Beautiful life [ビューティフルライフ] Beautiful Drama? [Rating: 7/10] For the most part I enjoyed this drama. This is not to say that this drama was flawless from the start. Of course every drama has its downside. One flaw that i'll extort in particular is this drama was verrrry slow. I almost had to force myself to watch sometimes. At one point I was more interested in the side stories rather than the main Shuji and Kyoko relationship. It was not until the end where I really got interested in the story. The ending of the story was obviously predicatable. It is as if I were bracing my self for a punch in the stomach; the question to ask was "when?". And of course episode 11 was the most appropriate place =) | Dekichatta Kekkon [できちゃった結婚] This drama has my blessing [Rating: 9/10] What made me enjoy this drama was that the characters were so down to Earth and the situation was so real. It was hard not to root the characters on from begining to end. The drama does a great job of really putting you into the Chiyo/Ryonsuke relationship strugles. One was happy when things were going well for them yet one was sad when they run out of luck. The relationships of the side characters really add an extra kick to the drama. It is fun to see how each of the relationships in the drama get resolved as the drama progresses. It is also great to see two megastars Ryoko Hirosue and Takenouchi Yutaka working together. To sum it up this is a great drama and I'd recomend it to anyone. |
GTO [麻辣教師] Poison!! [Rating: 10/10] This is one of those "classic" Dramas. This is also the dorama I give to my friends when they ask "why do u watch this stuff?"
good stuff! | Hero GTO in the courtroom [Rating: 8/10] Hmm a educational flunkie with unconventional practices and unappreciative colleagues. Does this sound a little familiar? Haha I swear this JDorama has its roots to GTO; down to the very love story. On the other hand I do not think you can deny the megastar matchup of Matsu and Kimura. Matsu is just too gorgeous in this one to make me degrade this dorama. |
Long vacation [ロングバケーション] The JDorama standard [Rating: 10/10] To paraphrase a fellow JDorama.com colleague I would say "this is the dorama that sets the standard for all other doramas. The music, storyline, and actors all seemed to fit in harmony. Towards the end I felt sad; but not because of the storyline. I felt sad because everything was resolved and the dorama was over. It has that kind of effect on people; Like a good RPG | Love generation [ラブジェネレーション] Love tug-o-war [Rating: 8/10] I have to say this drama took a different approach than usual. Usually one sees two main characters and their struggle to be together; however this drama involves the two main character's struggle to stay together. I also have to admit this theme got a little repetitive making me say "uh oh here we go again". Just the fact that the two main roles were Matsu Takako and Kimura Takuya made this drama really interesting because they had such chemestry in this one. I believe Matsu Takako really showed her acting range with Kimura Takuya playing his normal usual self ^_^. This is a great drama that any hardcore jdrama fan should pick up. |
Mukodono! [ムコ殿/女婿大人] Haburashiiii!!! [Rating: 8/10] Since most dramas are love stories there tends to be alot of copy cats and tendencies; but this drama decides to add a very unique and interesting twist! The idea of a ordinary housewife and a pop star makes this drama very interesting and entertaining from the start. Not only did was this drama entertaining but it also taught me alot about the workings of a Japanese family and how they cherish family values. On the other hand this drama also has its pitfalls. I got tired of the "earning trust" theme which the played out too long. Also the main character is both comedic and anoying. However I still recomend this drama to everyone | Satorare [サトラレ] Transparent Review [Rating: 8/10] This was the first drama I ever watched. I loved it so much that it "broke" me into the drama scene. Coming into this drama I thought this is just another one of those crazy concepts the Japanese make up like battle chefs or those crazy games shows. You can always count on the Japanese to come up with unique concepts for their dramas. This is a very unique and entertaining concept. Once in awhile you need something diffrent form the usual love story drama.
A very well designed point about this drama is how a viewer can so easily relate to the character of Kenichi. Each episode had me cheering him on! A drama that can do that is worth the experience. |
Summer snow Summer Tears [Rating: 10/10] I have to admit that I rarely cry when it comes to movies or television but this one made me want to cry. This is such a sad drama. It is one of those dramas that make you scream "Why did it turn out this way!!?". I recomend this drama to more experienced dorama viewers; this is not one of those "break-in" doramas. Not only was this dorama great in story and characters but it made me fall in love with Ryoko Hirosue ^_^ | Taiho shichauzo [逮捕しちゃうぞ] Please Arrest Me [Rating: ?/10] This is something to watch when your bored. What this dorama lacks is a solid story that one can really get immersed into. It is pretty much diffrent scenarios and antics each episode. When you throw in a love story here and there you get a good fun to watch Dorama. But I also have to admit I am a guy; what kept me watching was the hot Japanese women in police uniforms |
To heart ~ koishite shinitai [to Heart 恋して死にたい] To Stalk [Rating: 6/10] This is one of my first doramas that I downloaded. Naturally I thought it was great because of the very listtle experience with JDoramas that I had. Looking back I now realize that this dorama was really mediocre. It really doesn't compare to some other JDoramas that I have seen. Storywise I give you one word "ehck". I don't know if I can believe this one. This is border line stalker dorama. | Trick [トリック] Japanese version of X-Files! [Rating: 7/10] There seems to be general consent that this drama was fun to watch yet confusing at times. I'd have to say I agree but maybe
this is the beauty of the drama so to say. It built up a sense of "huh" and left you with a sense of "Ohh so thats what happned". Despite all the confusion I really liked the chemistry between the two main characters; it always left me saying "Cmon! When are you guys gonna hook up already!". I also enjoyed how this drama could throw in random blips of comedy in midst of seriousness and suspense. It really helped lighten up the mood of the drama. It reminds me of a Japanese version of X-files but in a more light hearted way. |
Yamato Nadeshiko [やまとなでしこ【大和撫子】] Gold Diggers Delight [Rating: 9/10] Some hate this one. Some praise this one. Personally I really enjoyed this dorama even though It did not turn out the way I wanted it to. A driving factor for me was the character of Osuke. I could really relate to his character. It teaches me that humble and decent men still have a fighting chance! ^_^. I believe the beautiful Nanako did an extraordinary performance in this one. | |
