Finally finished Muri na Renai. A great, last episode.

Even though I never really saw Chappy and Kaede as a couple, there were a lot of highlights which made this one of the most enjoyable series in recent memory. Almost all the characters were interesting and memorable in some ways, and the excellent acting from almost everyone really elevated this drama to another level. I felt at times there was a sense of freedom with the acting rarely seen in other dramas. I especially enjoyed the interactions and friendship between Kaede and her actress friend, and the wise and optimistic outlook on life from Chappy and his ex-wife.

was one of the best, I thought. It does have a slow start but definitely recommended.

Just finished Byakuyakou(AWESOME) and watched the first 2 episodes of Around 40. Amami Yuki is so beautiful for a 40 year old woman, itLs hard to swallow that such a beautiful woman canLt find a man. Anyway this dorama is like Hataraki Man and Anego, but from the first 2 episodes iLm already enjoying this one more.

Anime Dad

Anata no tonari ni dare ga iru??? Now there's a show I've wanted to see for a while.

Should you ever find subs for it I hope you'll make some noise. I'd love to try to work out a trade for it.

For myself... I finished Gift last night. Now that was a fun series.

Geez, i've found someone who is currently subbing it.... in Hungarian. The good news is that she is providing me with English copies of the subs as she is doing them. Well, sofar she's done the first 2 eps in Hungarian, and the first one in English. I'm hoping she will keep going Smile I'll let you know when they are finished Smile

Yup, one of my favorite of Kimura's. When you've got actors like Kyoka Suzuki, Kaori Momoi and Ken Ogata showing up for just an episode or two, that's the power of Kimura.

And I guess Bryan Ferry got that cameo in lieu of royalites on the theme song, eh? Mr Green

gaijinmark

I'm still down a thumb or I'd fill the page talking about the supporting cast and the guest stars for "Gift". I was really sad to see it end.

Anime Dad

Hot Dog!!! I saw it for sale once (no subs) and thought about getting it. But the blurb about the plot made it clear that I'd be completely at sea. Let's hope the Hungarian is a workaholic.

Eve

My bet is you'll love "Gift". If you have it, I recommend it. If not let me know and I'll send you a copy. (Big Yellow Subs)

@ flamethunder85: Am currently watching Long Vacation, too! *dies of Lovey Eyes Smitten In love *

GAAAAHHHHH I love this drama to pieces. I'm fighting the urge to dive into the Pacific and swim all the way to Japan, Kuroshio Current be damned! Even if they fish my waterlogged carcass out of the South China Sea, at least I could say that I tried! Beaten

TOTALLY!!! Dude, 3 months ago if anyone had shown me a photo of Kimura I would've said, "What a fugly little man--and that AWFUL hair color, eeeww!!!" LOLLLLL mwahaha

Well, that was then and this is now, and NOW, Kimu Taku is my Drunk

Just a heads up, this is completely different from your typical Kimura drama, not real "warm and fuzzy".

Oh, I don't mind at all. It would be great to see Kimura play against type. Bring it ON, you J-Pop Idol, you! Yeah

I've finished yet another drama, Narita Rikon, starring Kusanagi Tsuyoshi and Seto Asaka. A romantic comedy that's neither romantic, there is zero chemistry between the leads, nor particularly funny. It's one of those dramas whose thin premise is stretched to breaking point.

I watched it as it has Fukatsu Eri and Abe Hiroshi is supporting roles, but they were given very little to do. It's Abe Hiroshi's first role, but even back then you can see his star quality.

I think I'll check out some the Spring '09 offerings now.

Ahhh. I really enjoyed Narita Rikon.

After the steady stream of lovey dovey romantic comedies, and tragedies I thought a story about a couple who fell in love, had a whirlwind romance, got married and went off to their honeymoon... only to find that when they returned home, they out and out despised each other... was refreshing.

SMAP's Mr. Milktoast finally stood up for himself... and I thought Seto Aska did a great job as a Harridan.

Though I agree... Fukatsu & Abe were way underused.

By the way, that was only Abe's first role in a Trendy. He was a regular in Watenabe Ken's Bian the Assasin series long before. And he'd already made a name for himself in movies.

The premise sounded good, but it just didn't work for me. Ho hum.

Oh, that makes sense, I thought he was a bit too good for a debut role.
