During the drama NANA Mika Nakashima sang a song called Glamorous Sky. Girugamesh also did a cover to that song. I was wondering if anyone has any opinion on which they liked better.

As a band/artist, I like Girugämesh much better, but since Mika's version was the one sung in the movie I have to say I prefer that one.
I would probably have liked the Girugämesh version better if I hadn't seen the movie.

I've been listening to a few new albums (Aoyama Thelma, SATOMI', Kimura Kaela) and Kaela's album is really fun. I'm so into her "Jasper" song, which sounds like it's on crack. Those who like Ootsuka Ai should check her music out. ^_^

I'm probably too late, but the song is longer than just the chorus. I don't have the song on this computer, but I do have the lyrics in case you want to check it that way:

I had read from other forum that Hikki intentionally make the song stop in the chorus... it suppose to means the sudden event that occurs in our life (some fans say it like sudden death)

Speaking about NANA songs, who is the original singer for MEDICINE??? or it is original already...

Namie Amuro. Oh my goodness. I heard Concentration 20, which is quite brilliant - hard pop, I'd call it (pop with lots of nice squealing guitars).
But I am so disappointed to find albums like Sweet 19 Blues, Break The Rules and Genius 2000 are full of samey soft pop songs. Puppy Dog Eyes

*sigh*

Most of Namie's music is on the pop or R&B side. Concentration 20 is just a fluke. Bleah I know there's artists with more squealy guitar pop music, but I can't think of any. Wait, try hitomi's music. She had some guitar-based pop songs, but the only drawback is her voice (though I like it a lot).

Recommended songs:
Japanese Girl
Samurai Drive (not a fave, but people like it a lot)
Wish

Hell, just try getting her Love Life, Huma-rhythm, and Thermo Plastic albums. All excellent, imo.

personally, i thought her music was quite good, more like a japanese version of Janet Jackson, and so much better than Britney, but i shouldn't go further with that topic...

anyhow, i bought some music while in Shibuya HMV,

Utada Hikaru - Heart Station
Perfume - Complete Best
Youhna(Korean music artist who also sings in Japanese)
- Songs teen's collection

and Akihabara local artist Ayano - "Good Days"

I wish I'd known that Concentration 20 was a one-off. I learned that Tetsuya Komura had done all the music for this album, so I made a point of investigating other Namie albums he'd written music for...and was I surprised at the difference! Shocked

Thanks for recommending Hitomi (I think I'd heard of her before). So far, I think she sounds interesting. I actually don't mind her voice, but I don't think it's great.
I'll probably track down at least one of the albums you recommend at some point. Cheers Cori. Victory! Peace!

I don't think those albums of Namie's I mentioned were rubbish...just they weren't to my taste at all, being completely unlike Concentration 20.
And I think Namie's voice is excellent - much better than either Ms Jackson or Ms Spears. Big Grin

Btw, why shouldn't you "go further with that topic"?

Amusingly enough, I didn't like Namie's Concentration 20 all that much, with the exception of a handful of songs. I prefer her pop or R&B stuff.

And if you can't find any of the hitomi albums, let me know because I have all of them. Only thing is I have them all on my iPod, so they're just 128 kbps. =T I'd up them now, but both of my computers are currently in use. Sweat

ETA: Oh, another guitar-based pop group is globe and they're also produced by TK. The vocalist has annoying vocals, but it grows on you after a while...a long while.

Thanks for the kind offer, but I think I'll probably get them from somewhere, now I know how to search for music on the net. Victory! Peace!

Now, globe look interesting. I've just listened to some samples on Last.fm, and they sound very promising. The female vocalist sounds ok, but the male vocals - ew. Sweat

you guys aren't seriously comparing Namie to Mrs.Trainwreck-Spears right? Beaten . blasphemy

off topic, but download this small 36mb file (you won't regret it) of a very funny southpark episode, and see if you still wanna compare Namie to Spears hehe

Hmm... maybe i should try giving concentration 20 a try. i've never really tried to listen to her songs made before 2003. coz '03 was when she released Queen of Hip-Pop she kinda changed her style, in a good way of course.
Believe it or not i've never had one day in the last couple of weeks without listening to Namie's What a Feeling

No idea where to get the download, but here are the lyrics:

I'm sure you'll be able to find the albums I mentioned because she is/was popular, but if you can't, just let me know. Smile

Yeah, I kind of like globe, but they're not one of my faves. And I think that there are other people who dislike Marc too, but I don't mind his strange rapping.

Hmm..other groups I can think of with the dance/pop/guitar sounds are:

Every Little Thing (stay away from commonplace..I think that was the snooze-worthy album)
day after tomorrow (very samey music)

And no surprise--they're both AVEX artists. Yeah, you might want to check out the AVEX site for more suggestions. Victory! Peace!

I'm with monta here... I was never seriously listening to Namie before Queen of Hip Pop album. Maybe because I'm not seriously into JPOP yet during that time....

So, that 's why I'm also with cori with this one, I'm not fond with Namie earlier material, its good....but I'm not much INTO its....

Now, I'm like fan of Namie.... I love her LIVE performance, even though sometimes it not perfect....

I actually do like her earlier material (I adore her Super Monkeys days), just not her Concentration 20 album so much. I also dislike her Break the Rules album with the exception of a few songs.

That's why I'm not her BIGGEST fan (I wish I am!!!) coz I never listens to her earlier songs (album/single version) except for Can you celebrate?... I only heard of her earlier material from her LIVE/CONCERTs performances....

Out of Namie topic... I'm CRAZY about RADWIMPS but it's hard to get their info and lyrics... even I got the lyrics, I can't match which song it represent coz I can't read Japanese... It takes me 2 days of googling to get the DL (i don't use BT)....

Ah, you should've mentioned romaji lyrics earlier because I would've been able to add it sooner. Smile Here's the link to the lyrics. I didn't have the songs to double check the lyrics, so if there are errors, please let me know.
