Its sad that the boys smoke... ...it'll jack up thier voices...(look at Frank Sinatra but I am not suprised that they do. You'd think Aiba wouldn't considering his Collaped Lung 2 years ago ( actually I think its called penu-somsuch) But still.
I am really wanting to see some Sho dramas. What do you recommend and where can I get them (torrents are bad for my mac... )

Yeah, I believe all the boys smoke too. Japan has one of the highest rates of smokers in the world...impossible that they don't smoke. And impossible to expect the Japanese government to take initiative to promote anti-smoking behaviour considering that it owns half of the tobacco industry.
I don't really understand. How does Japan have soo many old people? Like isn't their life expectancy like second highest in the world or something? And shouldn't the government care since it damages the citizens? Oh well. I guess Europe is kinda like that too. Everybody smokes everywhere. Hard to avoid unless you're sitting in your room. Bleh

Arashi smoking>> i guess as what most ppl have said...it seems like everyone smokes in japan. also, no doubt they must have lots of stress because of their jam packed schedules especially if they are doing concert tours.
Live or not live?>> i think they do sing live in their concerts cuz i do hear the occasional "off tune". i personally think ohno has very good live singing out of all of them...then probably jun or sho. but then again, this is what i think hehe..(coming from an oh-chan fangirl!)
dramas/movies, etc>> um..i guess what some said earlier is right. they each probably have their own preferences and strengths. jun is really good in acting hence many roles in either dramas or movies. sho will be in honey & clover (dl the anime, still have to watch it!) i haven't seen stand up yet (or any other nino dramas) so i don't know how nino's acting is but i get a sense from ppl's comments that he is also a good actor. as for aiba, he's got his variety shows and i did see him in mukodono..it was good. and oh-chan, hmm...haha..i think he can really act cuz i find he's just so good at making expressions on his face. i guess he loves doing stage plays more..but i do hope to see him in dramas in the future. i also think he will be able to pull off comedic roles w/ no problems..haha.
*question, can someone explain to me what "Engimono" is? is it available for dl?? i remember reading something about Oh-chan in engimono. (yes, yes, i'm a hardcore Oh-chan fan )
thanks!

japan is the first in life expectancy for both male and female i think.
not too sure for male, but female definetly.
i think it has nothing to do with smoking, its probably the food (compared to US) and the medical technology.
and a lot of ppl smoking in japan ?
ugh, i dunt think so, since the price of cigarettes are zooming up, and there are a lot of new laws of restricting smoking at public places.
i think its about the same with everywhere else........well, i've never been to the staes, so i dunt know how crazy the health issue there (they should probably stop eating mc donalds before stop smokingg....lol) but compare to CHINA AND LONDON lol omg, so many people smoke in china....like chinese ppl.
but younger ppl smoke more in general....i think
and someone mentioned they can hear arashi smoking in the secret talk ?! which part ? i wanna check lol
anyhow.....im just dissapointed that arashi smokes....especially ohno because he's the lead singer, and it just seems like he lacks the professionality to take care of his voice....
oh well, im not really into their songs to being with so...lol
doesnt matter
engimono:
its a mini drama series with 4 episodes, broadcasted in 4 consequtive weeks, and normally there is an extra week for the making and interview. its 30 min long for each episode. its a quite uniqe program because they use scripts written for stage play, and they turn it into a tv drama which is something completly different. thats why the storyline tends to be different from 3 months drama series
one thing that ppl dunt normally mention that its not a golden time (from 7PM-10PM) program. it differs in regions within japan, but its normally broadcasted around 1:30AM (mid night)
so ppl will say "oh~ but XX was in engimono so ppl should recognize him as an actor", but it doesnt quite work that way, because if its onaired at midnite, no one's gonna watch it besides fans.......
oh yeah, and so is G no Arashi, my god, that program is broadcasted around 2:10 AM (mid nite) where i used to live, and i never saw it live. i just record it on video tape lol
ShanghaiGal - ah~ I wish I could follow Game Nikki, but unfortunately for those of us overseas there isn't even the option to subscribe to J-web. *sob*
But, boy are they cute! I don't believe the OmiyaSK stuff was on any of the previous concert dvds, at least not the Iza Now one, but agh. Here's to hoping they'll put it on the upcoming One dvd?

Yeah, Japan is either first or second in the world in terms of life expectancy rate (I need to pay better attention during lectures). Like Junko says, the government is making many new laws restricting smoking but laws mean nothing unless they're enforced and from what the research says, this isn't done very well. One thing that's always gotten to me is how do you regulate the sale of cigarettes when they're freely available from vending machines? I really can't say much about how prevalent smoking really is in Japan since I've never been (there's only so much that research and statistics can tell you).
Also like Junko said, the increased life expectancy is mostly attributable to other facets of the Japanese lifestyle. Their population isn't half obese like the States and Canada because the diet is so lean. And the impression I got was also that kids are generally much more active in sports and activities at school. I mean, it's gotten so bad in where I live that kids get like 45 mins of gym class twice a week!
Anyway, I'll just end my health lesson here and let's get on with discussing the boys!
EDIT: By the way, is the secret talk on the regular CD or the limite edition?
