My friend is looking for the title of a drama she caught while flipping channels in Hawaii a several months ago. She is pretty sure she was watching KIKU. I tried looking throught the website but couldnt find it.

This is all she remembers

1) Main character was a girl who wanted to be an opera singer but her father was against it. -- she remembers the characters talking or arguing about being in a contest in europe or leading to europe.

2) Some how the girl ended up going to another place -- near the shore where she meets a guy who has a pet dolphin (or works with a dolphin).

I thought maybe someone here might know what this is called.

also was looking for some information on the Kinpachi Series -- Did I miss it but couldn't find it in the index?

Thanks in Advance!!!

Please don't use the term "Jap," it's considered derogatory: http://www.jdorama.com/viewtopic.22.htm

sorry if this has already been said but

I've been looking for a japanese drama i think, I watched it since i was a kid back at 1997 so i am guessing it's 90s drama but i don't have the tape anymore.

I am guessing about 5 or 6 characters that are cops, who get into a van or station and change/transform themselves into wearing some sort of robotic suit and some kind of alert alert.

The main guy likes to play drums and go club if i remembered and his special move twisting his left arm around and around then punch the villian they look scary lol hehe

sorry i can't give enough information!

Hey everybody,
I'm looking for a drama that I watched while I was going to Japan on a ferry. It was on at around 2 am if that helps a little. Heres what i remember about the episode.

The main character works in a department store in the purse section. And she goes over to her co-workers house to find out the secret of why her chest is so big. After staring at her co-workers grandmother's breasts and then getting very drunk she goes into this dream sequence of where her bust is big as well. Also, the male workers in the department store head go to a host club where their boss is on stage singing kareoke. The episode ends with the main girl going to her dads place and then later saying the words. "DNA wa osorobeshi" while having a drink.

Does anybody know what this show was? Sorry if my description is off...i was drinking alot while i was watching it >.>

My guess: "Yama onna kabe onna" starring Itoh Misaki from this summer season.

Sorry this is kind of vague, but this is the first time I have really ever been into doramas...

Anyways, whats the name of the one with the people in the wild west, and they pretty much speak only in english even though its a japanese drama?

And also there was another one that looked interesting but i had no idea what it was about. There was a huge billboard near omote sando that showed some girl in a school univform with a mop, who looked pretty beat up. I also saw a commercial where she proceded to beat up other people with the mop? Im sorry but thats all i know about it!

I need help as well. The show i'm thinking is about some japanese woman who wants to send her younger brother to med school or something along those lines. It's rather recent and i recall it being pretty high as far as viewership ratings when it was airing.

Welcome to JDorama. The drama you are referring to is probably Kiken na Aneki, if the following criteria fits:

1. The brother is already a doctor (probably an intern);
2. The sister is tall and pretty (Itou Misaki) but not very bright;
3. The sister worked several jobs, including security guard and club hostess;
4. The family was a sake producer, but went bankrupt.

(sorry moderator. i had meant for this post to come under this sub-topic, not a new thread.)

I am encouraged that someone could actually trace a 1978 series here. I hope to be able to find my favourite series too.

Thanks a million if you can help:

It was a NHK drama. I think it was in the 1980s. Set between the Taisho and Showa era (between 1920s and 1940s). It is a love story between a young lady, long lost daughter of a soya sauce maker (Tsugawa Masahiko), who fell in love with a fisherman. The soya sauce makers are supposedly enemies with fishermen (can't remember the reason). Tragedy struck when the young lady finally married the fisherman. One day the fisherman fell into the sea and didn't return. The soya sauce boss decided to betroth his daughter to his faithful assistant who truthly loves the young lady. They had a son. Second world war came, the soya sauce assistant who succeeded the business was called to serve in the army. He died. Immediately after the war, the missing fisherman husband appeared out of nowhere. He had apparently lost his memory and picked up a new identity. I could not remember the ending. But i think they were reunited after all.

All i could recall is the Chinese title of the drama is called "ling (second tone) biao (first tone)" and it refers to sea beacon ( one which helps people to navigate in the sea ?)

I have tried to search Tsugawa Masahiko's profile but i think he is more famous as a director than actor......sigh.

Is this the Tsugawa Masahiko from your drama?

If so, you can check his complete TV credits here (in Japanese). The only NHK drama listed with "sea" in the title is Ima hi wa umi ni from 1975.
