You can get the special here : http://www.verycd.com/forum/t/8141.shtml (the page is Chinese but the Special is original Japanese dub)

and the subs from kloofy's site here : http://www.subs.2ya.com

I hope it's not forbid to add the links here. If so pm me I'll remove them as soon as I can.

Sorry Bedi, but the link is like, dead. Sad Also, I think I will have to ask Prince if he has anymore timings. Episode 4 is done...almost...just need to upload the text. Me = slow. Mr Green

This is actually an interesting topic.

I find that professionally done translations want to try to appeal to a wide audience, so the translations tend to feel a little watered down to me. But fansubs are for a more knowledgeable audience and tend to use more literal translations. I like how some fansubs will introduce a Japanese term by defining it, and then use it going forward. It can give the show more of a Japanese flavor.

But when it comes to slang and wordplay, I think any translator has a very hard time of it. You can't just put up a paragraph in the middle of a show to explain what the character just said Smile

But I have seen a show where the translators put up a few paragraphs of translation notes at the beginning of the show, and it was pretty cool.

Gokusen might actually benefit from that kind of a treatment.

A lot of Japanese word play and stuff is especially difficult to put into English though...if not impossible.

amrayu and Quatregael,

Episode 5 is done. I'll look it over one more time and upload it somewhere in the next few days.

Which one should I work on next?

I got the special + 1st episode within one day... However if you can get it from the server mentioned above, it will be even faster of course.

quatregael: even episode numbers.

Well, it looks like everything is going pretty smoothly, so here's a breakdown of what's happening:

1.) Currently amrayu is coding Ep. 3.

2.) We're considering re-doing Eps. 1 & 2. More info later.

3.) So far our team consists of these ppl:

Translators: Dorakura and myself

Techy Stuff: Amrayu

Editing: Vibius

And we e-mail Prince from time to time for stuff...

It seems like we're pretty organized. Wink Now all we need is a nifty banner. Mr Green

In the meantime, why doesn't someone dig up the old Gokusen thread (Is there one? Google) and start some discussions, ne?

BTW, Bedi, thanks for trying, but I still had dl troubles, so I'm getting the special from dorakura.

@Quatregael Ok The point was getting the special anyway no matter how ^^"
However 'pezzy' had some dl troubles at the beginning as well, after a few tips for the settings and which server to use it seemed to be a way faster. If you need to use the program again later and have any troubles in finishing sth well spread like the Gokusen special (or at least fast downloadable) don't hesitate to pm me for help. Have fun and thx for your people's effort

the first 2 episodes were subbed by Prince and his group, those 2 episodes were released quite awhile ago. the BT links are down now the last time i checked.
the rest hasn't been subtitled yet.
