I'm going to Little Tokyo tomorrow (Sunday). Have plans to do some shopping. Any suggestions on some shops and restaurants to check out? My interests include J Pop, Anime, and Video Games merchandise (specifically Final Fantasy). I was thinking of eating at the soba shop there called Daisuke, as I've heard good things about it.

Also, I heard parking can be a problem in Little Tokyo. Are there any good places to park?

Thanks

Obviously, there's a buncha restaurants in Little Tokyo, but the one I always go back to is Suehiro on 1st street. I always end up getting beef yakisoba and an order of gyoza... Yum. Smile Hmm, haven't been to Daisuke yet. Maybe next week when the Nisei Week festivities start on August 7...

Since Asahiya closed, the bookstore to check out is Kinokuniya, though there's a number of little ones in and around LT that you should look at as well.

If you show up before 11-12, parking shouldn't be a problem, particularly when Nisei Week starts. It shouldn't be too bad tomorrow. Try one of the parking structures on 1st or 2nd streets, it's better than parking in that open lot on 2nd street with the sun beating down your car.

Good luck and have a great time. Let us know how things turn out. Smile

You can go to Jungle and get some good anime stuff. It used to be Anime Jungle, but they changed their name to just "Jungle". There's another anime shop in the Japanese Village, but I've never been to it. I haven't been to Little Tokyo since December.

Little Tokyo was great. It was my first time there. I went to Kinokuniya and spent a lot of money there on books and anime. Mr Green And then I shopped around at Little Tokyo Plaza. I ended up eating at Oomasa in the Little Tokyo Plaza. It was pretty good sushi and sashimi. I still want to try Daisuke. Next time though.

Needless to say, I will be back many more times.

How VERY lucky you are!! I've never been to Little Tokyo! Mad Damn, I leave CA in about 3 weeks, moving to freakin' Missouri damn it. I don't think they have a Japanese broadcasting station there Angry This just sucks, enjoy CA while you can!

Haha, no way man, I live in Azusa, that's just half an hour from LA, I don't never got a driver's license so I have no way of getting there. hehe Pretty dumb that too, I got my permit when I was 18 and never got the license, now I'm 20 and working to get a permit again. Heck, I'm supposed to be studying the damn book right now lol.

Two years later, here we are again with the Southern California Brush Fires.

I hope all from Southern Cali and especially those on the forum are alright.

Hope you'll be okay too.

How far is the brush fire from where you're at?

Was the brush fire 2 years ago in the same proximity as the one now?

My feelings go out to your uncle. That must've been very hard especially given his situation.

This brush fire has just started, so I hope that it doesn't get as bad as the one 2 years ago was.

Maybe because it's hotter in the south?
Not like I know, though. Beaten

I don't think there is anything you could've said without being cliche.
