true. there is the foreign quota needs to be filled for kohaku right?
since JE have their own quota (geee NHK ) its ok the boys not in it for that one. Kouhaku is kinda epic though. Even I knew about it before learning about Arashi. Kinki Kids & V6 haven't performed in Kouhaku right?
Yeah, even V6 & the ever so successful KinKi Kids have never performed on Kouhaku. Last year, NHK viewers voted Kanjani8 as the act they most wanted to see the most on Kouhaku (due to their enka relation), but even so they never made it there. _________________

Satoshi Ohno tries comedy in next drama series
Sun, December 7, 2008 (7:49pm EST)
After starring in the TBS drama series "Maou" last season, Arashi's Satoshi Ohno is back with his second starring TV role. This time, he will lead the TV Asahi comedy series "Uta no Oniisan," which will air on Friday nights at 11:15pm this winter. This is said to be his first comedy role, including his performances in film and theater.
The story revolves around an unconventional children's show called "Minna de Utao!" Ohno plays Kenta, a young musician whose band breaks up and who gets dumped by his girlfriend. To top it off, his own family labels him as useless. Unexpectedly, he becomes an "uta no oniisan," a singing character on the children's show.
The show begins filming on the 18th of this month and premieres on January 16.

since Ohno, nino, and jun always did good jobs in their drama(ohno just got one though), watching him in another role that completely different with he had in maou really excites me..
I think he's gonna succeed in comedy drama too, since he always had amusing role in arashi..

What do you think of Sho's Yatterman? I'm very amused
it looks good!! really wanna watch that movie..
on the sidenote, im very much happy on the oricon yearly sales ranking!!
taken from tokyograph
Quote:
Oricon has just released its sales rankings for 2008, and this year the clear winner was EXILE. The group had been aiming to make this their "Perfect Year," and Oricon's numbers now show how well they achieved it. Counting singles, albums, and DVDs, EXILE sold close to 5.2 million copies for a total of 19.58 billion yen. In comparison, Kumi Koda was last year's top artist with only 7.3 billion yen.
However, EXILE had no entries in the Top 10 Singles of the year. Instead, Arashi was the big winner with three of their songs making the list. They took the top two spots with "truth / Kaze no Mukou e" (618,000 copies) and "One Love" (524,000), while "Beautiful days" was #10 (422,000). Arashi is only the 5th artist to have the top two singles in a year, with the last one being Princess Princess in 1989.
* "truth / Kaze no Mukou e," Arashi
* "One Love," Arashi
* "I AM YOUR SINGER," Southern All Stars
* "Kiseki," GReeeeN
* "Shuchishin," Shuchishin
* "HANABI," Mr.Children
* "Soba ni Iru ne," Thelma Aoyama
* "DON'T U EVER STOP," KAT-TUN
* "LIPS," KAT-TUN
* "Beautiful days," Arashi

^ I'd say because EXILE has 3 albums in the TOP10 and 5 in the TOP100, plus they're the artist(s) that have sold the most this year (close to 5.2 million copies for a total of 19.58 billion yen)
Also, Arashi is only the 5th artist to have the top two singles in a year, with the last one being Princess Princess in 1989.

Yes but Oricon themselves didn't forget to highlight Arashi achievement even if it is just for singles sales... They even have this special Arashi comments and stuff ( http://contents.oricon.co.jp/music/special/081211_01_08.html ). As the main source for English language Japanese entertainment source Tokyograph shouldn't be bias imo... and I do like EXILE too..
http://www.oricon.co.jp/news/confidence/61012/full/
according to this (and the translation here), "Adding together the individual sales for each single, they have also topped the ranking for overall singles sales by an artist (25.8 billion yen)"
as for Ohno drama themesong.. maybe they are planning a solo song by Ohno? or a double A-side?
