re 2046.
A good friend sent me DVD of 2046. I have to set some time apart to watch it. Just watched the intro and saw Kimura and his deep voice doing opening narrative. Music fabulous. Can't wait to settle down to it.

Well, I actually heard a lot about him before, but I ignored it all.
I watched Good Luck!! purely because I'm a Shibasaki fan.
And in the first 5 minutes, my jaw was on the floor.
I think he is an amazing actor. I think he is beautiful. I am totally in love with him.
I've only seen him in Good Luck, Pride, Million Stars/sora kura, and Beautiful Life so far, so I'm by no means an expert, BUT
I found all of those characters to be totally believable and completely different.
I do think that if I saw him walking down the street I would actually walk into a lamppost or something by staring. But it's through watching his acting, and that charisma coming across, that makes me like him so much.
I've taken to posting pics of him on my lj lately and I keep getting people asking me who the "hot piece of ass" is. hahahah.
So yeah... I'm not a fangirl, but... if anyone speaks ill of him I'd get irritated. I wouldn't be able to help it. Maybe a lot of people don't see what is so awesome about him. But then again, there are also A LOT of people who do. And they are not wrong.
Also, I don't care how tall he is. I'm tiny and he's tall enough for me. And I like my guys skinny.
I love Takuya Kimura. I don't think he's that good-looking, there are people who look better than him but he exudes a sense of charisma & self-confidence which I think attracts people naturally.
But I'm actually quite disappointed with his choice of dramas over the last 2 yrs, tho it's not entirely his fault. Pride & Good Luck are nice, but somehow I always expected more from him. I wish he could try roles like Naoki of Sleeping Forest & Ryo of Sora Kara more, roles that deviate from the kind that are very easy for him to portray.

I really LOVE all Kimutaku's Doramas! Even all of the role was same, but it's GREAT to see him! First time i saw him, when he playin' in the Ordinary People. But I starting eager to see him when he play as Senna in Long Vacation. And also be Levi's Strauss model! Uuggh... so Kakkoiii!!!

ashley, i totally agree with you. he's really great in Sleeping Forest and Sora Kara.... but i heard, Sora Kara was not well received in japan when it was aired, not sure about Sleeping Forest though. Maybe that's the reason why he isnt taking such kind roles anymore. anyhow i wish he will portray roles that will challenge his great acting ability. i think roles that portay him as not so good guy but one will eventually love him because the character will show a surprising redeeming character in the end. :

You know at first I felt the same way as the title of this thread. But then I got to watch a few of Kumura's dramas and I got to like him. Now I think he's sort of cool.
We each have our own opinions, taste, views or whatever you want to call it, of how someone looks. It's nothing wrong if some of us don't like what others like.
LOL! I started this topic 3 years ago and it's still going (only got 2 replies or so at first from what I remember and it went down the board, but it seems ppl have bumped it up and replied later on (spread over 3 years lol)).
Anyway, after three years, I have to revise my opinion. He has got true charisma in his looks and over the years I have grown to understand why his looks are mentioned as special. It's a combination of all that makes him cool, he seems calm and collected and can do these cold stares which I guess the girls fall for. Very special looks.

I'm sort of having a crash course on Takuya Kimura. So hard when you are trying to learn about 15 years of Kimura history. Watched 8 of his series in 25 days. My top favorite so far is Long Vacation and it leads by a hair over Love Generation. Closely on the heels of Love Generation is Beautiful Life and One Million Stars.

He's slightly shorter than Katori shingo and I also saw him standing next to David Beckham and he is also slightly shorter than Beckham.
I'm being objective here and not taking side on Kimura even though I'm his fan.
