meteor garden got me hooked last time..
still havent watch the sequel altho i have bought the set for a long time

yeah, i watched several taiwan drama such as meteor garden 1 & 2 (the second one isn't as good as the first), at the dolphin bay, poor price, my mvpvalentine, and the new show in Indonesia tv is love storm. That's all

Japan dorama isn't show in Indonesia tv recently, i guess the tv station in Indonesia hard to get the licency show maybe due to the political issue. We're here in Indonesia miss a japan dorama alot, and the jdorama fans in Indonesia as much as other country.

hmm.. i tot MG was good. but i din watch the sequel.
not into TW dramas at all.
the only ones i've watched from beginning till end are MG and Huan Zhu Ge Ge.

hell yeah man the sequel is a total snore fest! they just drag it on cuz of the F4 guys.. awful awful sequel..no offence MG2 fans

The only Taiwan drama I watched was Meteor Garden and I really liked it...I'm a big Hana Yori Dango fan and they did pretty good job...I also really enjoyed Meteor Rain since it talked about the other 2 F4 guys too. Meteor Garden II is okay but kind of boring so far.

local station here stopped telecasting love storm coz televiewers didnt like the loveteam of karen mok and jerry yan.. and the story of lovestorm for me is not so good so i stop watching it after the 3rd episode, i heard that karen mok dated jerry yan is that true?
they didnt look good together, sorry for karen and jerry fans, if there is any

this is the summary of at the dolphin bay:) this is a nice story, very light and not boring for me...

The Story:
The background/beginnings of the story is the Catholic orphanage where 20 years ago, Ambrose's character Xu Ce Ya and Angela's character Tian Pian first see each other as orphaned kids. Xu Ce Ya was then known as "tah-tah", while Tian Pian is "siao pin kang". Tah-tah always saw siao pin kang being teased by the other kids in the orphanage, so he came to her companionship and swore that they will not separate themselves from each other, ever.
When the grandpa of Xu Ce ya came to pick up the boy, Siao pin kang and her dolphin doll were the ones that reminded the boy about her. When he left, Siao pin-kang became Tian Pian as she was picked up by another woman who owned the noodle shop "by the Dolphin Bay". Tian Pian would spend most of her time at an old ship by the Bay with figures of dolphins all around. She would dream of becoming a big star like Mandy Shen Man Qing(Jill Xu Jie Er).
20 years later, Xu Ce Ya became the the general manager of SET company, which his Grandpa is the Chairman. Xu Ce Ya and Tian Pian crossed paths again after 20 years, when Tian Pian auditioned for a singing role at SET for a drama starring her idol Mandy, and won the part, but not after going through several obstables.
Since then, the twists and turns of the story revolved on Xu Ce Ya, his Grandpa, his stepsister Shan Ni (Penny Lin Wei Xin), Mandy,and her boyfriend music producer Xiao Kang (Wallace Huo), who eventually trained Tian-Pian and became close to her.The most exciting part is the complicated love story between Tian Pian, Shan Ni, Xiao Kang, Xu Ce Ya and Mandy.
The dolphin doll that Tian Pian dropped and picked up by Xu Ce Ya 20 years ago, became the key that constantly bothered him, because 20 years ago he as Tah-tah had made a pledge to then Siao Pin-Kang that he will not leave her.

i agree that mg 2 was not good at all! i think the reason behind this is coz meteor garden 1 is from the hana yori dango manga volume 1-24 (or something like that). and for mg 2, they used only like the next 9 volumes of hana yori dango !!!

Does anyone think that none of those actors in "idol drama" can act? I mean compared to J-Dorama, I think the quality of the cast is soooo bad! I was somewhat interested in Meteor Garden and watched a couple of the episodes but stopped because I couldn't bear watching them. They always look like they are trying too hard to act...is it just me? Anyways, J-Doramas definitely rule!

I have only seen MG. I did enjoy that drama. I have yet to see the second one. I've been hearing mixed things so I'm debating about it. I have it on Streamload and they charge~

I just got into Marmalade Boy and I'm enjoying this series. It's very funny. Anyone out there know how many eps. there are? I know they have only subbed 11.

Oh and another one I found was Peach Girl. The subbing group has only released one ep. I wish they would release more though.

Hmmm... all based off manags... is this the thing in Taiwan?

But all 3 are very enjoyable. I just want more of Peach Girl and Marmalade Boy~

i admit it i watched meteor garden 1 not because of F4 but of course out of curiosity and rainie yang (Xiao Xu).

but that's the last tdrama or kdrama i'ved watched.

i find it corny when they dubbed it in tagalog (native lang.) it looses the expressions of the actors.

i think jdorama has a good storyline from the rest.

I watched a part of Meteor Garden. I couldn't stand it. The way the kids talk is just plain spooky. I mean, they talk just like in old HK dubbed movies. It's crazy...

The acting was also horrible in Meteor Garden. Taiwan has always been known to have some sub-par serials, as compared to HK. In fact, mainland dramas were also sub-par compared to HK dramas until they started pumping in wads of cash and actually got decent stage actors and HK actors to play the key roles. HK kinda lost out in the budget/scenery department (in terms of period dramas). A lot of period dramas nowadays are co-productions between HK/Taiwan/Mainland. Unfortunately for the romantic drama market, Taiwan is still working alone.

As for Idol Acting, some J-dramas have really bad acting as well. I guess in particular I caught Meteor Garden at the wrong time, as it is the debut of all those actors (who couldn't act worth squat).

I watched some of MG and stopped cause i really can't stand the actors anymore. No offense, but i think they all sucked in acting, especially Zai Zai.. his smile was SOOOOO fake.. whenever i see him smile, i feel like smacking him. grr... his smile is like, eyes narrowing and then spread ur lips.. yuck yuck yuck.. his cheeks didn't even budge.

Anyways, i watched MG1, Marmalade Boy, Peach Girl, Pearl Princess 1 & 2, Mount Duke 2003, Fong Sai Yuk, Romance in the rain, Feng Yun ( Wind Storm), and My Cousin Ji Xiang. Excluding MG1 from above, i watched almost the whole of those series.

I personally think Peach Girl is far more better than Marmalade Boy. Although i really love the plot in Marmalade Boy better than Peach Girl, i really can't stand the way they acted. Heck, when the tv station broadcasted it, i can't even hear clearly what they were saying all through the eps..

After watching a few series of idol dramas.. i think i'll just stick to the matured ones of Twdramas instead, like romance in the rain and pearl princess. To admit, i bought the whole ramance in the rain series just to see Ruby Lin and Alec Su after watching them in Pearl Princess. it's the best series so far, (i meant pearl princess 1 & 2 ONLY). My Cousin Ji Xiang is not bad as well. Vicky Zhao is ok as well. I only didn't like her in Romance in the rain series.. she was too into the role that i hate her character, too hatred, hard headed, stubborn, always thinks she's the victim and she thinks she's the only one justice in the whole wide world, grr...

Anyways, lately, i saw in the newspapers about a new tw idol drama coming out. "Yuan wei de xia tian" or something like that. i first thought it was summer scent, but i found out that Summer Scent was a kdrama instead.. I read some of the summaries and it's about a guy who just graduated from high school and refused to continue his studies so that he can go and "protect" his island with his granpa. There's a girl who likes him (acted by Xiao Xu, the 4 in Love member who acted in MG1) but kept quiet when she found out that he likes another. I kinda wanted to watch this series because of her. In the series, she has a Brother. (OD, if you guys watched MG and Peach Girl, i bet you know who it is.) and i wanna see him too. Also, the lead actor is Qiu Zhe (the guy from Xue Di li de xing xing, maybe translated as [The star in the snow]? hehe.. i dunno what the actual title it's in english. ) DId anyone watched it yet? you might want to try d/l some epis of "Original Scent of Summer" (the idol drama starring Rainie and Roy) through bt online (they're in rm/rmvb format) to see if you like it or not

have you tried Rainie's previous drama--the 1 she did before "Original Scent of Summer" called "Godfather in Pink"/"Pink Godfather Xiao Tian Tian"? I've seen it 2x's already =)

right now I'm saving money to get Westside Story

so what exactly was the last idol drama you watched? I think, the idol dramas put out towards the end of 2002 and those in 2003 are actually much better than those when idol dramas just began to take off

i loved the rose alot!

i'm totally not into twdorama. i've only watch meteor garden because it was based on the anime hana yori dango. but meteor garden2 is dumb!!!

Sorry, but what are you talking about? Zhao Wei and Ruby Lin can't act as well....maybe a little bit better than the rest of the idol drama group, but they still can't act Their facial expressions are so insincere and fake
