I have a Chinese name, and the character is: or "zhen"
My question is: In Japanese I know this translates to "Jin".... but what is the gender of that name? I'm a girl btw ^^
Jin doesn't really sound like a girl's name, I've only heard it used for guys.
Is there another pronunciation for this kanji? any help is appreciated!!! |
I never heard pronouncing as 'Jin'.
Usually, is pronounced 'Chin' in Japan.
And I don't think Chin has a gender.
Chin sounds more like a family name for Chinese person.

katakana: V[i
roma-ji: Shiina
If you want to use kanji for Sheena, or ō or œ will be nice I think.

Rikke=bP
The double consonant sound is indicated by the small 'tsu'.

Do you ask how to write your last name in Japanese?
Collins is RY.
For example, "Phil Collins" is "tBERY" in Japanese.

Well, You could spell it: V (new) (house)
I like the pronunciation "Shin'ya", which is a real Japanese family name.
But these Kanji have many other pronunciations, particularly the following family names:
Araie
Araya
Shin'ie
Shinka
Shinke
Niiie
Niika
Niike
Niinomi
Niiya

If someone can post how to write Rina in Japanese, it would be greatly appreciated. |
Rina is a very popular Japanese girls name. My name dictionary has about 90 different spellings for "Rina" ().
The famous actress Uchiyama Rina spells her name:

That's where I got my name dictionary (Breen), but I didn't see a direct link on that page. His dictionaries are awesomely useful. I think his name dictionary is accessible via the drop down menu at the top of this page too (JDict-Names), but I have found it most convenient just to pull the entire dictionary into my editor and use regexp searches.
