but the fact that they emphasize people to wear deodarant tells me it might be all hot and sweaty at evo. Will be there for a few hours and gives us time to go to the Shrine Auditorium and see what coverage we can get for GPhoria.

lol..gackt is cute in some ways but there are poses that he looks mad fugly, i dont think squall is modelled after gackt, although he was bujingai, speaking of that i heard tidus was modeled after takky, is that true? (my bad if this was brought up) _________________

hehe, last game i started, i played with one thing in mind, Quistis will finish with squall. Now, i just gotta finish the game at least once to see if i'll succeed or not

Hi everyone,
Just got back from our road trip from evolution and G4TechTV's G-Phoria. Evolution was cool and I had fun interviewing the guests and some of the competitors. Interesting insight from people regarding their feelings of arcade vs. console to female participants and the difficult for guys having to go against girls (because people boo guys who beat on the girls during the video game fighting competition). But all in all, this event is intended to what the people putting the event on intended and that is an event for those who are interested and want to compete or watch video game fighting competitions.
All in all, what I expected and it's great to see many people there. Also, cool to see quite a few people from all over the country and the world in attendance.
Off to G-Phoria:
STOP 1: Since I support John and Kal's work for "Harold and Khumar Go to White Castle", we figured why not stop by the makeshift restaurant in Hollywood. This makeshift White Castle was put in Sunset Blvd. for a week to promote the movie and people had the opportunity to get two free WC burgers and watch New Line Cinema actresses work and shake it with their hula hoop. Sorry, the pix are on our photographers camera.
STOP 2: [after a stop at Blowfish Sushi in Sunset Blvd.] - Note...even though it's known for it's cool, anime and Japanese pop culture setting and celebrities frequent the restaurant, for $50...I think I could treat a friend or two and get larger portions than what I received at Blowfish just for myself (and better food). Great restaurant in terms of service and setting/decor but the price of food and the taste is just not as great as we expected.
G-Phoria - We saw Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb of X-Play, We think we saw Carmen Electra and also Anna Nicole Smith but the truth be told. They gave press two different classes....orange tags and blue tags. Very strict...no camera...no audio records...nada..zilch....crap for orange badge peeps.
Those who were close with G4TechTV and their family got to go in and get blue tags and were so fortunate to be able to check out the video game area...play Halo 2, Tekken 5 and other upcoming games and were invited to the post-party. So, many people were squeezed into bleacher seats and I'm not sure what the duration of the show is when it debuts on August 6th but with 20 minute pauses and a few glitches, the award show started at 6:00 p.m. and my gosh...I think after 10 p.m., it was still going on. I think media and people with orange badges really started to leave early. KUDOS on the set decore and hardwork froms staff despite some glitches. A big hit among viewers was the Legends section. Jada Kiss had to perform twice and it's sad that a few people were into it and generate any excitement, trying to get the young people (selected to be in the front) into it but Anna Nicole and Jada kiss were affected by this the most. I wonder if people wanted to have a fun time or they went there just to see the celebs or hope to see themselves on TV. fo As for the awards, people seem to be disappointed when Midnight Racer won best racing game (I think people there wanted Mario Kart), Rikku of FFX-2 won best video game babe but no one we talked to was willing to stay for the whole thing. It seems during the pauses, people were just like...screw this...blue tags went to play games, celebs went to the back for a smoke or chat and people were leaving. Of course, you won't see these crazy things on the award show but nevertheless, I'm sure the magic of editing will make this video game award show look cool on television. August 6th is when it airs on G4TechTv.

Hi Pemu,
An article will be coming up which is about video game events. "Gamers Night Groove" in NYC, "Evolution 2004" and this "G-Phoria" video game awards show.
I interviewed Daigo who is a major player and the guy to beat but he is a very quiety, not sure if shy but as much as people wanted to find out some things about his style of playing and so forth, I knew my time was limited and his focused on the competition. And like most interviews I do, I try to go outside of their interests that people know them for and ask about music, his hair, women, etc.
The other is the Virtua Fighter competitor...Ryoushi, I think (I have to listen to the tape) but he is an individual who received a special ranking in Japan. Cool guy.
Then I pretty much interviewed a female competitor...there were not many but the discussion was about her getting into competiting and why she does it and the challenges for a female video game competitor at these competitions.
Interviewed a person who goes to watch. Why does he just go to watch...is that gratifying for him.
And other players as well.
Hopefully I get the photos from our photographer soon, so I can start gettings laid out for the article.
