I've been a fan of Kanno Miho since Iguana, but Ai no Uta showed her comedic side...particularly her interaction with Wakui Emi...just wonderful

I watched Heavenly Forest (Tada, Kimi wo Aishiteru) this week-end. I like the story line. The kissing scene by the pond/river was so romantic. And the self portrait was great.

Currently watching Tokyo Tower 2007 ep. 5. I like this family drama, mother and son relationship.

finished Shinsengumi season 3, episode 37

after episode 30, i definitely think Katori Shingo's acting for the Kondo Isami character is p-e-r-f-e-c-t !!! simply irreplaceable.

it's reached the bloody parts. very very intense with all these internal and externa problems. no more happy moments. don't see smiles often. the bitter reality. what i love most about this dorama, everyone has a chance to die, either the good guys or the bad guys. episode 28 was so thrilling! and episode 34 was sooo hillarious, the 'concubine' episode, you really can't fool your wife can you? rofl

this is the best dorama i've seen so far Thumbsup

i'm still shocked with what Geezer-san rated this dorama Sweat , the number of fingers in one hand...

Well, everybody has different tastes, different likes/dislikes. I wouldn't take it personally. Like Geezer says in his signature, "If you've got a favorite, you haven't watched enough" The first drama I ever saw was Hotman and I thought this is so great! But as time went on, I've seen a lot of dramas that are better. Now my basic rule of thumb for rating a drama is: "How does this stack up vs. Long Vacation ? Of course with Taiga Dramas and Asa doras you can't use the same rule because they're totally different. Anyway, the most important thing is, as long as you're enjoying it, that's all that really matters, ne? Thumbsup

I have been Kanno Miho's fan since I saw her in Churasan where she was execeptionaly funny and was a big part of the reason this was the all time most popular asadora.

Good lord, I've been quoted! Thank Santa it wasn't one of the more idiotic things I've said.

Monta-kun,

Why shocked? I just didn't like Shinsengumi. In fact, I thought it was the second worst Taiga I've seen to date.

You're enjoying the heck out of it.

To my way of thinking, you come out better on the deal.

Well yeah, everybody has different taste. it's the second tome i'd like to give a dorama an 11/10 if i can and someone actually gave it a 5...

so i'm just surprised that someone actually doesn't like it that much Big Grin

or, there something with my taste hehe . nah, people just have different taste.

i'm hitting the 4th season after i finish Yomigaeru Kinro, again with Katori Shingo, it looks pretty interesting. But crap, it's got Malaysian text hehe , it's been a while since i used Malay subs

Make that two.

I just found it to be a showcase for pretty boys and a grab for fangirl ratings... Very pretentious. Shake Head

well, i tought so too at first, but the story and the acting is really something when i reached season 3. Big Grin

episode 1 of Yomigaeru Kinrou. i already have a feeling i'm gonna love it. the theme is concidered... rare? for a dorama that is.

I think the big difference is the age of the viewer. I noticed you rated the Crying Out Love movie highly and dissed the drama. My interpretation was exactly the opposite. The movie sucked the drama was the greatest ever. I suspect at your age you are more impressed with Saku riding around on a moped which for me destroyed the idyllic setting of the drama while Saku's bicycle in the drama added to the idyllic setting.
As we mature (ahem) we like our dramas to last long.... in my youth I too would not have had the patience to watch Crying for 11 hours whereas now it could go on forever.

Ralph

Nope, that was me. I was the one who much prefered "Crying out..." the movie. And I'm a whole lot older than young Monta.

Then again, you an I agree whole heartedly on Ryoko and Miho.

After being introduced to Ryoko in "Churasan" I jump at the chance to see her in anything else.

And as for Miho Kano... I was already a fan before Churasan. But she jumped up to a whole new level when she created the adorable demi-sour, dead pan, depressed, gothic, (but with a heart of gold) writer of fluffy children's fairy tales in "Churasan".

And "Ai no Uta". Maaaan! I enjoyed that show.

But get ready for this...

Quick note on Taiga's:

Yup, "Yoshitsune" was the worst I've ever seen. It was poorly written, cheaply produced, and the acting was... well, enough said about the acting in "Yoshitsune."

"Shinsengumi" comes next, and I'm a little surprized that I gave it a rating of 5. I must have been in a very generous mood that day.

Mostly I disliked the whole revisionist history aspect of the show. You know, the whole, 3 Musketeers, Band of Brothers, Good Guys united fighting for justice, and getting a few laughs along the way. What a load.

I've come to expect a bit more from Taigas. I don't ask for total historic accuracy. It's a drama for Santa's sake! But the portrait they tried to paint of those guys was the height of fantasy.

That said, those are the only two Taiga Dramas that I've really disliked out of the 9 or 10 that I've watched all the way through.

Anime Dad

That and the scenes where Ryoko is reading the newspaper in her apartment were the real high points of the series for me.
