a lil more news about the new single...

http://www.universal-music.co.jp/tokio/

"Run Free"/"Hikari no machi"

both are theme songs for something. Run Free being a song for Figure skating coverage on fuji tv and hikari no machi being a song for a fuji tv anime

Hikari no Machi is the theme song for "Skull Man". Why am I sad to hear that? Beaten

And the regular edition will have extra song and the title is Sweet Sick Honey.

I really wish johnnys groups didn't release so many different versions of each single and album... i mean on one hand it's nice because there's usually different stuff on each version. But on the other hand, it's expensive... Bang Head

Yes! thats what i thought. WE need to get the three different versions in order to get the different things they put in each version. I wonder how will the PVs look like since "Run Free" is a medium ballad song. As far as I remember, Mabo never directed a medium ballad song, rite? Green is a ballad song but not directed by him.

yeah he didn't direct Green. "Ding Dong" is sort of a medium ballad...? I guess it's more upbeat than a medium ballad but he directed that one and it was a cute video. Other than that... *thinking* well there's love love manhattan, but that's also a weird song lol Sweat i hope he directs and if he does, i'm sure he'll do a good job. I love his vids Dancing

Oh yes Ding Dong is kind of medium ballad. Cute PV though. and the making is funny too.

The only thing that makes me happy about Run Free is each member has their own part in the song. Not that I'm not happy it is a theme for the figure skating championship but I dont know how am I supposed to react when i first time heard about the figure skating thingy. No wonder Taichi will be the commentator for it and other members will come as guest on their respective days.

yeah... i'm not sure about the figure skating thing either... Sweat but taichi would be good as commentator. and yes i love it when they all have their own parts in the songs. I was reading some articles on sponichi because they have johnnys news section and one of the articles from a couple years ago was about a tokio concert where all of the sudden they surprised matsuoka by all of the sudden playing "purple rouge" which is like one of his few solo songs lol and apparently nagase was playing the drums while they made matsuoka sing. I would have loved to see that. ...even though the way matsuoka sings sometimes bugs me Sweat ah well, love them anyways

So "Run Free" will be released on March 28, right? Wonder why the announcement came a little bit late...Has any of you heard a preview of that song?

I LOVE MATSUOKA SINGING! and his dance. Did you watch the 5 Ahead Tour 2002 Live in Budokan? He sang Midnight Rose and danced and he looks hot.

The one that you mentioned where he sang Purple Rouge and Nagase played drum for him, I think it was on Glider 2003 Tour. Or is it ACT II? No DVD for the con though so we couldnt watch it. Grumble

Talking about concert, it is very unusual for TOKIO to not to held concert at this time of year. I mean, they did concert every year with Sakura blooming outside the Budokan arena but not this year. I guess they must be very very busy with the new single. Hopefully they'll have concert this year too.

yep i have the 5 ahead tour XD

I wish there was a dvd for a concert tour(because i'm guessing they toured for that album...) for ACT II because that is one of my fave albums! Shameful Cry not to mention "jibun no tame ni" is one of my fave songs and i've never seen it live Bang Head

I hope they have a concert and I hope they have one when i'm in japan. I would love to see smap and tokio when I'm in japan this year. I've been wanting to see those 2 groups in concerts for years Puppy Dog Eyes

i think out of all the tour dvds i've seen, the 2004 tour is my favorite. the 5ahead tour is good too. lol the 1999 concert dvd is okay too, i like their dancing bit in it because i always forget how athletic they are! especially matsuoka and yamaguchi and their flipping... even though they're all very athletic.

now that i think about it, the "TOK10" album is one of my favorite albums too because they all sing on that album alot since they didn't play their instruments on that album(which i was sort of disappointed in because for a second i thought matusoka was actually double kicking on the bass drum for "daybreak"). i wish i could find my tokio remix cd... i know i have it somewhere but i haven't heard it for YEARS now sadly. i'll find it sometime soon. i found a whole bunch of my old myojo/winkup magazines and tons of pics of tokio too... and the evolution of matsuoka's hair lol.

nope no preview yet sadly... i'll be looking out for various music shows to see if they'll perform sometime soon which i'm guessing they will.

speaking of various versions of their singles and albums, i was watching footage of a photoshoot for one of their album covers... i think it was for 5ahead. I have the normal version and when they started taking pics of them in the water and then with dirt(....) i was like hey, some of those pics turned out pretty cool. *flips through cd booklet* and then i realized they were for different covers Bang Head i know that v6 does similar things too. now if it's just pictures i can live without getting various versions. it's when there's like B side songs and DVDs with different footage that are all different that kills me.

btw if anyone is able to get it, 5ROUNDIII is awesome. they actually have an optional tokio commentary track on each video. it's fun hearing what they all have to say for each video and it's fun to see the making of featurettes for the vids. the "Love you only 10th anniversary version" video is pretty impressive. not my favorite video, but i'm impressed that they managed to tape the whole video in one shot

I agree with you TOKIO 10th anniversary 2004 concert is the best! The ending really makes me want to cry when all the audiences sang LOVE YOU ONLY and asked for another encore..Taichi cried too!!

i dont know when will I get a chance to see TOKIO Live. I guess thats never happen for the time being since I have no time to my schedule is really packed for the whole year.

5 ROUND III is awesome! Oh, do you know there's hidden track in that dvd? It shows the 2004 special Gigs.

LOL. i just copy and paste the instruction from Lj.

Go to the "Special Round" menu on disc one. Play the clips in this order: 5 ROUND II TOK10 TOKIO 10th anniversary LIVE 2004 l̗Ƒ䏊 Mr. Travelling Man. When you get back to the Special Round menu, it should be easy to get to from there.

Good luck!!

And one more thing..TOKIO special GIGs 2006 also has hidden track. Yeah
