Went down and watched the taiko today. Koshin Taiko was the best IMHO. Applaud There were a lot of good performances, but it appears graduation has taken a toll on UCLA Kodo Taiko, they only had 5 members in their group. Puppy Dog Eyes

I got this e-mail:

JAPAN FILM FESTIVAL
-Los Angeles-
e-Newsletter
vol. Aug 2008

~This month's MENU~
I: Hello! from Japan Film Festival -Los Angeles- Committee
II: JFF News
III: Event Information

I: Hello! from Japan Film Festival -Los Angeles- Committee

Hello, all JFF fans!! I'm very happy to write to you now. My name is Aki Mizuno, the executive director of JFF09.
First of all, I would like to thank you all for coming to JFF08 and subscribing to our mailing list.
We have already started working on next year's festival, trying to make JFF09 much bigger and better than ever.
We will be holding or cooperating in organizing many events until our film festival starts in April 2009.
Through this newsletter, I hope that we can provide you with interesting information about Japanese films,
Japanese culture, and JFF-related events.
Again, thank you very much for being interested in JFF09. We are looking forward to seeing you soon!!

II: NEWS

• JFF comes back in April 2009!
The next edition of the Japan Film Festival will be held in April 2009.
We are also looking into multiple venues to broaden accessibility to JFF for your convenience.
We will let you know the exact dates as soon as they are set!

• JFF calls for film submissions (coming soon)
To provide young emerging filmmakers with more opportunities to show their remarkable works,
JFF09 will be calling for submissions starting this year. Details are coming soon!

III: EVENT INFORMATION

We would like to introduce our supporter's event that starts from this weekend.
We thought that some of you might be interested in this Japanese to English subtitle translation seminar
at the Japan Video Translation Academy -Los Angeles-.

Please understand that this event will be taught in Japanese,
as this seminar is for Japanese speaking people who would like to become a translator for making subtitles (Japanese to English).
But the good news is that JVTA is planing to organize another seminar for English speakers to translate into Japanese in the future!
Everyone is welcome! Please read below for detailed information.
