yup, there were a whole LOT of people in front of the booth as well. i was just volunteering and I was mostly outside as security. The cosplayers made it harder... how the heck do you find anything under all those folds of cloth?!? At least, we kept the theft down to a minimum... it sure doesn't help whenever 'Rikku' walks by, damn that girl played that part soooo well! (dunno who she was though )
took 4.5 hours to register the first day, they need a more efficient and better system of handling it all, it was poor they way they did things, just as in previous years.
but it was the Anime Expo, and who can miss out on it?
so i suppose this is the thread we can post our cosplay pix(of other people that i took pix of).

Hmmm, if anyone here ever gets a chance to attend the AnimeExpo over at the Anaheim Convention Center here in Southern Cali (NEXT to Disneyland), head over to the Orbit/AAA booth. If you're lucky, someone who's probably just as cute is manning the booth. There's two, one usually dresses up as Yuna, and the tall, hella purtee one cosplays as the chic (grrr, forgot the character's name) who's supposed to be an android found by our protagonist in a dumpster, etc, etc...

hahaha i really think that caucasians look funny in these costumes! dont really suit them. looks better on asians ...sorry
that's ironic..and i'm not necessarily disagreeing with you..because when you look at these anime characters...many of them DO NOT have japanese facial features per se.

i always thought that too! thats partly why i hated the hana yori dango anime- they looked so non-asian and so the japanese voices didnt suit them (i dunno why, i mean i watch a lot of anime and i LOVE theway japanese sounds, and it suits THEM... just not HYD... cant really explain it )... but the worst was when i was watching the english version of HYD... i wanted to jump out the window, i hate english voice actors and their ridiculously exaggerated inflections.. it gets to the point where even if the story wasnt believable before, its made to SOUND completely fake through the exaggerated tones of the voices..
ok im rambling now and i dont even know what the point was. gomen ne, that was totally OT. i guess my point was that yea most anime characters dont look asian which is weird... some do i guess, maybe? maybe like rukia? or is it just the dark hair that makes me say that _________________

your critique is valid and i agree with it in many ways...i also share your distate for english dubbed anime...i usually find it repulsive and it almost nevers captures the idiosyncratic nature of the spoken japanese language.
many ppl might not know this but the wide eyed ANIME style of drawing is actually inspired from early Disney animation, namely Mickey Mouse et al.
as for the HYD anime which i've never seen...you're just bent because they don't look as sexy as that one fobbilicious taiwanese actor who played one of the F4 members....that dope ass argyle sweater and rice bowl hair cut parted down the middle drives all you college gals, wild, huh, tensai ohimesama?

hahha i agree with u, i thought it was weired when i watch HYD, the anime characters drawn were too 'western' hehhe, i prefer the common japanese anime characters.
actually japanese charcters drawn do look like japanese! or should i say asian looking.
what about final fantasy (forget the 'spirts within' one, that was boring) , all girls there looked really japanese and the guys were sexy too. they dont look non-asians to me!

yes, it seriously sounds SO bad when it gets translated over to english... so weird. i think its mostly the way its spoken, its just sooo... ugh. WRONG. lol. honestly tho, movies are always better in their original language... so its the same with anime and dramas, i say =P
wow, yea well im not surprised.. about it being inspired by mickey mouse... so i guess that makes sense. but the HYD anime looks like the HYD manga for the most part, at least the little ive seen.. then again im not a huge fan of the drawing style of teh HYD manga...
omg you're so right. no wonder! it's because they dont wear bright orange gas station uniforms in the anime, nor do they have their hair pulled up into ridiculous pineapple wannabe style haircuts with tacky green headbands... but whats best in mg is the permanent scowl on his face as his face twitches uncontrollably because that is the only way he could portray dom's short temper... yes... well! its no wonder i didnt like the anime after comparing it to THAT spectacular perf...... _________________
