Just finished watching Dolls, quite a depressing movie but masterfully made and utterly beautiful.

Miho barely makes a sound besides in flashbacks, and still manages to be highly expressive. And I'm not sure if it's the makeup or the cold, but she's oftentimes so pale she's nearly transparent.

I liked that one too because it was obviously very well done, and because it was directed by Kitano, but not one of his usual genre. But still, I hardly ever watch it. Very depressing, as you said, in fact too depressing for me. Koi ga Shitai was made around the same time, I like that a lot, it also has sad aspects but has a positive ending.

Yeah, I don't think I could watch Dolls again anytime soon.

Koi ga Shitai was pretty good, it differs from the run of the mill dorama because it discusses more than love - it's about loneliness and city living and stuff. The only gripe I had with it was that Miho's character Mikan was kind of minor.
