Groink, I can not believe that you haven't seen Juon, isn't Noriko Sakai starring in the second movie?

LOL! I'm starting to catch up on my Noriko-chan entertainment. I already have the officially licensed DVDs (raw) for both 1 and 2, but waiting until I can get ahold of some English subs.

In reality I only got the movie Juon to watch Noriko Sakai. However I am a big fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer that I will most likely watch the hollywood version as well.

No, not the Korean version of Juon. But I've seen some of the Korean version of Ring and that was just HORRIBLE. Worse than the American version of it.

really?????? there is a korean version of ju on?

Probably not. I double checked (YesAsia) to see if there was a Korean version...but I think they meant "korean version" as in Japanese movie with korean subtitle. If it was Korean, I don't think it would be called "Juon" and it would have Korean casts in it. Maybe. who knows? There might be one or maybe they're planning on remaking it...but I haven't seen it. Same here. I loved Buffy...and Sarah is one of my fave actress. That's why I'm excited to see this movie. I haven't seen "Juon" or "Ringu"...so I can't compare the US & Asian version of the 2 movies. But I didn't think the "Ring" (US version) was that bad. The girl coming out of the well really freaked me out! Couldn't sleep for days. Google

First I ask for forgiveness in talking about this film. I know it is not q Japanese production. It is just the film that I have seen almost a dozen times and each time it thrills me and moves me and almost breaks my heart with its bounty of scenery and music and overall power.

The only tie in I can give it at the moment with anything Japanese is the fact that I can see Takuya Kimura in the Charles Bronson role.

This is a Sergio Leone Film. The best Western that has ever been made. The music by Ennio Morricone is superb,

Actors?? Henry Fonda..Charles Bronson, Claudia Cardinale..Jason Robards..and on and on.

Not the usual cowboy/Indian script. Almost historical really about the pushing of the railroad through to the west of America.

Has anyone else enjoyed this film and if so please comment.

The last scenes are superb.

Sorry ...had to get it out of my system....

I've seen this film a number of times, but not recently. I've always enjoyed it though, a large part due to Claudia Cardinale Naughty ...

Kimutaku in the Bronson role?? Not a chance...

bmw,,,,

Don't misunderstand...I could never see this movie remade.. ever!. The cast is perfect as it is. However, after seeing Kimura in 'Million Stars Fell' he can do the dark roles.. and now he is older and looks more mature I can see him doing this kind of role. He is acquainted with the American West and knows the Four Corners area so the general setting for the scenes would make him feel at home.
Just my opinion Smile

Yeah, but he's not as gruff and weatherbeaten as Chuck, and that character in West needs that look, IMO... Smile

Well....
you changed her again.

I was looking at your post before and she was sort of looking down at the camera and wearing a dark coloured top. I think she was standing up as I remember. Very superior!!!!

Yes I know what you are saying re being older and weatherbeaten Having seen Kimura doing his Captain Jack comic character he can be totally disguised and very funny. There would be no objections from him to being made up to look old and rough. As for the Acting..to my mind he is very much underrated. If you think of some of the famous US 'stars' who can also act (?) there are some...!.. well they play the role and still retian their personality. This is what Kimura does and thus critics say he is always the same. Actually I have been watching him and I find he is not the same in each role. He retains his personality but still puts it through the character. If you know what I mean... think of Brando and Pacino..they are always themselves in every role..but..they use that to be the character. Kimura can now do that.
Well I know what I mean..not explaining very well....Tell me you know what I am talking about!!

I'm using a program that rotates through various pictures of Ryoko-chan... One pic is not enough! Big Grin

I gotcha. He's in the same pigeonhole as Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, etc... They have to live down their looks and be taken seriously as actors...

Dear bmw...

Well I know you know and now I know I got through. However would not put those three guys together in any category. Maybe that's because my skin creeps at the sight of Tom C and Mel G. Can't stand them. But it is true they have to overcome their 'stardom'.
Actually Kimura is not so much handsome as very attractive. I applaud his talent for doing so many things rather well. He really is a good comic performer as well as the charmer all the young ladies scream over.
As a man you maybe would not feel the tremendous sensuality that comes across the screen with Kimura....I assure you..it gets to me Big Grin

Mr Green

Just saw it opening day yesterday, they actually sold out the 9:30 PM show so I saw it at 10:30. Whew, it's bound to be a modern day stoner classic! Really hilarious movie filled with irrelevant frat type humor. It's like Cheech and Chong meets National Lampoon w00t!

Anyway, it's nice to see John Cho land a part other then that milf guy on American Pie... And same with Kal Penn, he was like what, the Indian exchange student who wanted to learn the secrets of m*ff diving in Van Wilder Rolling eyes

Well, things are definitely looking up for those guys, maybe now there can be more asians in american cinema who don't play martial arts/street racing roles. Smile

Yeah, haha, it's too bad that show never caught on! That was Off Centre, and it used to air on the WB, great show, but I guess, the WB's "Tween" demographic didn't help it in the ratings.

Yeah I know BMW, just being a tad bit starry eyed there hehe
It is a step up though, people have this strange misconception that Asians can't be funny or something unless they are Jacky Chan or Dhat Phan.

Catch you later,
