i'm going to buy a Ceramic White PSP in Japan, today, it seems (0:44am right now^^*).

I wonder how i can ask if i could check the PSP for dead pixels before i buy it, or request one with no dead-pixels.

I'm not familiar with the policy of PSP dead-pixels in Japan, but as i wouldn't expect many ppl to have this request when buying, maybe it will be accepted when i try to^__^

(btw, dead-pixels are when the dots on the screen, are either fixed to a permanent colour (Red, Green or Blue) or just 'dead' and not lit, white or black, it's an issue inherent in all LCD devices, and is accepted as a standard for those that may have them.. but since i know about it, i'd rather not^0^)

(Winning Eleven 9: UE is great, i tried it in the shop, shame about the loading times>__<)

This doesn't relate to "Japanese language questions" in any bit. Moderators, please move this to a new/other thread? Anyway I suggest you just ask if it's okay to see the PSP running before you buy it, and if they won't allow it, then just visit another shop. I'm sure they will help you since usually japanese shops have good customer service.

Hi, this is from the manga Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai. Anyway, Ii'll give you some background on the scene, this guy is working as a Santa Clause when one of his fellow classmates sees him. She asks what he's doing there dressed that way and he answers:

It's not a literal translation, but this is what he's saying:

"What are YOU doing here? I though you were some cabaret girl or something. I do this door man (lit. "call into," referring to the act of trying to get customers into the establishment) thing all the time."

Japanese don't really "sign" as we do in the west here. This practice is mostly limited to "geinojin" (actors/actresses/singers etc).
Japanese usually use the stamp in place of a bonafide signature. So that scribble is Ueta Aya's unique scribble dubbed as her signature, or autograph, rather.




-My sig and initials doesn't even come close to looking like my name.

Yes.
It's very hard to see if you don't know kanji very well, but it is these three kanji:

The two little lines on the bottom I assume are just to be fancy.

The problem is, signature (like calligraphy Japanese) is a little difficult to decipher. I knew what her kanji was and I couldn't make heads or tails of her sig. After Kokuou explained it, I somewhat can see it.

Basically, it says:

Hard to tell without more context, but that's the gist of it.

I've been watching Densha Otoko (my first japanese drama) and they seem to use the word/phrase "mo-e" (sometimes with more 'e') alot.
Does anyone know what this means?
