lol. 4 of zidane's headbutt videos become the most watched videos today in youtube (including 1 edited). altogether, they were 8 zidane's headbutt videos on the first page today's most watched video.

one zidane's penalty goal, one about c. ronaldo's dive, nothing about italy winning the world cup on the first page.

dood, all i gotta say from appearances....when i watched during the matches and what i saw on drew carey's month long world cup documentary on the travel channel...it seems germany did an exceptional job hosting the world cup especially with all the "fan miles" and other public exhibition areas with super huge screens showing the games...i so wish i could have gone! Wah, that is goin too far, poor Ronaldo. He's still young, his pontential has not reached it's peak yet.
And it is sad that the last game was focused on the headbutt, what about the terrific game that France played? And that amazing header by Zidane?

I hope this Wcup wont just be remembered for it's yellow and red cards, and the divings.....

i agree with your wishes...but there were too many dives and other antics...

i saw the cup in 94, 98, and '02 and i sincerely don't remember so much fervor over fouls or dives...it beckons to FIFA and the masses that something must be done to recitify the situation

cuz his ass is old and he ain't gonna win any world cups.....nah just joking he's only 29 Bleah i think many ppl were surprised

he announced his retirement after thinking about it for several months he said...he decided to retire a while back after the world cup....but he said it wasin't due to one particular reason...i think he wants to move on from soccer.

Japan legend Nakata retires at 29

Nakata enjoyed an illustrious career in the Italian league
Japan midfielder Hidetoshi Nakata has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 29.
Nakata, who spent last season on loan at Bolton, played his last game at the World Cup as Japan bowed out at the group stage after losing 4-1 to Brazil.

"I decided half a year ago that I would retire after the World Cup in Germany," Nakata told his official website.

"I will never again stand on the pitch as a professional player. But I won't stop playing the game."

Nakata joined Bolton in August and scored one goal in 21 league appearances.

Bolton boss Sam Allardyce paid tribute to Nakata but said he was not shocked at the midfielder's decision to retire at such a young age.

He will be remembered as the catalyst of Asian and Japanese football

Sam Allardyce

"The news isn't a surprise as far as I am concerned," he said. "Hide has had the time to think about his future and has decided the best outcome is to hang up his boots.

"He's had a glittering career and has achieved plenty in the domestic game.

"He will be remembered as the catalyst of Asian and Japanese football, and also the first Japanese export to European football.

"It was a privilege to work with him last season, and I'd like to wish him well.

"He will always be welcome as a guest at this football club in the future."

Nakata spent seven years in Italy's Serie A, where he played with Roma, Parma, Bologna and Fiorentina.

In 2005 he was honoured with one of Italy's highest awards - Knight of the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity - for helping to promote Italy's image overseas

Truly saddening. We really deserved to win, we dominated the Italians and we played way much better than them. But I have to say (and the French side on me is NOT talking this time) that Italians are the saddest bag of sh*t in the soccer world.

Materazzi got me in a foul mood because this is not the first time he's badmouthing someone, nor doing illegal moves or kicking someone with the excuse of playing the ball (see what he did with Shevchenko). This guy killed the game and if we didn't make Vieira, Henry & Zidane out, I'm sure we would have won. Seriously, they didn't stand a chance in the PK's. But I agree Zidane's headbutt was not so correct. But hey, that pr*** of Materazzi should play football and not insult some other players. By the way, it's not really a surprise when you know that Italians are way so racist.

But it's done, they won in the lesser spectacular way a undeserved World Cup.

Tu_triky >> C. Ronaldo has seriously messed up with his so-called "skills" with his diving. Seriously this guy is all joke and showy, he can't even pass correctly, see the match with Germany.

Tenshi01 >> Too bad we didn't won. XD
And yeah, Italians are the rank bodies in the soccer world.

To the football french team : Merci les Bleus!

You've taken us so far in the WC2006 and we didn't even dream of that. In our hearts, you are the winners! FRANCE FTW!

he is a bitch who cries more than a baby seal...the whole team from Scolari down to all the players attempted to use diving as a core strategy to winning....their pathetic performance in the second round demonstrates their deficiency in the game.

i was truly saddened to see the French eliminated by such bizarre, unexpected circumstances....i agree for the majority of the match they played much better than the Azzuri but Zidane's red card changed the dynamic of the game.

C. Ronaldo knows his ass will be raped if he stays at Man. U. that's why he wants to be transferred to Real Madrid before he becomes pregnant.

Madrid confirm Cannavaro interest

Real Madrid claim they are close to capturing Italy's World Cup-winning captain Fabio Cannavaro from Juventus.

SUMMER TRANSFERS

The Spanish giants are looking to rebuild after three years without a trophy and, having last week appointed former Juve boss Fabio Capello as their new coach, are now hoping to raid the Italian champions for the 32-year-old Cannavaro.

Pedja Mijatovic, Real's new sports director, told the club's website: "We've made good headway in getting him here and we're going to continue trying hard. I'm sure there will be some news in the next few days.

"I can appreciate that Cannavaro was a huge reason why Juve won two Scudetti and why Italy won the World Cup."

Juventus, who on Monday appointed former Chelsea midfielder Didier Deschamps as their new coach, are currently embroiled in a match-fixing trial with the prosecution recommending they be relegated to Serie C.

Materazzi would never have faced up directly to Zidane - his MO is to kick, trip, hit and elbow from behind, so you can't see it coming. A man confronts his agressor, a coward hits him from behind. And if Materazzi had given Zidane the header it would be no surprise at all because we know the character of Materazzi. Zidane reacted - great players are human. But Materazzi is neither a great player, nor human. He's an animal who should be banned.

See how many players he agressed with his foul play :

You cant seriously say that Italy didnt deserve the win. The team is full of talented players (Materazzi is one too, even though he often plays TOO roughly Sweat ). France wasnt good enough, and they only goaled with Zidanes PK in the actual time. Materazzi made a goal, a NON-PK one that is. Ah well, too bad one France player messed up the PK, otherwise they could have won.
