Gokusen [ごくせん] gokusen is a great drama with a mix of wonderfully crafted stories and endearing characters. it's the perfect blend of fun and inspiration. made in the gto mold, and yet completely original and equally impressive. nakama yukie is typically a bit too goofy and quirky for my taste, but she is perfect for this role
GTO [麻辣教師] gto is one of the coolest drama series i've ever watched. i loved the dynamics with which this drama dealt with, the different subplots, and how it all worked together to make such a great overall story. other school dramas have been entertaining as well, but this one set the bar high and is still the one to beat, without a doubt
Hotman [ホットマン] still relatively new, so not many people have seen it yet, but if you get the chance, GRAB THIS DRAMA, you will not regret it. nanami is absolutely charming, and every episode was well thought out. touching and heartwarming, watch it and you'll think so too!
Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1リットルの涙] a powerfully moving drama, with riveting performances by aya, asou, ako, and especially aya's dad. touching from start to finish, while giving respect to those that truly struggle through hardships that they cannot control. a truly beautiful drama. and what a coming out party for sawajiri erika, i think jdorama has found its future superstar
Last Christmas [ラストクリスマス] heartwarming, engaging, unexpected. i thought that this was going to be like any other romantic comedy, but i'm glad i was wrong. oda yuji and yada akiko are mesmerizing as the leads, and the chemistry between them is in a class of its own. wonderful and superb, you will not soon forget this one
Sekai no chuushin de, ai wo sakebu [世界の中心で、愛をさけぶ] this is definitely a well put together drama. from the artistic choreography to the directing to the acting to the storyline, it's all first class. i would have given it a 10, but for the acting of one stone faced male lead. yamada takayuki is horrid... still, a 9/10 is nothing to be ashamed of
Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi [空から降る一億の星] simply the best, this drama had me glued to my seat from start to finish. i literally could not get up until i finished watching it (yes, that means for 9 hours). i could sing praises about it all day and all night, but you have to see for yourself to believe it. and that's all i'm going to say, WATCH IT!!!
Summer snow now i know what all the hype is about. this is a wonderfully written story, and the acting really is superb, ryoko and tsuyoshi did a wonderful job. the other characters developed wonderfully as well, it was just very well made all around. the ending really touched me to my core, it was so powerful. this is really a great drama
Yamato Nadeshiko [やまとなでしこ【大和撫子】] my first drama, it will always be special to me. i was so happy when i watched it, everything had been going for me, life was good. i long for the days where everything was more simple and carefree... this was a well made, enjoyable, and lighthearted drama that will always be dear to my heart
gqstyle09's artiste votes (8)
Fukatsu Eri [深津絵里] if i had to describe her in one word, it would be simply 'amazing' the best pure actress in terms of skills and versatility, i haven't see her talent matched by anybody. she completely envelops herself in every single role, it seems to just come naturally. once again, simply amazing!
Hirosue Ryoko [広末涼子] honestly, i don't really like the way she looks much, but i have to give credit where credit's due. ryoko is an amazing actress, she has impressed me with every role she's played, and her sweet voice and nature will capture your heart
Kimura Takuya [木村拓哉] although i hate to admit it, he isn't bad. he is far from being one of my favorites, but i am voting for him for one reason and one reason alone. he turned in the single most amazing performance i have ever seen as katase ryo in million stars
Matsushima Nanako [松嶋菜々子] hands down, the best j drama actress out there in terms of the whole package. she has the beauty and elegance to radiate a whole room of people, while possessing the skill to act out different roles with such ease, that it seems to come naturally to her
Nagase Tomoya [長瀬智也] tomoya is a superb actor, he adapts to his roles so well, you can really relate to and empathize with all the characters he plays. he always has a cool demeanor about him, yet he shows his versatility with the different personalities he portrays
Oda Yuji [織田裕二] i watched 60 plus dramas before coming across oda yuji, and i regret not seeing his work earlier. now, i can't get enough of him. he plays the mysterious guy, the tough guy, the love interest, the detective, anything and everything, and he excels at all those roles. he is truly a gifted and talented actor
Odagiri Joe [オダギリジョー] joe odagiri is psycho. he's over the top with his acting, but believably so, and never overdoes it (if that makes any sense at all) he has a gift for playing the erratic and flamboyant role, mixing it with the stoic demeanor of a true psychopath, I LOVE IT!
Sawajiri Erika [沢尻 エリカ] 'wow' is the only word that comes to mind when i think of the performance erika put on in ichi ritoru no namida. the sky's the limit for this young budding actress. she has the beauty, charisma, and talent to make it big in the years to come. i'm looking forward to seeing much more of her in the future
Yan Papa [やんパパ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) very touching drama, well made final episode, tomoya is awesome
Yome wa mitsuboshi [嫁はミツボシ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) fun, lighthearted, entertaining, kimura yoshino and morita go are excellent!
Yoomigaeri [黄泉がえり] Rating: 5/10 (Watched) nice story, superb soundtrack, horrible male lead, and an equally bad ending

101 Kaime no Puropozu [101回目のプロポーズ] INSULTING, 'fail kids, you'll come out on top!' [Rating: 3/10] i literally had to labor through this drama. like bus stop, its main character was a complete joke. he was a fat, ugly, short, oily, OLD, self-loathing, unconfident, uncultured, ill-mannered, rice spitting, pathetic failure at life. and when kaoru tells him over and over she would never marry him, he goes obsessive stalker on her. and we're supposed to believe she eventually falls for him? never in real life. it's funny too, cuz you can tell that asano atsuko is repulsed by him. she can't even bring herself to touch him until the last minute of the drama, and they never even kiss HAHAHA and the whole 'i'm gonna buy an engagement ring, even though we've never held hands or hugged' concept is pathetic. score should be 1, but junpei and chie are cute, and say yes is a nice song
Ai No Uta [あいのうた] ^^^ typical response from a boyband teeniebopper [Rating: 8/10] i really liked this drama. the leads were a bit mismatched, but i appreciate tamaki koji's acting and applaud him for doing a wonderful job. kanno miho's acting has really improved, and this is probably her best performance to date. their relationship is a beautiful one, and their character development highlight a simple yet heartfelt drama. it is anything but disgusting... (what would have been better? if the story sucked, but kanno miho got with narimiya hiroki instead since he's "t0teM0 KaWaii!!1!!!1!" ugh, damn little girls taking over the website...) the happiness created between the characters made you almost totally forget about the tragic fates of the leads. that, in itself, touched me
Antique [アンティーク〜西洋骨董洋菓子店] they used one of the oldest tricks in the book [Rating: 5/10] the writers of antique knew the storyline was unbearably boring, so they strategically placed 'bright spots' throughout each episode. the viewers are bored out of their minds 95% of the time, but whenever anything REMOTELY interesting happens, it seems exceptionally funny. the result is a mixed feeling, leaving you unsure whether you loved the drama or hated it. antique had its moments, but overall i was quite disappointed. even with such an all-star cast, i found myself most interested in learning about eiji's ex-girlfriend than any of the main characters. and the dorky kid has to go, he was horrible and added nothing to the drama... oh well, at least the food looked good
Attack No.1 [アタック No.1] ueto aya? in the best sports drama i've seen? huh? [Rating: 7/10] most sports dramas tell a decent underlying story, but have horrible 'sports acting.' they're so bad, i find myself hoping the games would stop and just go back to the story. not so with attack. granted, volleyball is probably a lot easier to fake than hockey, but i actually found myself wanting more volleyball games when the drama ended. and that would be my only criticism, the ending left viewers hanging, wanting more. oh, and midori's change was way too abrupt, going from bitch to angel in about 5 minutes. but aside from that, this drama will leave you smiling. and aya actually turned in a surprisingly valiant performance, and i wanted to see more of her skills develop!
Boku dake no Madonna [僕だけのマドンナ] takki is the king of awkward silences [Rating: 5/10] is it just me, or do takki's characters always have that "cricket in the background" feeling to them. some would consider his acting style boring, and to be honest, it really is unbearable at times. further, they made surumi too horrible for words in this drama, it's hard to warm up to her before episode 8 or so, and she probably alienated many viewers by then. i know what the writers attempted to do, but surumi's character turns out to be a lot less profound than they were trying to portray her as. however, a strong supporting cast (especially shimatani hitomi), interesting side stories, and a conclusion that goes back to more simpler roots somewhat redeemed this overly complicated drama
Bus stop [バスストップ] the ending SUCKED... [Rating: 4/10] natsuo had a loving fiancee who loved her and worked hard at the same time. he showed compassion to her and did nothing wrong whatsoever. musashi was a nice guy, but he was a failure at life, and his actions were similar to that of a stalker. kojiro's family company was collapsing, he had to leave for a year, yet he never made any excuses. he came back and redevoted his love to HIS FIANCEE. KOJIRO is who everybody should strive to be like in their lives. and yet natsuo runs to the pathetic bus driver. in real life, if you: 1) get uglier, 2) fail out of school, 3) get a minimum wage job, 4) stalk a beautiful career woman, 5) don't respect her promise to marry someone else, you will lose 100% of the time, and chances are you'll probably find yourself in jail...
Dekichatta Kekkon [できちゃった結婚] meh.... somewhat disappointed [Rating: 6/10] let me start by saying that the storyline was very touching, dealing with real world issues rather than 'fairy tale' stuff, i prefer this real kind of drama. however, the thing that disappointed me the most about this drama was the way everyone seemed so dense. it's like they were acting dumb on purpose to create tension that could have been avoided so easily. it was hard to warm up to the characters because of this. annoying: takumi, ryu's mom, the doctor, misato, and RINA. the main characters acted stubborn at times too.... don't get me wrong, i enjoyed this drama, i understand that without the idiots, it would have lasted like 2 eppys long, but there must be better script writers out there
Densha Otoko [電車男] sincere but rather rediculous drama [Rating: 5/10] i can guarantee that the real guy was realtively attractive, not a hardcore otaku, not a crybaby, etc. the first comparisons i thought of were 101 proposals and bus stop, neither of which i liked. what made this drama a bit better than those was yamada's sincerity and innocence. but... you could tell a lot of the otaku stuff, saori's emotional scarring, and especially yamada's crying... all were way overly exaggerated, and after awhile, they came off as rather unbelievable and annoying... who the heck cries EVERY TIME he talks to a girl? but the most unbelievable thing was that girls HATE being deceived, and most won't forgive you even once for any type of deception, let alone three times, no matter the reasons
Engine [エンジン] somewhat of a letdown [Rating: 6/10] throughout watching this drama, i had the feeling of being 'entertained' but after thinking about it, the sum of the parts was rather weak. koyuki's acting is very disappointing, and she shared no chemistry with kimutaku. the other teacher guy just bugged, as did morio and those nagging neighbor ladies. the racing was rather unrealistic. i mean, if you can find ONE instance in real life where the spoiler falls off of a race car because a screw comes loose, please let me know... the two saving graces of the drama were the kids and kimutaku's playful banter. but once you look past those, you see that the racing was weak, the main story was weak, the love story was weak, the kids' side stories were weak, and the ending was weak as well
Friends [フレンズ] what did you just say? [Rating: 2/10] i don't see what all the hype about this drama is. it's boring, it drags along, and the main characters don't even understand what they're saying to each other. oh yay, kyoko learned korean won bin learned japanese. some people might think that's romantic, but understanding a bit of both languages, i just found it difficult to concentrate and listen to them butcher the languages. and kyoko has to lay off the bon bons, there's some (err a lot of) extra junk in the trunk
Hana Yori Dango [花より男子] getting sick of little girls swooning over jun... [Rating: 6/10] inoue mao and oguri shun do very well. a fun drama, but nothing special. but can the little girls get off matsujun's jock? MATSUMOTO JUN CANNOT ACT (and psst, he's not even that good looking) there are 1000 better looking actors who actually have some talent. the fact that he has passed up hirosue ryoko, matsu takako, and sorimachi takashi in the rankings is just laughable. and it looks like he will soon pass nanako too. jun better than nanako? better than the QUEEN OF JDORAMAS? i think not, not in a billion years. you can see the discrepancy in skill in this drama. not like anyone will read this, but the board is being overrun by 11 year old girls, and the results aren't pretty.
Hoshi no kinka 1 [星の金貨] last 10 minutes dropped it from a 9 to a 5 [Rating: 5/10] goes to show how important the ending is. i was so touched by this drama, by the selflessness of aya, by the development of takumi and koizumi, by the determination of yoshihiko. but the ending completely ruined it. god i hated shoko, a manipulative, lying, selfish, psycho bitch, and yet shuichi ends up with her. i understand that she's pregnant and all, but the ending just left a bad taste in my mouth. and for takumi (whose character i loved) to go be with aya felt like a consolation prize, a 'let's settle for this' ending. in other sad endings, where someone dies, at least the other person still loves them, so you know they have them in their hearts always, this ending just left me with emptiness...
Hoshi no kinka 2 / Zoku hoshi no kinka [續。星の金貨] a fitting sequel to a disappointing series [Rating: 4/10] this series really knows how to disappoint! after the ending was so infamously ruined in the first drama, we are left with takumi (who once again was played magnificently by takenouchi yutaka) and aya spending a year in hokkaido together. this is where the sequel goes wrong. the focus is WAY too much on takumi and aya, and viewers are hoping, praying, that they end up together. shuichi has become a heartless widower who forgets his wife 20 minutes after she dies. what is supposed to develop into a sob-fest never materializes because the wrong two people end up together. and what is up with yagami? nobody is THAT evil. takumi's sincerity in the end was the only saving grace for this forgettable drama
Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1リットルの涙] may be one of the greatest of all time [Rating: 10/10] only a few dramas come to mind that i believe will transcend time and remain memorable, titles such as gto, sora kara furu ichioku no hoshi, majo no jouken, long vacation, and beautiful life. dramas that, although you may not have loved, you can still appreciate for their lasting appeal. i believe that we will look back and put ichi ritoru no namida in that category. this is one of the most touching, most powerful, most beautifully made dramas to come in a long time. the perfect casting and acting set it apart from the similar but less effective sekai no chuushin. jinnai takanori (what a moving performance), nishikido ryou (surprise, an amazing performance from a jpop guy!), and narumi riko (always impressive) all blew me away. and sawajiri erika will be the next big thing in jdorama, you can count on it.
Kimi wa Petto [きみはペット] am i watching the same drama as these people?? [Rating: 3/10] looking down these reviews, i have NO IDEA what the rest of these people were watching, was there another version that was actually good?? because the version i saw had a rediculous script and was filled with people that had absolutely no acting skills whatsoever. i only give it a 3 because it's a tad better than the likes of pretty girls and fighting girl, ugh... for those of you that are screaming that jun was so cute, did you actually watch the guy ACT? i didn't think so, because he CAN'T. so if you are not a 12 year old girl infatuated with matsumoto jun, then don't bother watching this drama, because it's pretty much a piece of crap
Koi ni Ochitara ~Boku no Seikou no Himitsu~ [恋におちたら〜僕の成功の秘密〜] a surprisingly entertaining drama [Rating: 7/10] i wasn't expecting too much out of this drama, but it surprised me. kusanagi tsuyoshi still retains the title of the most feminine guy in acting, and when he was trying to act tough through the middle of the drama, i couldn't help but laugh because he's just horrid (otherwise, i might have scored the drama a bit higher even). but his character at the start and end are endearing to watch. the star of this show is undoubtedly tsutsumi shinichi. the supporting cast is also very strong.
Koibumi [恋文~私たちが愛した男] good god what the hell did i just watch? [Rating: 3/10] honestly, this is the stupidest drama i've ever watched. before watching this drama, i already thought that watabe atsuro was an idiot. koibumi not only solidified that notion, it made me realize that he is quite possibly the BIGGEST idiot in all of japan. how he ever became famous is beyond me. all he ever does is whine and be a little bitch boy. i guess if acting consisted of whining and being a little bitch, then he could be considered good. the story is horrible. it's basically "let's see how many people in my life i can emotionally scar FOREVER." i gave it a 3 because mikiko and keisaku's story is touching, and because mizuno miki and suguru turned in good performances. but this is a drama to forget.
Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003 [高校教師 2003] mixed feelings about this drama... [Rating: 6/10] i was actually very touched by the main story. you never know how you're going to react to being told you're dying. i would never have chosen koga's path, but i can sympathize with him. i didn't find it as sad or touching as everyone makes it out to be, but that doesn't mean it was bad. ueto aya and fujiki are mesmerizing in the lead roles. everything else detracted from the drama though. the side stories were both sick and unbelievable, and the supporting cast (aside from manabe kaori) was unbearably ugly. some dramas try to be twisted (see million stars), but when you're talking about a high school, you should probably tone it down a little. no school is THAT screwed up
Long vacation [ロングバケーション] why is this drama so great? [Rating: 4/10] i just struggled through this drama, thinking that something great was going to happen 'any time now' but nothing ever came to pass... why do people love it so much? i'm under the impression that people like it because 'my favorite actor is in it' or 'that girl is soo cute!' which is good, i guess, if you're a superficial 12 year old, but if you sit down and think about it, this drama is pretty much a bunch of random junk thrown together, it's not the worst i've seen, but i'd be lying if i said i wasn't disappointed...
Love complex [ラブコンプレックス] an innovative and fresh drama [Rating: 5/10] let me first commend the director for his excellent cinematography. despite what people say about the storyline of this drama (much of which i agree with), it still stands in my mind as one of the most original and innovative storytelling pieces i've ever seen. with that said, the storyline tried way too hard to match that innovation. the drama becomes jumbled and overly confusing in numerous spots. and i'm not a fan of storylines that make you HATE particular characters who are evil with no underlying reason, and karasawa toshiaki was exactly that. he gets added to my all time list of most annoying characters, with sakai wakana, fukada kyoko, and yonekura ryoko, barf...
Love generation [ラブジェネレーション] cute story, but no originality [Rating: 7/10] stop me when this sounds familiar: guy breaks up with girl, guy meets new girl, old girl won't go away, guy messes with old girl, new girl gets pissed, talk talk talk, new girl forgives... blah blah blah... i'm not bashing this drama, i actually really enjoyed it because kimutaku and matsu takako are talented at what they do, they made it interesting, but the story was just eh, it wasn't very memorable, too run of the mill, but it's a solid love story.... oh, and sanae is just dreadful... i know that's how her character's SUPPOSED to act, but good god she just wouldn't go away =P
Nemureru mori [眠れる森] wow, very impressive drama, but.... [Rating: 8/10] this is probably one of the most artistic and meticulous dramas i've ever seen. the attention to detail in it is superb, and i loved the way that the storyline was set up and played out. however, i'm not a big fan of the 'super sad' storylines. the darkness brings me down and puts me in a bad mood. i'm sure others have struggled with it as well. but it doesn't mean it's not good, quite the contrary actually. this is one of those dramas that stays engrained in your mind for a long time, one which you can talk to your friends about and discuss the different nuances, but it will probably put you in somewhat of a somber mood afterwards
Nobuta wo Produce [野ブタ。をプロデュース] Kame-Chan? YamaPi? Who?? [Rating: 7/10] as of the writing of this review, a search reveals that kame comes up 72 times by itself on this page, and yamapi comes up 96... whereas kamenashi comes up 14, and yamashita a measly 11... what does this mean? once again, too many little girls here =P sigh... don't get me wrong, i actually enjoyed this drama. it was deeper than i think even the writers intended it to be. but the shining stars were horikita maki and toda erika. i just feel bad because their great performances seemed to be overlooked by the teenieboppers here... and what was up with that ending? that was a bit too homoerotic for me. furthermore, nobuta sent too many signals shuji's way during the drama for it to be left unresolved, which is exactly what happened. but mariko's ending was cute~
Otousan [おとうさん] frustrating... [Rating: 5/10] the storyline was thin, and they tried to compensate for it with horribly written mini-stories for each character. rather than focus on an actual story, the writers pretty much stuck an annoying person with each character and made them get over the annoyance. dad = fat neighbor, yu = grandma, akira = husband, makoto = boyfriend, kei = herself. a monkey could have written a better story. if not for a fabulous performance by ryoko, the pretty good acting by that one girl that looks like shibasaki kou, and the cute (albeit cheesy) ending that tied all the loose ends together, i would have given this drama an even lower score. nah, it wasn't that bad, it was just... frustrating...
Over time esumi makiko is rather manly [Rating: 6/10] i find myself relating to esumi makiko only while watching the shomuni series because she acts like a man in it, and it fits her perfectly. the relationship between her and soichiro in this drama was ideal, yet i couldn't find myself rooting for them because, well, she is rather repulsive. 'i don't see you as a woman' was such a fitting quote. the drama itself wasn't bad, the story was great, but even though soichiro got along so well with natsuki, i found myself cheering for nazuna throughout. the ending was rather frustrating, they should have tied up the loose ends better.
Pretty Girls [プリティガール] way to teach horrible morals [Rating: 2/10] izumi was so good in this drama, after watching this and long vacation, i am now a big izumi fan. HOWEVER, the storyline of this drama is god awful. the first six episodes were great, and then they had to go and ruin it by letting ryoko take the reins. ok so she's more popular in japan, so what? her character in this drama was a selfish whiny little brat who only cared about herself and SHE gets the guy? what the hell is that? seriously, this drama was so good until ryoko ruined it, you don't understand how pissed i am right now after watching that debacle of a drama, props to izumi, she did a wonderful job, but for god's sake fire whoever wrote the story, i'm gonna go hang myself now....
Pride [プライド] SAY WHAT!?!?! more like ice hockey at its WORST!!! [Rating: 7/10] i couldn't help but laugh when i read the above review. being a hockey fanatic, watching pride's hockey scenes was downright painful. i think the director knew, cuz there was only like 10 minutes of hockey total in the whole drama (good thing too) the story itself actually turned out alright. takeuchi yuko is just too cute for words. but natsukawa and yuri were unbelievably weak characters, and detracted from the overall experience. still, pride is an above average drama that is worth your time to check out
Seikei Bijin [整形美人。] a debacle of a drama, ryoko is horrid [Rating: 2/10] after laboring through this, i felt compelled to write a review. seikei bijin tries to pass itself off as meaningful, talking about how inner beauty is most important. and yet, it would be abhorrent, even at the end, for honami to go back to her 'ugly' self. the drama rags on honami's ugly past and her ugly family. she singlehandedly ruined ryusei's life with lies and deceit, but she's hot so he ends up with her anyways. how sweet (ugh...) my last comment concerns yonekura ryoko. RYOKO CAN'T ACT. when she's acting, you can tell she thinks she's all that, what a turnoff. she's not even that good looking. the scriptwriters know this, so they always cast her in superficial dramas to make her look like an idiot, and she willingly obliges. what a joke...
Sensei shiranaino? [先生知らないの?] sure, this was a fun drama, but... [Rating: 5/10] this drama actually wasn't bad. the stories were lighthearted and fun. however, there were too many plotholes for it to resemble any type of 'good' drama. there is no resolution between yusaku and haruna. and how about haruna's fiancee? and what of aoki? although childish, the individual stories themselves were ok, but nothing was tied together, so the 'unified' classroom seemed divided. and how do the kids' troubles always suddenly disappear when a new episode started? oh, and as unbelievably gay as he is, kusanagi was actually decent in this role, but the star of the show was his student aoi, she was awesome
Shota no sushi [将太の寿司] long but enjoyable [Rating: 8/10] wow was this drama long, but you know what? it didn't seem that way. i think the fact that it was made like an anime kept me interested throughout. it was a bit corny at times, and the storylines were more than predictable 'hmm.... i wonder who's going to win this time...' but hey dramas are supposed to entertain people, and this one did a fine job of doing it. it's not one of the most impactful or memorable of all time, but it was fun
Slow Dance [スローダンス] takes a little while to soak in [Rating: 7/10] at first when i finished slow dance, i didn't really know what to think of it. the beginning was very promising, but sometime during the middle, the bottom dropped out of it. you couldn't help but feel so sorry for ayumi and yukie because they were thrown to the curb multiple times pretty much because the serizawa brothers were scripted as indecisive, clueless retards. but around episode 7, the female leads took over, and even though you started disliking them early on (because the couples seemed mismatched), fukatsu eri and hirosue ryoko made you want to root for them all over again. still, the plot was rather jumbled, but the acting carried the drama and made you feel good in the end
Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi [空から降る一億の星] the best drama you will ever watch! [Rating: 10/10] this drama has it all! if you didn't like it because it was 'sad' then you do not know how to appreciate a great drama. the plot and storyline were unpredictable, the casting was perfect, the directing was impeccable, the music was well chosen. and i can't say enough about the acting. kimutaku plays his most dynamic character to date (sorry all you teenybopper girls that just want to see him get with a cutesy girl, that freddie prinze jr crap doesn't take much acting skill), and fukatsu eri and akashiya sanma deliver simply amazing performances as well. the supporting cast was equally captivating, even the annoying characters were meant to be annoying (unlike any dramas with fukada kyoko or yonekura ryoko in it). all i have to say is watch it, you definitely will not regret doing so
Strawberry on the shortcake [ストロベリー・オンザ・ショートケーキ] who the hell came up with this story? [Rating: 5/10] this storyline is just weird and twisted, whoever wrote it is rather demented i would think. takky and kyoko come across as VERY annoying and it's really hard to relate to either of them, takky because he's pretty much pathetic, and kyoko because she's a whiny little ditz. it's sad that they pass her off as the 'all knowing' person that understands relationships *sigh* the only thing that kept me watching was rina and yosuke and how they'd end up. if anything, their performance and their ending gave this drama a 2 or 3 point boost, or else my rating would have been even lower
Sutaa no Koi [スタアの恋] would have been a great 9 episode drama [Rating: 6/10] due to work, school, life in general, this is the first drama i've watched in about a year, and i have to say that i had forgotten how fun they can be to watch. with that said, this would have been a wonderful little 9 episode drama. but the last three episodes were excruciatingly painful to watch simply because they were just delaying the inevitable. the ryutaro storyline was unnecessary, as was the "gaze into the future" storytelling format. nonetheless, it was fun while it lasted. i still think kusanagi tsuyoshi is horrible at acting, but his lameness may have actually helped here. and though i am far from a fujiwara noriko fan, her performance impressed me. overall, not too bad, but it probably would have gotten an 8 or 9 from me if they had wrapped it up earlier
Tentai Kanzoku [天体観測] very touching drama (with a few small flaws) [Rating: 8/10] this was a wonderful drama. i think what goes unappreciated is the fact that there were eight completely separate stories, and the scriptwriters managed to tie up all the loose ends in the end, and that is an admirable feat in itself. unfortunately, a couple of the stories detracted from the effectiveness of the drama as a whole, but you can't really expect all the subplots to be stellar. i was glad they ended up focusing on takeshi's struggles in the end. his tribulations were by far the most moving and inspirational. all in all, this drama is not to be missed
