I happened to watch 'Koi ni ochitara' and really liked the theme song by Crystal Kay.It may be old school but I think it's her best song so far. _________________

Who is the actress in "Koshonin"? (well, I know it's off topic but the sig was tempting).
And by the way I love Koi ni ochitara's OST. What is the title of the song you mentioned?

Some updating about current drama music:
Mop Girl ep 2 was quite fun, even though the structure was similar to taht of ep 1. The music, on the other hand, is average for only sythetic. But the "action" theme is catchy..
Abarenbo Mama ep2 was quite fun as well, and Takayuki Hattori's symphonic score really fitting. This music is definitely a must
By the way, there seems to be a new Hero CD out... If someone could share it, it would be greatly appreciated

I've pretty much watched at least 1 ep. of most of this season's dramas. IMO the most catchy theme song is Beautiful Life by W-inds from Otoko no Kosodate (score is by the same guy who did KDO). The single was just released (11/15), but there's a single's collection comming out at the end of this year which contains this theme song as well.
BTW, the 2nd Furin Kazan OST will be released on 12/05 and contains the 4 gorgeous ending themes plus other unreleased soundtracks (mainly from the later episodes). I've already placed a pre-order via yesasia.

I didn't know Otoko no kosodate, I shall have a look at ep 1, it seems interesting. And yes, the score is by the guy who composed the music for KDO and Himitsu no hanazono, so it may be good... (but it won't beat Abarenbo Mama )
Did you preorder other future jewels? Furin Kazan is quite gorgeous indeed!
By the way, may I request Top Caster OST? I just love Sato Naoki and the subbing team I work with has begun this project...

I watched a few episodes of Abarenbo Mama, and I thought Takayuki Hattori's talent is kind of wasted in this drama even though the score is quite good (I guess I just don't like the drama enough).
I failed to mention that the ending theme of SP (Way of Life by V6) is also quite good after listening to it a few times, but I don't agree w/ the choice of classical music being made during the 1st 3 episodes (Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique in ep. 1, Brahm's Piano concerto # 2 in ep. 2, and I think some Shostakovich symphonies in ep. 3 but I'm not sure). IMO they all failed to match the scenes and kind of ruined them instead for me (unlike the ones used by Takayuki Hattori in Nodame Cantabile which are all perfect). Oh, just be aware that when the ending theme starts, that's when they 'spoiled' a lot of good scences from the next episode...
I'm considering the OST for Iryu 2, but a lot of music seems to be recycled from season 1.

Well, it is not really wasted, it is just... exagerrated. The main theme is too pompous for the situations where it appears. But, anyway, I am in love with it . And such exagerrations are quite commun in J-dramas: see for instance Toshihiko Sahashi's music in Emergency Room 24 hours season 3.

Actually, IMHO, Hattori-san didn't choose any of the classical music involved in Nodame. Its only contribution in this area is the arrangement of Rhapsody in blue used in the ending credits. (And this arrangement is really good!!!!)

Well, that was one of my questions (I didn't watch season 2). If it is like Gokusen 1 & 2, the new CD is a waste of money (or bandwidth)

Hmmm...I was referring to the ones that are NOT in the manga and I thought the choices made were excellent.
I just noticed in the end credits of SP that there's a 'music by...' and then there's also 'music selection by...'. I'll have to go back and check if that's the case in NC as well.
EDIT: You may be right. Just check the end credits of NC and there's another person to do some kind of 'classical music compiling/editing', so hats off to him...
